雷士照明加速在扩张

本刊讯4月12日,雷士照明全资子公司——英国雷士照明迎来了其在英国市场的进一步扩张,新扩建的经营场址落成典礼在伯明翰举行,英国政商界人士共70多人应邀前往。共同见证了这一历史性的时刻。据悉。雷士照明于2007年进入英国市场,自2009年始,英国雷士照明实施了在英国市场全面铺开雷士品牌的策略,主要是向英国以及爱尔兰的批发商销售雷士品牌的商业、工业、室内以及室外等照明产品。这一成功的商业模式也为英国雷士照明带来了骄人的业绩,2011年实现销售额1700多万英镑,预计2012年英国雷士照明的销售额将达到2500万英镑。此外,英国雷士照明更多的发展计划也正在酝酿中。计划将增加在其英国国内的生产加工能力,并将重点投资金属加工器械方面。

英国提高燃气和电力价格英国最大的燃气和电力供应商英国燃气公司(BG),1月18日将该公司燃气和电力的零售价格提高15%。此前,英国燃气公司的竞争对手德国能源巨头RWE公司在英国的子公司Npower电力公司以及法国电力公司在英国的子公司EDF能源公司,均已先后将天然气零售价格上调17.2%,电力价格上调12.7%。

正英国脱欧过渡期内CE标志可继续使用伦敦时间2020年1月31日晚11点,英国正式脱离欧盟。根据脱欧协议规定,英国即日起至2020年12月31日将为脱欧过渡期。在此期间,英国仍受欧盟规章制度约束,但双方需要继续针对长远关系协定进行协商。在过渡期内,英国市场上销售的产品仍需要继续使用CE标志,出口到英国的产品也需要继续贴有CE标志。此前由英国境内公告机构所签发的CE标志产品评估证书依旧有效,获证产品可照常进入英国和欧盟市场。

Electrical Power Engineering Education in an Australian College of Advanced Education

Approximately 50 Colleges of Advanced Education have been established in Australia since 1966, of which about 20 have engineering schools. The colleges were created as a direct result of a Federal Government committee's investigation into higher education. The committee recommended the development of more industrially oriented educational institutions as alternatives to the existing research oriented universities. This paper details some of the more important steps leading to the creation of the colleges. It describes how the aims for more industry integrated education are being achieved in the undergraduate electrical power engineering courses at The Capricomia Institute of Advanced Education, one of the smallest and most isolated of the new colleges.

Electrical Engineering Education in India

This paper traces the history of development of technical education in India, with particular reference to electrical engineering. The structure of the present education system is outlined and an account is given of the facilities available for the education of craftsmen, technicians and technologists. Main features of the various educational programs and the requirements for the award of degrees in engineering are explained. The paper also focuses attention on some of the current problems in technical education in India.

Software Engineering Education

Recent trends have led to the expanded use of digital computers in large complex system applications. The major burden of meeting the requirements for these systems has fallen on the flexibility of software. This has placed many demands on all areas associated with digital systems development. A significant impact has been on the development of software personnel required to develop and manage these complex systems. The purpose of this paper is to present a three level program for software education of executives, managers, and engineers which is being offered at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The needs and approaches in satisfying software engineering education requirements are presented. Educational objectives for executives, managers, and engineers serve as the foundation of the curricula, courses, and topics presented.     

Optics Education at Georgia Tech

This paper presents an overview of the development and current status of optics education at Georgia Tech, and gives an assessment of future trends. The problems of course development, prerequisite structure, and team instruction involving multiple university units are discussed.
