Scientific computing has traditionally been done on workstations, most of the time running on UNIX‐like operating systems. These systems are often very robust, powerful and especially suited to heavy computation tasks; however, the usual user interface is based on a command line with all the information needed for the appropriate functioning of the algorithm. These command lines are seldom user‐friendly but, on the other hand, they allow batch processes to be built. In this work, a model for command‐line‐driven packages is given, and at the same time the model includes objects that can be directly translated into a graphical user interface. A language (Colimate) implementing this model is shown to serve as a bridge between command‐line‐driven programs and more friendly user interfaces. Exploiting the specificness of the user interfaces addressed, powerful graphical interfaces can be built with a very simple syntax and small programming effort. Furthermore, the command‐line program needs not to be modified, so in this way the possibility of making batches is not lost. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

WSH is a window managing command language interpreter (shell) for the UNIX operating system. This interface increases a user's power to communicate with UNIX by providing a process management environment based on an integrated virtual terminal-shell design. Unlike conventional shells, WSH affords its user the ability to monitor and communicate with multiple processes within a single display context. Windows represent virtual terminals in the WSH design, and as such are device-independent abstractions of real terminals. Since the design of the virtual terminal environment is based on UNIX's TERMCAP terminal database facility, WSH is portable across all versions of UNM supporting this feature. WSH requires neither alteration of existing UNIX facilities nor special display devices. The current implementation runs on a Digital VAX 11/780 under Berkeley UNIX 4.1 environment.  相似文献

This paper describes a toolkit designed to construct graphics applications on top of it that are command driven. The aim in its design is to achieve a uniform look-and-feel for the applications developed in the department, and to make it possible to construct demonstration programs or test programs of ongoing research that required a sophisticated user interface with minimal fuss. The present implementation runs under UNIX, but the same philosophy could be used in other environments.  相似文献

Yucca-* is a consultation system which is designed to provide the UNIX user, through a friendly interface, with detailed expert advice on the use of the UNIX command language. One of the principal design goals of this system is the ability to provide correct responses to technically complex queries whose solution may involve the interconnection of several commands, each with multiple options. The realization of such a goal requires two things. First, representation of dynamic knowledge about command behavior at a sufficient level of detail to support solution of the query is needed. Second, a planning mechanism capable of interconnecting such knowledge into a cohesive solution must be provided. This paper first develops the command dynamics representation techniques employed in Yucca-*. It then examines in detail the plan generation mechanism which is used to solve complex dynamic queries. Particular emphasis is placed upon those aspects of the problem which are unique to this particular domain. Since the inception of pipes in the UNIX operating system, the standard UNIX command interpreters, or shells, have supported processes connected only in linear arrangements. This paper explains why linear pipe structures are too restrictive and how the standard UNIX shells have dictated the interface strategy of new commands. A new command interpreter is presented that supports general directed process graphs. Processes and files are considered simply as nodes and pipes as arcs in a process graph.  相似文献

基于机器学习的异常检测是目前IDS研究的一个重要方向.该文对一种基于机器学习的用户行为异常检测模型进行了描述,在此基础上提出一种改进的检测模型.该模型利用多种长度不同的shell命令序列表示用户行为模式,建立多个样本序列库来描述合法用户的行为轮廓,并在检测中采用了以shell命令为单位进行相似度赋值的方法.文中对两种模型的特点和性能做了对比分析,并介绍了利用UNIX用户shell命令数据进行的实验.实验结果表明,在虚警概率相同的情况下改进的模型具有更高的检测概率.  相似文献

In a previous paper we described a self-documented file and a collection of general purpose programs or tools that facilitates the management and analysis of biological data. The tools can be specified in a pipeline to accomplish a specific analysis task. However, we found that it was difficult for investigators to learn the UNIX command language for specifying pipelines, specify selection tasks through a command language, and visualize the data as they were transformed and rearranged. To alleviate these problems we developed an object-oriented user interface for the pipeline programs. The system consists of four major programs for visualization: Vedit, Vgraf, Vscan, and V spread. Vedit is a simple text editor, Vgraf is a flexible graphics program, Vscan facilitates scanning graphically through large files, and Vspread provides spreadsheet-like capabilities. To demonstrate how the visualization programs are used together to accomplish the needed analysis we describe two case studies and then discuss how well the system accomplished the goals of visualization, short learning curve, and user adaptability.  相似文献
