A tentative phase diagram for the system Al203-Nd2O3 is presented. Three compounds were obtained: a β -A12O3-type compound, the perovskite NdAlO3, and Nd4Al2O9. The perovskite melts congruently (mp 2090°C), and the two other compounds exhibit incongruent melting behavior: β -Nd/Al2O3, mp 1900°C; Nd4Al2O9, mp 1905°C. Two eutectics exist with the following compositions and melting points: 80 mol% Al2O3, 1750°C; 23 mol% Al2O3,1800°C. Nd4Al2O9 decomposes in the solid state at 1780°C.  相似文献

Composites of β-Ce2O3·11Al2O3 and tetragonal ZrO2 were fabricated by a reductive atmosphere sintering of mixed powders of CeO2, ZrO2 (2 mol% Y2O3), and Al2O3. The composites had microstructures composed of elongated grains of β-Ce2O3·11Al2O3 in a Y-TZP matrix. The β-Ce2O3·11Al2O3 decomposed to α-Al2O3 and CeO2 by annealing at 1500°C for 1 h in oxygen. The elongated single grain of β-Ce2O3·11Al2O3 divided into several grains of α-Al2O3 and ZrO2 doped with Y2O3 and CeO2. High-temperature bending strength of the oxygen-annealed α-Al2O3 composite was comparable to the β-Ce2O3·11Al2O3 composite before annealing.  相似文献

A Nd-doped HfO2-Y2O3 ceramic having excellent transmittance was synthesized by HIPing, using high-purity powders (>99.99 wt%) of Y2O3, Nd2O3, and HfO2. The mixed powder compacts of these powders were sintered at 1650°C for 1 h under vacuum and HIPed at 1700°C for 3 h under 196 MPa of Ar. The specimen after HIPing consisted of uniform grains measuring about 30 μm and having pore-free structure. The optical transmittance of 1 at.% Nd-doped 2.6 mol% HfO2-Y2O3 ceramics ranging between visible and infrared wavelength was almost equivalent or superior to that of a Nd:Y2O3 single crystal grown by the Verneuil method.  相似文献

In the system ZrO2-Al2O3, cubic ZrO2 solid solutions containing up to 40 mol% Al2O3 crystallize at low temperatures from amorphous materials prepared by the simultaneous hydrolysis of zirconium and aluminum alkoxides. The values of the lattice parameter, a, increase linearly from 0.5095 to 0.5129 nm with increasing Al2O3 content. At higher temperatures, the solid solutions transform into tetragonal ZrO2 and α-Al2O3. Pure ZrO2 crystallizes in the tetragonal form at 415° to 440°C.  相似文献

The crystallization of MgO-Al2O3-SiO2-ZrO2 glasses at 1000°C was studied. Isothermal heat treatments of a cordierite-based glass (2MgO.2Al2O3.5SiO2= Mg2Al4Si5O18) with 7 wt% ZrO2 produced surface crystallization of α-cordierite and tetragonal ZrO2 ( t -ZrO2). These phases advanced into the glass by cocrystallization of t -ZrO2 rods in an α-cordierite matrix with a well-defined orientation relation. The t -ZrO2 rods were unstable with respect to diffusional breakup (a Rayleigh instability) and decomposed into rows of aligned ellipsoidal and spheroidal particles. The t -ZrO2 was very resistant to transformation to monoclinic symmetry. With a similar glass containing 15 wt% ZrO2, surface crystallization of α-cordierite and t -ZrO2 was accompanied by internal crystallization of t -ZrO2 dendrites. Transformation of the dendrites to mono-clinic symmetry was observed under some conditions.  相似文献

Synthesis of monodispersed nanophase α-Fe2O3 (hematite) powder to be used as a red pigment in porcelains was investigated using microwave-hydrothermal and conventional-hydrothermal reactions using 0.018 M FeCl3·6H2O and 0.01 M HCl solutions at 100°–160°C. Acicular and yellow β-FeOOH (akaganite) particles 300 nm in length and 40 nm in thickness were dominantly formed at 100°C after 2–3 h, while spherical α-Fe2O3 particles 100–180 nm in diameter were preferentially formed after 13 h using a conventional-hydrothermal reaction. However, a microwave-hydrothermal reaction at 100°C led to monodispersed and red α-Fe2O3 particles 30–66 nm in diameter after 2 h without the formation of β-FeOOH particles. In this paper, the effect of microwave radiation during hydrothermal treatment at 100°–160°C on the formation yield, kinetics, morphology, phase type, and color of α-Fe2O3 was investigated.  相似文献

The vertical section Ti-ZrO2 within the Ti-Zr-O system was investigated by metallographic, X-ray diffraction, electron probe, and melting point studies. Analyses were conducted using arcmelted specimens which had been equilibrated and quenched from temperatures of 600° to 1600°C. The Ti-ZrO2 section is similar to the Zr-ZrO2 system. At high temperatures, considerable amounts of Zr and O go into solid solution in Ti, stabilizing α-Ti to 30 wt% ZrO2. From 30 to 98 wt% ZrO2 an α-Ti+ZrO2 region is defined, and at compositions above 98 wt% ZrO2, single-phase ZrO2( ss ) exists. At low temperatures an α-Ti+(Ti,Zr)3O field exists from 22 to 32 wt% ZrO2; this region decreases in size with increasing temperature until it disappears at 1200°C. Above 32 wt% ZrO2, a three phase α-Ti+ (Ti,Zr)3O+ZrO2 field exists; its stability extends from 1200°C at 30 wt%   相似文献

The influence of Nd2O3 doping on the reaction process and sintering behavior of BaCeO3 is investigated. Formation of BaCeO3 is initiated at 800°C and completed at 1000°C. When Nd2O3 is added to the starting materials, the formation of BaCe1–xNdxO3–δ is delayed and the temperature for complete reaction is increased to 1100°C. Only a BaCe1-xNdxO3–δ solid solution with an orthorhombic crystal structure is present in the specimens for x ≤ 0.1. A secondary phase rich in Ce and Nd is formed within grains and at grain boundaries, when the Nd2O3 content is greater than the solubility limit (x ≥ 0.2). Pure BaCeO3 is difficult to sinter, even at 1500°C, and only a porous microstructure could be obtained. However, doping BaCeO3 with Nd2O3 markedly enhances its sinterability. The enhancement of the sinterability of Nd2O3-doped specimens at x ≤ 0.1 is attributed to the increase in the concentration of oxygen ion vacancies, which increases the diffusion rate. At x ≥ 0.2, the grain size is abnormally coarsened, which is caused by the formation of a liquid phase. While this liquid phase accelerates sintering, its beneficial effect on densification is counteracted by the segregation of the secondary grain-boundary phase which inhibits sintering.  相似文献

ZrO2–Al2O3 nanocrystalline powders have been synthesized by oxidizing ternary Zr2Al3C4 powders. The simultaneous oxidation of Al and Zr in Zr2Al3C4 results in homogeneous mixture of ZrO2 and Al2O3 at nanoscale. Bulk nano- and submicro-composites were prepared by hot-pressing as-oxidized powders at 1100°–1500°C. The composition and microstructure evolution during sintering was investigated by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, SEM, and TEM. The crystallite size of ZrO2 in the composites increased from 7.5 nm for as-oxidized powders to about 0.5 μm at 1500°C, while the tetragonal polymorph gradually converted to monolithic one with increasing crystallite size. The Al2O3 in the composites transformed from an amorphous phase in as oxidized powders to θ phase at 1100°C and α phase at higher temperatures. The hardness of the composite increased from 2.0 GPa at 1100°C to 13.5 GPa at 1400°C due to the increase of density.  相似文献

The transformation of ultrafine powders (particle size, 0.01 to 0.04 μm) of the system ZrO2–Al2O3, prepared by spraying their corresponding nitrate solutions into an inductively coupled plasma (ICP) of ultrahigh temperature, was investigated. The powders were composed of metastable tetragonal ZrO2 ( mt- ZrO2) and γ-Al2O3. On heating, the mt- ZrO2 (or tetragonal ZrO2, t -ZrO2) was retained up to 1200°C. At 1380°C the transformation to monoclinic ZrO2 ( m -ZrO2) occurred and the amount of the m -ZrO2 decreased with the increase in Al2O3 content, thus indicating the stabilization of the t -ZrO2 by the Al2O3, which seems to be explained in terms of the retardation of grain growth.  相似文献

The wettability of binary and ternary glasses belonging to SiO2–Al2O3–ZrO2 diagram has been studied using the sessile drop technique at 1750° and 1800°C. The ternary SiO2–Al2O3–ZrO2 (90–5–5 wt%) glass has proved to be well appropriated as a molybdenum oxidation barrier coating. The addition of 5 wt% of MoO2 slightly improves its wettablity at higher temperatures without affecting its oxidation barrier properties. The Mo comes into the glass network as a mixture of Mo5+, Mo4+, and Mo6+. After oxidation at 1000°C in oxygen atmosphere, the molybdenum remains in the glass network as Mo6+.  相似文献

A 2.45 GHz microwave-sintered Si3N4–Y2O3–MgO system containing various amounts of ZrO2 secondary additives have been studied with respect to phase transformation and densification behavior. The temperature dependent dielectric properties were measured from 25°C to 1400°C using a conventional cavity perturbation technique. Phase transformation behavior was studied using X-ray diffractometry. Microwave sintered results were compared with those of conventional sintered results. It has been found that α to β phase transformation was completed at a lower temperature in microwave-sintered samples than those of the conventionally sintered samples. Density of the microwave-sintered samples increased up to 2.5 wt% of ZrO2 addition and thereafter it showed a tendency to decrease or remain constant. The decrease in density is attributed to the pore generation caused by decomposition due to the localized over heating.  相似文献

Crystal chemistry and subsolidus phase equilibrium studies of the Ba-Nd-Cu-O system near the CuO and Nd2O3 corners have been carried cut at 950°C in air. Two solid-solution series have been identified in the Ba-Nd-Cu-O system. The first series involves the high- T c superconductor phase, and has the formula Ba2–xNd1+xCu3O6+z, where × < ≅ 0.7. At the ideal compound stoichiometry of Ba2NdCu3O6+z, the transformation from the high- T c orthorhombic to tetragonal phase occurs at 550°–575°C in air. This temperature varies as a function of composition, and at x ≅ 0.2 to 0.3 it occurs at 950°C. The second solid solution is the non-superconducting "brown phase" represented by Ba2+2x-Nd4–2xCu2–xO10–2z 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.1. Preliminary phase diagrams of the BaO–Nd2O3 and Nd2O3–CuOx systems are also presented. Standard X-ray diffraction patterns of BaNd2–CuO5 and (Nd1.9Ca0.1)CuO4–z are provided.  相似文献

α-Al2O3-doped (8 mol % Sc2O3)ZrO2 composite solid electrolyte has been investigated in the fabrication of solid-state ceramic gas sensors. The microstructure and electrical conductivity of the composite solid electrolyte have been measured over a range of temperature from 240°C to 596°C. The composite solid electrolyte has been found to exhibit a higher conductivity compared with the commonly used (8 mol% Y2O3)ZrO2 at temperatures above ∼448°C. The sensing characteristics for NO2 detection have been studied in the temperature range of 500–650°C at the low concentration from 10 to 30 ppm and at high concentration from 100 to 500 ppm of NO2. The NO2 sensor was found to respond reproducibly and rapidly to the variations of NO2, concentration, indicating that the composite solid electrolyte has promising application as a solid electrolyte for on-board exhaust gas monitoring.  相似文献

The yttrium–sialon ceramics with the composition of Y0.333Si10Al2ON15 and an excess addition of Y2O3 (2 or 5 wt%) were fabricated by hot isostatic press (HIP) sintering at 1800°C for 1 h. The resulting materials were subsequently heat-treated in the temperature range 1300–1900°C to investigate its effect on the α→β-sialon phase transformation, the morphology of α-sialon grains, and mechanical properties. The results show that α-sialons stabilized by yttrium have high thermal stability. An adjustment of the α-sialon phase composition is the dominating reaction in the investigated Y–α-sialon ceramics during low-temperature annealing. Incorporation of excess Y2O3 could effectively promote the formation of elongated α-sialon grains during post-heat-treating at relatively higher temperature (1700° and 1900°C) and hence resulted in a high fracture toughness ( K IC= 6.3 MPa·m1/2) via grain debonding and pullout effects. Although the addition of 5 wt% Y2O3 could promote the growth of elongated α grains with a higher aspect ratio, the higher liquid-phase content increased the interfacial bonding strength and therefore hindered interface debonding and crack deflection. The heat treatment at 1500°C significantly changed the morphology of α-sialon grains from elongated to equiaxed and hence decreased its toughness.  相似文献

Dense sialon ceramics along the tie line between Si3N4 and Nd2O3·9AlN were prepared by hot-pressing at 1800°C. The materials were subsequently heat-treated in the temperature range 1300–1750°C and cooled either by turning off the furnace (yielding a cooling rate (Tcool) of ∼50°C/min) or quenching (Tcool≥ 400°C/min). It was found necessary to use the quenching technique to reveal the true phase relationships at high temperature, and it was established that single-phase α-sialon forms for 0.30 x 0. 51 in the formula NdxSi12–4S x Al4.5 x O1. 5 x , N16–1.5 x . The α-sialon is stable only at temperatures above 1650°C, and it transforms at lower temperatures by two slightly different diffusion-controlled processes. Firstly, an α-sialon phase with lower Nd content is formed together with an Al-containing Nd-melilite phase, and upon prolonged heat treatment thus-formed α-sialon decomposes to the more stable β-sialon and either the melilite phase or a new phase of the composition NdAl(Si6-zAlz)N10-zOz. Nd-doped α-sialon ceramics containing no crystalline intergranular phase show very high hardness (HV10 = 22. 5 GPa) and a fracture toughness ( K lc= 4.4 MPa·m1/2) at room temperature. The presence of the melilite phase, which easily formed when slow cooling rates were applied or by post-heat-treatment, reduced both the fracture toughness and hardness of the materials.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of bending strength, fracture toughness, and Young's modulus of composite materials fabricated in the ZrO2 (Y2O3)-Al2O3 system were examined. The addition of A1203 enhanced the high-temperature strength. Isostatically hot-pressed, 60 wt% ZrO2 (2 mol% Y2O3)/40 wt% Al2O3 exhibited an extremely high strength, 1000 MPa, at 1000°C.  相似文献

The phase relations in the systems MgO-Y2O3-ZrO2 and CaO-MgO-ZrO2 were established at 1220° and 1420°C. The system MgO-Y2O3-ZrO2 possesses a much-larger cubic ZrO2 solid solution phase field than the system CaO-MgO-ZrO2 at both temperatures. The ordered δ phase (Zr3Y4O12) was found to be stable in the system ZrO2-Y2O3 at 1220°C. Two ordered phases φ1 (CaZr4O9) and φ2 (Ca6Zr19O44) were stable at 1220°C in the system ZrO2-CaO. At 1420°C no ordered phase appears in either system, in agreement with the previously determined temperature limits of the stability for the δ, φ1, and φ2 phases. The existence of the compound Mg3YzO6 could not be confirmed.  相似文献

In this study we used solid-state synthesis to determine the phase relations in the pyrochlore-rich part of the Bi2O3−TiO2−Nd2O3 system at 1100°C. The samples were analyzed using X-ray powder diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with energy- and wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy. A single-phase pyrochlore ceramic was obtained with the addition of 4.5 mol% of Nd2O3. We determined the solubility limits for the three solid solutions: (i) the pyrochlore solid solution Bi(1.6–1.08 x )Nd x Ti2O(6.4+0.3 x ), where 0.25< x <0.96; (ii) the solid solution Bi4− x Nd x Ti3O12, where 0< x <2.6; and (iii) the Nd2− x Bi x Ti2O7 solid solution, where 0< x <0.35. The determined phase relations in the pyrochlore-rich part are presented in a partial phase diagram of the Bi2O3−TiO2−Nd2O3 system in air at 1100°C.  相似文献

The interfacial reaction between Y2O3-partially-stabilized ZrO2 and α-Al2O3 was studied. It was noted that α-Al2O3 forms inside the periphery of the β-Al2O3 grains; its formation suggests the loss of Na2O from the p-Al2O3, either by evaporation or by dissolution in the ZrO2 matrix. The presence of Na2ZrO3 is suspected.  相似文献
