新日铁开发出从垃圾中提取氢的新技术

日本最大的钢铁企业新日铁从垃圾中提取氢的新技术开发取得了成功。 新口铁以一般家庭和办公室垃圾为原料，利用其新开发成功的技术，可以从这些原料中提取出供燃料电池使用的氢。新日铁从其钢铁厂处理垃圾的经验和技术中得到启迪，进而联想到可以采用高温分解技术将有用的氢提取出来。新日铁在北九州的八幡制铁所已经建起了试验高温分解炉，日垃圾处理量可达20t。这项技术可以利用的垃圾原料包括各种纸张和餐饮废弃物等城市垃圾，还包括塑料、木材、废旧轮胎等工厂垃圾。使用该技术后，新日铁仅垃圾处理费就可以节省20％左右。

铁矿石资源仍是世界大钢铁公司争抢的焦点，在日本新日铁、欧洲阿塞洛和中国宝钢与世界三大矿石供应商正就明年价格谈判之时，传来新日铁与澳大利亚必和必拓公司、力拓集团和巴西CVRD公司签订长期铁矿石供货合同的消息。合同期限从2006年4月份开始，与力拓集团签订的10年合同，年供货数量为400万t，与必和必拓公司签订7年供货合同，年供货量亦为400万t，与CVRD公司签订的5年供货合同，年供应量100万t，另外10年的供货合同年供应量200万t。
