Telecommunications in Urban Public Services

This paper surveys present municipal communications, the potential for interactive modes in municipal communication systems, and some illustrative applications of the new cable systems for governmental and public service communications. Constraints which will inhibit some applications in the near future are summarized. Many diverse and competing interests will interact in the evolution of the new cable systems and the development of plans for controlling their operation. It is not assured that the public interest will be adequately represented or well served in this process.     

Accessing Experimental Telecommunications Services

The interface between a machine, which provides a variety of services, and the user (the one served) is described. These experimental telecommunications services include enhanced calling, personal assistance, and electronic messaging. They are felt to be mutually consistent and are perceived at a user's instrument, called a teleterminal. A tree-like structure for the access of services, which is customizable to the point of being user-alterable, is presented and justified. This access software and the physical teleterminal combine the concepts of selection from a menu, traversing a tree, and the relabeling of buttons. An illustration is presented and several generalizations are discussed. The research nature of the project is emphasized.     

A New Theoretical Model for Pricing Telecommunications Services

The main methods of pricing telecommunications services can be summarized in two kinds:one is based on average cost, the other, on marginal cost. In order to combine the advantages of these two methods and overcome their disadvantages, this paper proposes a new theoretical model for pricing telecommunications services, the so-called comprehensive evaluation model, to evaluate the pricing methods.

Web Services in Communications Services

The tremendous potential of Web Services to revolutionise distributed computing has been the subject of intense excitement across the spectrum of IT professionals. The communications industry has also realised the potential for using Web Services for constructing communication solutions. However, as yet there are relatively few real implementations of the technology, especially when applied to the real-time communications space. This paper describes a case study of a BT product that uses web services to offer real-time communications capability. The experiences gained during the development and deployment of this service are described. Based on these experiences, a future service with a richer set of capabilities is then proposed. 一种基于Web服务的信任评估模型

处于开放网络环境中的Web服务,时刻面临着遭遇恶意欺诈行为的风险,因此在Web服务体系中构建安全可靠的信任管理机制成为必然趋势.根据Web服务的特点,提出了一种新的信任评估模型,把对Web服务的信任度量归纳为业绩信任度和用户评价信任度两种情况.在实施信任度评估时,重点考虑服务时间、服务结果、恶意行为对信任度的影响,并按新的信任评估模型设计了Web服务的体系结构,说明了新体系结构下Web服务的应用过程.仿真结果表明提出的信任评估模型能较好地辨别Web服务应用中的恶意欺诈行为.     

A Survey of Pervasive Services

With the technological advances and market development, telecommunications networks and the Internet are converging into one universal network; meanwhile, the services provided by these two kinds of networks are integrating. Pervasive services will meet demands and expectations from all aspects. The topic has become a favorite for research in Beyond Third Generation (B3G), Next Generation Network (NGN) and Next Generation Internet (NGI) fields. The concept of the pervasive services comes from pervasive computation and B3G. Their features include pervasiveness, mobility, transparency, QoS-guarantee, customization, adaptiveness, push, security, easiness, variety and time-to-market. 3GPP, OMA and the B3G research program of the European Union (EU) have conducted a lot of research work about the different features of pervasive services. The current hot topics in the pervasive services research include context awareness and service enabling.     

中国网络隐私保护综述

本文阐述了中国网络隐私保护概况.首先,梳理了中国典型的网络用户隐私泄露案例,特别详细地介绍了2011年12月发生的“泄密门”事件,并解释了事件发生的原因.其次,描述了“泄密门”发生后中国政府与中国产业界给出了积极的响应.然后,列举了中国与用户隐私相关的法律法规.再次,针对隐私信息泄露,梳理所面临的各种安全威胁.最后,总结了中国现有隐私安全相关的安全产品,并针对如何保护用户隐私,从中国产业界各成员角度给出安全建议.     

The Application of Telecommunications to City Services

In June 1971, the Committee on Telecommunications, National Academy of Engineering produced a report "Communications Technology for Urban Improvement" containing some twenty specific ideas on the use of telecommunications-information technologies to improve living conditions in U. S. cities. The suggestions covered such urban applications as citizen-local government interaction, education, health care, environmental monitoring, transportation, citizen safety, and emergency services. In the several years that have elapsed since the Committee's report was published, an encouraging number of the suggestions are being implemented or planned experimentally. A relative lack of market aggregation, and other problems attendant on experiments involving cities has resulted in the Federal Government being the principal fundor of experiments. The Committee on Telecommunications is now carrying out studies in the following areas: 1) the planning of the viable metropolitan communications system of the future; 2) reviewing for the Department of Housing and Urban Development its ongoing experiment on the development of information systems to serve city needs, and 3) studying for the U. S. Postal Service the latter's long term, i.e., 10 to 15 year, needs for electronic message distribution systems.

在面向服务的应用中,如何从众多满足要求的Web服务中选取一个最能满足客户要求的服务已经成为人们越来越关心的热点话题。提出了一个新的QoS计算模型来为Web服务提供QoS保障,该模型使用基于QoS的方法来搜索最合适的服务和采用基于用户期望值的方法来计算质量属性和服务的QoS。     

Web与IMS业务融合技术探讨

Web与IMS分别是互联网业务与电信网业务的主流技术,这两类业务的融合是当前的研究热点。概述了Web与IMS业务融合的实质与场景,总结了业务融合的两种技术方案,即基于集成应用服务器的方案与基于ParlayX网关的方案,并从适用场景、Web服务支持、通信效率及可实现性等方面进行了分析比较。两种方案在适用场景和可实现性方面相当,但是第一种方案具有更高的通信效率,并且支持更多的Web服务模型。因此在通常的应用场合下,可优先考虑采用基于集成应用服务器的业务融合方案。     

基于P2P网络的Web Services发现机制

提出一种改进的两层混合式P2P网络模型,用该模型作为web Services发现技术的底层网络.该网络模型主要在两方面进行改进:在网络结构方面提出CP节点分类策略和SP节点分组策略;在网络组织方面提出一种基于Web Services兴趣因子空间的节点分布自调整策略.     

A Management Platform for Commercial Web Services

Web Services offer the promise of allowing BT, along with its customers, partners and suppliers, to be able to assemble distributed applications that span multiple systems and organisations. The commercial drivers for this are cost reduction, new revenue opportunities and a better service through the use of automated end-to-end business processes. To achieve these benefits, BT will require a fully managed internal Web Services infrastructure. At the same time, creating a managed platform for our customers' Web Services deployments provides us with a new business opportunity. Early experience suggests that 20% of the effort in creating a commercial Web Services application is expended in defining the commercial opportunity, the service interfaces and server implementations. The remaining 80% is spent on ensuring that the operational and deployment environment is adequate to support business-grade service levels. Managing that 80% of the problem for our customers is a business opportunity for BT. This paper describes the requirements for a management platform for Web Services and then goes on to describe some of the value added business services that this platform can support.
