An analysis of the MMS object model

MMS (Manufacturing Message Specification) is an OSI application protocol designed for the remote control and monitoring of industrial devices. In this paper, we study the MMS object model: the notion of class, naming, inheritance and structuring. We show that MMS is designed for simplicity but that some notions are not dealt with homogeneously in all classes of MMS objects     

The Use of MMS for Remote CNC Control

Traditionally, plant floor communication systems in metal removal operations have been used for two purposes: downloading NC programs to machine tools, and data and status reporting and gathering. However, in a fully automated factory, the communication system will have to support many more functions. As a first step in such a development, we have designed a remote operator's interface to a NC milling machine, using the Manufacturing Message System. (MMS) soon to become EIA standard RS.511. MMS is planned to be part of MAP specification 3.0, providing an application layer service for plant floor communications. The functions supported are those which an operator would do normally at the console of the NC machine including requesting program load, setting the machine into single step or automatic operation, reading status information, starting and stopping program operation.     

Design and Implementation of 4S‐Van: A Mobile Mapping System

Recent advances in positioning and photogrammetry technologies have made it possible to build a mobile mapping system (MMS) that can obtain 3D coordinates of geographic objects from stereo images recorded from a moving vehicle. In this paper, we present a design and detailed implementation of an MMS called a 4S‐Van. Furthermore, we present four issues that have made major contributions to the performance of an MMS: 1) CCD camera calibration, 2) GPS signal condition, 3) integrating a GPS, inertial navigation system (INS), distance measurement indicator (DMI), and CCD cameras, and 4) the orientation angle of CCD cameras. In the experimental results, the performance of an MMS was analyzed for each component, giving an idea of how to effectively design and integrate each component in developing an MMS to get a maximal accuracy of 3D coordinates.

Protocol design and performance analysis for manufacturing messagespecification: A Petri net approach

The manufacturing message specification (MMS) is the ISO standard communication protocol specific to manufacturing. To analyze MMS design and performance, service unit automats are introduced to represent individual MMS services, while service connection Petri Nets (PNs) are constructed from these automats to describe MMS service connections and processes. This approach makes MMS protocol specification and analysis possible in terms of well-developed concepts and methods in PN theory. It leads to a distributed and hierarchical model of MMS software system by integrating service connection PNs. A generalized stochastic PN for MMS performance evaluation is obtained by incorporating service parameters and time factors into the model. A technique based on T-invariants is used to simplify the performance analysis     

基于IP的MMS服务器和客户端设计

一种基于IP的彩信收发模块设计

这里使用WinInet API设计实现了基于IP方式的彩信收发模块。该模块具备与彩信中心（MMSC）通过HTTP方式交互的功能,除了使用IP方式提高发送成功率外,还通过异步工作方式实现了彩信并发、收发进度显示以及中途终止发送和接收的扩展功能,并充分考虑了网络较差的情况。结果表明,该设计优于传统的WAP方式的实现方案。同时,该设计也扩展了无线上网卡的功能,增加了其附加值。
