The diagnosis of thyroid malignancy by fine needle aspiration (FNA) examination has been proven to show wide variations of sensitivity and specificity. This paper proposes the utilization of a computer-aided diagnosis system based on a supervised classification algorithm from the artificial immune systems to assist the task of thyroid malignancy diagnosis. The core of the proposed algorithm is the so-called BoxCells, which are defined as parallelepipeds in the feature space. Properly defined operators act on the BoxCells in order to convert them into individual, elementary classifiers. The proposed algorithm is applied on FNA data from 2016 subjects with verified diagnosis and has exhibited average specificity higher than 99%, 90% sensitivity, and 98.5% accuracy. Furthermore, 24% of the cases that are characterized as ldquosuspiciousrdquo by FNA and are histologically proven nonmalignancies have been classified correctly. 相似文献

A model of the pathways controlling the size of the human pupil is presented. Computer simulation of this model demonstrates the role played by each of the elements in the pupil pathways. Simulations of the effects of drugs and a few common abnormalities in the system also help to illustrate the workings of the internal processes. 针对SDRAM的读写操作具有一定的流水特性,“Garfield”的EMI(外部存储接口)设计中加入了指令缓冲(先入先出,FIFO),充分利用SDRAM的Burst模式.在处理器进行指令预取时,减少指令读取的平均等待时间。但这种方法的关键问题在于.如何选择恰当的指令缓冲深度.从而最大可能地提高整个芯片的执行效率。本文提出了一种基于软件模型来评估。首先介绍了为什么要在基于ARM7TDMI的外部存储器接口中插入指令FIFO,及如何通过软件建模的方法,用指令集模拟器和存储子系统模型模拟真实硬件环境。然后探讨了采用什么标准去评估指令执行效率的提高,最后通过实验数据得到对SDRAM指令FIFO的性能的评估。 相似文献

Interactive movies are proposed as a new type of media produced by combining new trends found in movies, communications, and games. With interactive movies, we are able to build cyberspaces rich to the feeling of presence by applying computer graphics and 3D observation, and to get the feeling of complete immersion in these spaces, as if we were actually in them. In addition, it is possible to experience stories through interaction with other characters in the spaces. We first explain the concept of interactive movies and describe a first prototype system that we have developed. This paper presents a time domain analysis of a microwave 10-GHz FET oscillator, which employs a practical and efficient computer model for the FET. Good agreement is demonstrated between the predicted and measured performance. A sensitivity analysis of the circuit is performed with respect to some of the FET parameters. In this paper, we present preliminary results comparing the nature of the errors introduced by the mixture of principal components (MPC) model with a wavelet transform and the Karhunen Loève transform (KLT) for the lossy compression of brain magnetic resonance (MR) images. MPC, wavelets and KLT were applied to image blocks in a block transform coding scheme. The MPC model partitions the space of image blocks into a set of disjoint classes and computes a separate KLT for each class. In our experiments, though both the wavelet transform and KLT obtained a higher peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) than MPC, according to radiologists, MPC preserved the texture and boundaries of gray and white matter better than the wavelet transform or KLT. 相似文献

improvements in the thermoelectric figure of merit, ZT, have recently been reported in nanostructures, compared to the raw materials. In addition, low dimensionality can improve
a device’s power factor, offering an additional enhancement in ZT. In this work the atomistic sp3d5s* spin-orbit-coupled tight-binding model is used to calculate the electronic structure of silicon nanowires (NWs). The Landauer
formalism is applied to calculate an upper limit for the electrical conductivity, the Seebeck coefficient, and the power factor.
We examine n-type and p-type nanowires with diameters from 3 nm to 12 nm, in [100], [110], and [111] transport orientations, at different doping
concentrations. Using experimental values for the lattice thermal conductivity in nanowires, an upper limit for ZT is computed. We find that at room temperature, scaling the diameter below 7 nm can at most double the power factor and enhance
ZT. In some cases, however, scaling does not enhance the performance at all. Orientations, geometries, and subband engineering
