Two series of poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) triblock copolymers were prepared by the ring opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) and dibutylmagnesium in 1,4‐dioxane solution at 70°C. The triblock structure and molecular weight of the copolymers were analyzed and confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR, and gel permeation chromatography. The crystallization and thermal properties of the copolymers were investigated by wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results illustrated that the crystallization and melting behaviors of the copolymers were depended on the copolymer composition and the relative length of each block in copolymers. Crystallization exothermal peaks (Tc) and melting endothermic peaks (Tm) of PEG block were significantly influenced by the relative length of PCL blocks, due to the hindrance of the lateral PCL blocks. With increasing of the length of PCL blocks, the diffraction and the melting peak of PEG block disappeared gradually in the WAXD patterns and DSC curves, respectively. In contrast, the crystallization of PCL blocks was not suppressed by the middle PEG block. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2009  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Biodegradable block copolymers have attracted particular attention in both fundamental and applied research because of their unique chain architecture, biodegradability and biocompatibility. Hence, biodegradable poly[((R )‐3 ‐hydroxybutyrate)‐block‐(D ,L ‐lactide)‐block‐(ε‐caprolactone)] (PHB‐PLA‐PCL) triblock copolymers were synthesized, characterized and evaluated for their biocompatibility. RESULTS: The results from nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography and thermogravimetric analysis showed that the novel triblock copolymers were successfully synthesized. Differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction showed that the crystallinity of PHB in the copolymers decreased compared with methyl‐PHB (LMPHB) oligomer precursor. Blood compatibility experiments showed that the blood coagulation time became longer accompanied by a reduced number of platelets adhering to films of the copolymers with decreasing PHB content in the triblocks. Murine osteoblast MC3T3‐E1 cells cultured on the triblock copolymer films spread and proliferated significantly better compared with their growth on homopolymers of PHB, PLA and PCL, respectively. CONCLUSION: For the first time, PHB‐PLA‐PCL triblock copolymers were synthesized using low molecular weight LMPHB oligomer as the macroinitiator through ring‐opening polymerization with D ,L ‐lactide and ε‐caprolactone. The triblock copolymers exhibited flexible properties with good biocompatibility; they could be developed into promising biomedical materials for in vivo applications. Poly(A)‐block‐poly(B), poly(A)‐block‐poly(B)‐block‐poly(A) and B(A)2 block copolymers were prepared through coordinated anionic ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL) and lactic acid (LA) using hydroxy‐terminated polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) as initiator. A wide range of well‐defined combinations of PDMS‐block‐PCL and PDMS‐block‐PLA diblock copolymers, PCL‐block‐PDMS‐block‐PCL and PLA‐block‐PDMS‐block‐PLA triblock copolymers and star‐PDMS(PCL)2 copolymers were thus obtained. The number‐average molar masses and the structure of the synthesized block copolymers were identified using various analytical techniques. The thermal properties of these copolymers were established using differential scanning calorimetry. Considering PDMS‐block‐PCL copolymers, the results demonstrate the complex effect of polymer architecture and PCL block length on the ability of the PDMS block to crystallize or not. In the case of diblock copolymers, crystallization of PCL blocks originated from stacking of adjacent chains inducing the extension of the PDMS block that can easily crystallize. In the case of star copolymers, the same tendency as in triblock copolymers is observed, showing a limited crystallization of PDMS when the length of the PCL block increases. In the case of PDMS‐block‐PLA copolymers, melting and crystallization transitions of the PLA block are never observed. Considering the diblock copolymers, PDMS sequences have the ability to crystallize. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The aim of the study was to investigate the mechanical properties and biodegradability of poly(trimethylenecarbonate‐ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(p‐dioxanone) [P(TMC‐ε‐CL)‐block‐PDO] in comparison with poly(p‐dioxanone) and poly(glycolide‐ε‐caprolactone) (Monocryl®) monofilaments in vivo and in vitro. P(TMC‐ε‐CL)‐block‐PDO copolymer and poly(p‐dioxanone) were prepared by using ring‐opening polymerization reaction. The monofilament fibers were obtained using conventional melt spun methods. The physicochemical and mechanical properties, such as viscosity, molecular weight, crystallinity, and knot security, were studied. Tensile strength, breaking strength retention, and surface morphology of P(TMC‐ε‐CL)‐block‐PDO, poly(p‐dioxanone), and Monocryl monofilament fibers were studied by immersion in phosphate‐buffered distilled water (pH 7.2) at 37°C and in vivo. The implantation studies of absorbable suture strands were performed in gluteal muscle of rats. The polymers, P(TMC‐ε‐CL)‐block‐PDO, poly(p‐dioxanone), and Monocryl, were semicrystalline and showed 27, 32, and 34% crystallinity, respectively. Those mechanical properties of P(TMC‐ε‐CL)‐block‐PDO were comparatively lower than other polymers. The biodegradability of poly(dioxanone) homopolymer is much slower compared with that of two copolymers. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 102: 737–743, 2006  相似文献

Poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(vinyl acetate) (PCL‐b‐PVAc) block copolymers were synthesized using two approaches: a ‘coupling’ approach using click chemistry reaction and a ‘macroinitiator’ route. Different copolymers, varying by their block lengths, were prepared with both methods. PCL is a semi‐crystalline polymer, and consequently PCL blocks of PCL‐b‐PVAc are able to crystallize. The purpose of this work was to analyse the influence of the method of copolymer synthesis on the crystallinity of the PCL blocks. The results indicate a significant decrease of the crystallinity of the PCL blocks in copolymers obtained using the coupling method, compared to PCL homopolymers, in contrast to copolymers obtained through the macroinitiator approach for which the crystallinity of PCL is much less affected. This influence of the synthesis method is explained by the presence, in the copolymers obtained using the click reaction, of a rigid triazol cycle binding the two blocks, limiting their mobility and decreasing the tendency of PCL to crystallize. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A strategy is introduced for the synthesis of polyethylene‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) block copolymers by a combination of coordination polymerization and ring‐opening polymerization. First, end‐hydroxylated polyethylene (PE‐OH) was prepared with a one‐step process through ethylene/3‐buten‐1‐ol copolymerization catalyzed by a vanadium(III) complex bearing a bidentate [N,O] ligand ([PhN?C(CH3)CHC(Ph)O]VCl2(THF)2). The PE‐OH was then used as macroinitiator for ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone, leading to the desired nonpolar/polar diblock copolymers. The block structure was confirmed by spectral analysis using 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography and differential scanning calorimetry. The unusual topologies of the model copolymers will establish a fundamental understanding for structure–property correlations, e.g. compatibilization, of polymer blends and surface and interface modification of other polymers. © 2014 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The quasiliving characteristics of the ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone (CL) catalyzed by an organic amino calcium were demonstrated. Taking advantage of this feature, we synthesized a series of poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL)–poly(L ‐lactide) (PLA) diblock copolymers with the sequential addition of the monomers CL and L ‐lactide. The block structure was confirmed by 1H‐NMR, 13C‐NMR, and gel permeation chromatography analysis. The crystalline structure of the copolymers was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction analysis. When the molecular weight of the PLA block was high enough, phase separation took place in the block copolymer to form PCL and PLA domains, respectively. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) macroazoinitiator was synthesized from bis(hydroxyalkyl)‐terminated PDMS and 4,4′‐azobis‐4‐cyanopentanoic acid by a condensation reaction. The bifunctional macroinitiator was used for the block copolymerization of ethyl methacrylate (EMA) and 2‐(trimethylsilyloxy)ethyl methacrylate (TMSHEMA) monomers. The poly(DMS‐block‐EMA) and poly(DMS‐block‐TMSHEMA) copolymers thus obtained were characterized using Fourier transform infrared and 1H NMR spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. After the deprotection of trimethylsilyl groups, poly(DMS‐block‐HEMA) and poly(DMS‐block‐EMA) copolymer film surfaces were analysed using scanning electron microscopy and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effects of the PDMS concentration in the copolymers on both air and glass sides of films were examined. The PDMS segments oriented and moved to the glass side in poly(DMS‐block‐EMA) copolymer film while orientation to the air side became evident with increasing DMS content in poly(DMS‐block‐HEMA) copolymer film. The block copolymerization technique described here is a versatile and economic method and is also applicable to a wide range of monomers. The copolymers obtained have phase‐separated morphologies and the effects of DMS segments on copolymer film surfaces are different at the glass and air sides. Three types of copolymers were synthesized and characterized. First, triblock ABA copolymers [where A is a homopolymer of ?‐caprolactone and B is poly(ethylene glycol)] were prepared by the ring‐opening polymerization of poly(ethylene glycol) with ?‐caprolactone in the presence of stannous octoate (Sn(Oct)2). The spectral, thermal, and mechanical properties of one sample of these copolymers were studied, and it was discovered that these types of copolymers were more hydrophilic, possessed lower melting points, and had superior mechanical properties (greater toughness) than poly(?‐caprolactone). Second, triblock ABA copolymers [where A is a homopolymer of L ‐lactide and B is poly(ethylene glycol)] were prepared by the ring‐opening polymerization of poly(ethylene glycol) with L ‐lactide in the presence of Sn(Oct)2. The mechanical properties of these copolymers were studied, and it was found that they were tougher and softer than poly(L ‐lactide). Third, novel ABA triblock copolymers [where A is a copolymer of ?‐caprolactone and L ‐lactide and B is poly(ethylene glycol)] were prepared, and 1H‐NMR and 13C‐NMR spectra of these copolymers indicated a microblock structure for the two end blocks. The stress–strain behavior revealed low yields and high toughness for these copolymers. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 83: 2072–2081, 2002  相似文献

Hexa‐armed star‐shaped poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide) (6sPCL‐b‐PLLA) with dipentaerythritol core were synthesized by a two‐step ring‐opening polymerization. GPC and 1H NMR data demonstrate that the polymerization courses are under control. The molecular weight of 6sPCLs and 6sPCL‐b‐PLLAs increases with increasing molar ratio of monomer to initiator, and the molecular weight distribution is in the range of 1.03–1.10. The investigation of the melting and crystallization demonstrated that the values of crystallization temperature (Tc), melting temperature (Tm), and the degree of crystallinity (Xc) of PLLA blocks are increased with the chain length increase of PLLA in the 6sPCL‐b‐PLLA copolymers. On the contrary, the crystallization of PCL blocks dominates when the chain length of PLLA is too short. According to the results of polarized optical micrographs, both the spherulitic growth rate (G) and the spherulitic morphology are affected by the macromolecular architecture and the length of the block chains. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This paper deals with the synthesis of a series of six‐armed star diblock copolymers based on poly(l ‐lactide) (PLLA) and poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) by ring‐opening polymerization using stannous octoate as catalyst and the preparation of polylactide (PLA)/PCL linear blends using a solution blending technique, while keeping the PLA‐to‐PCL ratio comparable in both systems. The thermal, rheological and mechanical properties of the copolymers and the blends were comparatively studied. The melting point and the degree of crystallinity were found to be lower for the copolymers than the blends due to poor folding property of star copolymers. Dynamic rheology revealed that the star polymers have lower elastic modulus, storage modulus and viscosity as compared to the corresponding blends with similar composition. The blends show two‐phase dispersed morphology whereas the copolymers exhibited microphase separated morphology with elongated (worm‐like) microdomains. The crystalline structures of the copolymers were characterized by larger crystallites than their blend counterparts, as estimated using Sherrer's equation based on wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction data. © 2016 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The chemoenzymatic synthesis of a novel diblock copolymer consisting of a hydrocarbon block of polycaprolactone (PCL) and an epoxy‐based block of poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) was achieved by the combination of enzymatic ring‐opening polymerization (eROP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). A trichloromethyl‐terminated PCL macrointiator was obtained via Novozyme 435‐catalyzed eROP of ε‐caprolactone from a bifunctional initiator, 2,2,2‐trichloroethanol, under anhydrous conditions. PCL‐b‐PGMA diblock copolymers were synthesized in a subsequent ATRP of glycidyl methacrylate. The kinetics analysis of ATRP indicated a ‘living’/controlled radical polymerization. The macromolecular structure and thermal properties of the PCL macroinitiator and of the diblock copolymer were characterized using NMR spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography and differential scanning calorimetry. The well‐defined PCL‐b‐PGMA amphiphilic diblock copolymer self‐assembled in aqueous solution into nanoscale micelles. The size and shape of the resulting micelles were investigated using dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy and tapping‐mode atomic force microscopy. Poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(L ‐lactide) [P(LL‐co‐CL)‐b‐PLL] diblock copolyesters were synthesized in a two‐step process with 1‐dodecanol (DDC) and stannous octoate as the initiating system. In the first‐step reaction, a 50:50 mol % amorphous poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) [P(LL‐co‐CL)] copolyester was synthesized via the bulk copolymerization of L ‐lactide and ε‐caprolactone, which was followed by the polymerization of the PLL crystalline block at the end chain in the second‐step reaction. The yielded copolyesters were characterized with dilute‐solution viscometry, gel permeation chromatography, 1H‐ and 13C‐NMR, and differential scanning calorimetry methods. The molecular weights of the P(LL‐co‐CL) copolyesters from the first‐step reaction were controlled by the DDC concentrations, whereas in the second‐step reaction, the molecular weights of the P(LL‐co‐CL)‐b‐PLL diblock copolyesters depended on the starting P(LL‐co‐CL) copolyester molecular weights and L ‐lactide/prepolymer molar ratios. The starting P(LL‐co‐CL) copolyester molecular weights and PLL block lengths seemed to be the main factors affecting specific thermal properties, including the melting temperature (Tm), heat of melting (ΔHm), crystallizing temperature (Tc), and heat of crystallizing (ΔHc), of the final P(LL‐co‐CL)‐b‐PLL diblock copolyester products. Tm, ΔHm, Tc, and ΔHc increased when the PLL block lengths increased. However, these thermal properties of the diblock copolyesters also decreased when the P(LL‐co‐CL) block lengths increased. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2007  相似文献

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) characterization of the statistical copolymers of this study showed that the poly(ε‐caprolactone‐co‐L‐lactide)s, with ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL) molar contents ranging from 70 to 94% and ε‐CL average sequence length (lCL) between 2.20–9.52, and the poly(ε‐caprolactone‐co‐δ‐valerolactone)s, with 60 to 85% of ε‐CL and lCL between 2.65–6.08, present semi‐alternating (R→2) and random (R~1) distribution of sequences, respectively. These syntheses were carried out with the aim of reducing the crystallinity of poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL), needed to provide mechanical strength to the material but also responsible for its slow degradation rate. However, this was not achieved in the case of the ε‐caprolactone‐co‐δ‐valerolactone (ε‐CL‐co‐δ‐VAL). Non‐isothermal cooling treatments at different rates and isothermal crystallizations (at 5, 10, 21 and 37°C) were conducted by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and demonstrated that ε‐CL copolymers containing δ‐valerolactone (δ‐VAL) exhibited a larger crystallization capability than those of L‐lactide (L‐LA) and also arranged into crystalline structures over shorter times. The crystallization enthalpies of the ε‐CL‐co‐δ‐VAL copolymers during the cooling treatments and their heat of fusion (ΔHm) at the different isothermal temperatures were very large (i.e. ΔHc > 53 Jg?1) and in some cases, unrelated to the copolymer composition. In some compositions, such as the 60 : 40, Wide Angle X‐ray Scattering (WAXS) proved that that these two lactones undergo isomorphism and co‐crystallize in a single cell. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Combination of the organic–inorganic hybrid such as silsesquioxane with ε‐caprolactone will lead to materials expected to be environmentally friendly and applicable to biomedical usages. A ladder‐like poly(phenyl silsesquioxane) based hybrid star‐shaped copolymer of ε‐caprolactone was prepared by ring opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone catalyzed by Sn(Oct)2 with hydroxyl terminated ladder‐like poly(phenyl silsesquioxane) as initiator. The copolymers were characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), silicon nuclear magnetic resonance (29Si‐NMR), Fourier‐transform infrared spectrometer (FT‐IR), size exclusion chromatography (SEC), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in detail. Furthermore, the enzymatic degradation property of the copolymers was also investigated. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. Sci. 2015 , 132, 42335.  相似文献

The confined crystallization of poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) block in poly(?‐caprolactone)–poly(l ‐lactide) (PCL‐PLLA) copolymers was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscopy, scanning electronic microscopy and atomic force microscopy. To study the effect of crystallization and molecular chain motion state of PLLA blocks in PCL‐PLLA copolymers on PCL crystallization morphology, high‐temperature annealing (180 °C) and low‐temperature annealing (80 °C) were applied to treat the samples. It was found that the crystallization morphology of PCL block in PCL‐PLLA copolymers is not only related to the ratio of block components, but also related to the thermal history. After annealing PCL‐PLLA copolymers at 180 °C, the molten PCL blocks are rejected from the front of PLLA crystal growth into the amorphous regions, which will lead to PCL and PLLA blocks exhibiting obvious fractionated crystallization and forming various morphologies depending on the length of PLLA segment. On the contrary, PCL blocks more easily form banded spherulites after PCL‐PLLA copolymers are annealed at 80 °C because the preexisting PLLA crystal template and the dangling amorphous PLLA chains on PCL segments more easily cause unequal stresses at opposite fold surfaces of PCL lamellae during the growth process. Also, it was found that the growth rate of banded spherulites is less than that of classical spherulites and the growth rate of banded spherulites decreases with decreasing band spacing. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

The triblock energetic copolymer poly(lactic acid)‐block‐(glycidylazide polymer)‐block‐polystyrene (PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS) was synthesized successfully through atom‐transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene and ring‐opening polymerization of d,l ‐lactide. The energetic macroinitiator GAP‐Br, which was made from reacting equimolar GAP with α‐bromoisobutyryl bromide, firstly triggered the ATRP of styrene with its bromide group, and then the hydroxyl group on the GAP end of the resulting diblock copolymer participated in the polymerization of lactide in the presence of stannous octoate. The triblock copolymer PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS had a narrow distribution of molecular weight. In the copolymer, the PS block was solvophilic in toluene and improved the stability of the structure, the PLA block was solvophobic in toluene and served as the sacrificial component for the preparation of porous materials, and GAP was the basic and energetic material. The three blocks of the copolymer were fundamentally thermodynamically immiscible, which led to the self‐assembly of the block copolymer in solution. Further studies showed that the concentration and solubility of the copolymer and the polarity of the solvent affected the morphology and size of the micelles generated from the self‐assembly of PLA‐b‐GAP‐b‐PS. The micelles generated in organic solvents at 10 mg mL?1 copolymer concentration were spherical but became irregular when water was used as a co‐solvent. The spherical micelles self‐assembled in toluene had three distinct layers, with the diameter of the micelles increasing from 60 to 250 nm as the concentration of the copolymer increased from 5 to 15 mg L?1. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

In this article, a new kind of biodegradable poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐based polyurethane (PCEC‐U) copolymers were successfully synthesized by melt‐polycondensation method from ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), 1,4‐butanediol (BD), and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI). The obtained copolymers were characterized by 1H‐nuclear magnetic resonance (1H‐NMR), FTIR, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Thermal properties of PCEC‐U copolymers were studied by DSC and TGA/DTG under nitrogen atmosphere. Water absorption and hydrolytic degradation behavior of these copolymers were also investigated. Hydrolytic degradation behavior was studied by weight loss method. 1H‐NMR and GPC were also used to characterize the hydrolytic degradation behavior of PCEC‐U copolymers. The molecular weight of PCL block and PEG block in soft segment and the content of hard segment strongly affected the water absorption and hydrolytic degradation behavior of PCEC‐U copolymers. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The miscibility, crystallization kinetics and crystalline morphology of a new system of poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(?‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(dimethylsiloxane)‐block‐poly(?‐caprolactone) (PVDF/PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL) triblock copolymer were investigated by a variety of techniques. The miscibility and phase behaviour of PVDF/PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL were studied by determination of the melting point temperature, crystallization kinetics and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) mapping. Chemical imaging was used as a new technique to characterize the interaction of polymer blends in crystalline morphology. The results demonstrate the existence of characteristic peaks of both PVDF and PCL in the chosen crystalline area. The crystalline structures of PVDF were affected by the PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL triblock copolymer and facilitate the formation of the β polymorph which was illustrated by FTIR analysis. The β crystal phase fraction increases significantly on increasing the composition of the PCL‐b‐PDMS‐b‐PCL triblock copolymer. In addition, confined crystallization of PCL within PVDF inter‐lamellar and/or inter‐fibrillar regions was confirmed through polarizing optical microscopy, wide‐angle X‐ray diffraction and small‐angle X‐ray scattering analysis. © 2019 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A facile approach is offered to synthesize well‐defined amphiphilic ABC triblock copolymers composed of poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether (MPEO) as A block, poly(L ‐lysine) (PLLys) as B block, and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) as C block by a combination of ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) and click reactions. The propargyl‐terminated poly(Z‐L ‐lysine)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (MPEO‐PzLLys‐PCL) diblock copolymers were synthesized via the ring‐opening polymerization of Nε‐carbobenzoxy‐L ‐lysine N‐carboxyanhydride (Z‐L ‐Lys NCA) in DMF at room temperature using propargyl amine as an initiator and the resulting amino‐terminated poly(Z‐L ‐lysine) then used in situ as a macroinitiator for the polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of stannous octoate as a catalyst. The triblock copolymers poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether –block‐poly(Z‐L ‐lysine)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (MPEO‐PzLLys‐PCL) were synthesized via the click reaction of the propargyl‐terminated PzLLys‐PCL and azido‐terminated poly(ethylene glycol) monomethyl ether (PEO‐N3) in the presence of CuBr and 1,1,4,7,7‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) catalyst system. After the removal of Z groups of L ‐lysine units, amphiphilic and biocompatible ABC triblock copolymers MPEO‐PLLys‐PCL were obtained. The structural characteristics of these ABC triblock copolymers and corresponding precursors were characterized by NMR, IR, and GPC. These results showed the click reaction was highly effective. Therefore, a facile approach is offered to synthesize amphiphilic and biocompatible ABC triblock copolymers consisting of polyether, polypeptide and polyester. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
