This paper describes a primary standard for liquid micro-flow, which covers the flow rate range from 1 ml/min down to 100 nl/min with uncertainties in the range from 0.1% to 0.6% (coverage factor 95%). To realize stable flow rates, METAS applies the principle of generating flow by means of a constant pressure drop over a capillary tube according to the law of Hagen–Poiseuille. The constant pressure drop is mainly possible due to the fact that the relative pressure at the outlet needle remains constant as the outlet needle is positioned just above the beaker collecting the water. The special beaker and the adjustments for the weighing zone to control evaporation will be discussed in the paper as well as measurement results from flow sensors and flow generators, which highlight the repeatability and the reproducibility of the facility.  相似文献

Viscosity effect is one important factor that affects the performance of turbine flowmeter. The fluid dynamics mechanism of the viscosity effect on turbine flowmeter performance is still not fully understood. In this study, the curves of meter factor and linearity error of the turbine flowmeter changing with fluid viscosity variations were obtained from multi-viscosity experiments (the viscosity range covered is 1.0×10–6 m2/s–112×10–6 m2/s). The results indicate that the average meter factor of turbine flowmeter decreases with viscosity increases, while the linearity error increases. Furthermore, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation was carried out to analyze three-dimensional internal flow fields of turbine flowmeter. It was demonstrated that viscosity changes lead to changes of the wake flow behind the upstream flow conditioner blade and the flow velocity profile before fluid entering turbine rotor blade, which affect the distribution of pressure on the rotor blades, so impact the turbine flowmeter performance.  相似文献

Sintered and sintered/gas nitrided cylinders made of low alloyed chromium steel Astaloy CrL + 0.45 C at 7.25 g/cm3 density, have been tested for scuffing resistance and wear rate in a crossed cylinders test setup lubricated with a commercial SAE 10W40 engine oil at 90 °C. The results show large potential of 1 h gas nitriding of the sintered chromium steel cylinders. The nitrided cylinders experienced safe wear at 1000 MPa and scuffing at 1100 MPa at 2.5 m/s. At 0.5 and 0.1 m/s at least up to 800 MPa the wear was mild, as sintered chromium cylinders showed scuffing at pressure lower than 320 MPa and limited wear at 0.5 and 0.1 m/s.  相似文献

The performance of a modified Danfoss 50 mm diameter electromagnetic flowmeter has been investigated when installed downstream from three different pipe diameters—50 mm, 55 mm and 45 mm. The effects of a 3 mm misalignment of the flowmeter, in both the vertical and horizontal planes, with respect to each of the three upstream pipe diameters has also been identified. The largest percentage errors are reported for the 45 mm upstream diameter pipe, with the flowmeter misaligned by 3 mm in the horizontal plane. The vertical and horizontal mean velocity and root-mean-square velocity profiles, measured within the flowmeter using laser Doppler anemometry, show significant variations in comparison with the ideal, fully developed profiles.  相似文献

This paper presents the design and calibration of an ISO non-compliant orifice plate flowmeter whose intended use is for respiratory function measurements in the bidirectional air flow range ±9 L/min.The novelty of the proposed sensor consists of a plate beveled in both upstream and downstream sides: a symmetrical geometry is adopted in order to perform bidirectional measurements of flow rate. A mathematical model is introduced to quantify the influence of temperature on the sensor output. Four different positions of the pressure static taps are evaluated in order to maximize bidirectionality. An index is also introduced in order to quantitatively estimate the anti-symmetry of the sensor's response curve.Trials are carried out to evaluate the influence on sensor output of air temperatures (22 °C, 30 °C and 37 °C) at different values of relative humidity (5%, 55% and 85%). Experimental data show a quite good agreement with the theoretical model (R2>0.98 in each condition). The influence of air temperature on the sensor output is minimized by introducing a correction factor based on the theoretical model leading to measurement repeatability better than 2% in overall range of calibration. The mean sensitivity in the calibration range is about 2 kPa L−1·min allowing to obtain a sensor discrimination threshold lower than 0.2 L/min in both directions. The time constant of the whole measurement system, equal to 2.40±0.03 ms, leads to a bandwidth up to 80 Hz making the sensor suitable for respiratory function measurements.  相似文献

AlCrOxN1−x coatings were arc deposited onto HSS drills and WC–Co end mills at N2/O2 ratios of 0.9–0.75 using DC or 10 kHz pulse bias. Lower O2 content coatings had a hardness of 32.5 GPa. whereas 0.25 O2 ratio coatings were 24–25 GPa. AlCrOxN1−x coated 6.35 mm Dia. HSS jobber drills were tested by drilling 2.5D holes in AISI D2. 10 kHz 0.9 N2 0.1 O2 coatings drilled a mean of 17.6 holes/µm, similar to commercial AlCrN coated drills at 17.8 holes/µm, whereas DC 0.75 N2 0.25 O2 coatings drilled 9 holes/µm. AlCrOxN1−x coated WC–Co end mills had low steady state wear in milling AISI 316L (70 m/min, MQL) and cut >24 m whereas uncoated tools cut 6 m. In contrast to drilling DC 0.75 N2 0.25 O2 tools had the least corner wear and low adhesion on the rake face.  相似文献

This paper presents the statistical analysis applied into the shape of microlenses (MLs) for validating the high-reproducibility feature of their fabrication process. The MLs were fabricated with the AZ4562 photoresist, using photolithography and thermal reflow processes. Two types of MLs arrays were produced for statistical analysis purposes: the first with a cross-sectional diameter of 24 μm and the second with a cross-sectional diameter of 30 μm, and both with 5 μm spacing between MLs. In the case of 24 μm diameter arrays, the measurements showed a mean difference in diameter of 2.78 μm with a standard deviation (SD) of 0.22 μm (e.g., 2.78 ± 0.22 μm of SD) before the reflow, and 2.34 ± 0.35 μm of SD after the reflow. For the same arrays, the mean difference in height obtained was, comparatively to the 5.06 μm expected, 0.76 ± 0.10 μm of SD before the reflow and 1.91 ± 0.15 μm of SD after the reflow, respectively. A mean difference in diameter of 2.64 ± 0.41 μm of SD before the reflow, and 1.87 ± 0.34 μm of SD after the reflow was obtained for 30 μm diameter MLs arrays. For these MLs, a mean difference in height of 0.71 ± 0.12 μm of SD before the reflow and 2.24 ± 0.24 μm of SD after the thermal reflow was obtained, in comparison to the 5.06 μm of height expected to obtain. These results validate the requirement for reproducibility and opens good perspectives for applying this fabrication process on high-volume production of MLs arrays.  相似文献

In this research, the wear of electroless Ni–P and Ni–P–B4C composite coatings was reviewed. Auto catalytic reduction of Ni in nickel sulfate and sodium hypophosphate bath including suspended B4C particles with different concentration was used to create composite coatings with 12, 18, 25 and 33 vol.% of B4C particles. Coatings 35 μm thick were heat treated at 400 °C for one hour in an argon atmosphere and the wear resistance and friction coefficient of heat-treated samples were determined by block-on-ring tests. All wear tests were carried out at 24 °C, 35% moisture, 0.164 m/s sliding speed and about 1000 m sliding distance. Graphs show that an electroless Ni–P–B4C composite coating with 25 vol.% of B4C had the best wear resistance against a CK45 steel counterface.  相似文献

Past studies with PTFE nanocomposites showed up to 600× improvements in wear resistance over unfilled PTFE with the addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles. Irregular shaped nanoparticles are used in this study to increase the mechanical entanglement of PTFE fibrils with the filler. The tribological properties of 1, 2, 5 and 10 wt.% filled samples are evaluated under a normal pressure and sliding speed of 6.3 MPa and 50.8 mm/s, respectively. The wear resistance was found to improve 3000× over unfilled PTFE with the addition of 1 wt.% nanoparticles. The 5 wt.% sample had the lowest steady state wear rate of K = 1.3 × 10−7 mm3/N m and the lowest steady friction coefficient with μ = 0.21.  相似文献

The characteristics of soot particles and agglomerates of particles extracted from samples of lubricating oil drawn from the sump of a diesel engine have been investigated. The engine was a high pressure common rail, direct injection diesel designed for light duty automotive applications. Soot from the samples was prepared for imaging by sample dilution with heptane, followed by washing in diethyl ether and in some cases, sample centrifugation. The size and shape of agglomerates were defined from measurements of projected length and width allowing for chain contortion. When used, centrifugation is shown to alter the size and shape of agglomerates, increasing the proportion of chain agglomerates and reducing clusters. Without centrifugation, roughly half of the soot in oil exists in long-chain agglomerates with average length of 130 nm and 50 nm in width. Clusters with modest branching account for the remaining 46%. The average aspect ratio (L/W) was of 2.9. The diameter of spherical primary particles that form the agglomerates ranges between 10 and 35 nm grouped in a Gaussian distribution with a mean value of 20.2 nm. All primary particles exhibit an inner core and an outer shell. The inner core is composed by several nuclei of around 4 nm diameter. Inner core is of around 8–15 nm in diameter and outer shell 4–12 nm thick.  相似文献

The back-propagation (BP) and generalized regression neural network models (GRNN) were investigated to predict the thin layer drying behavior in municipal sewage sludge during hot air forced convection. The accuracy of the BP model to predict the moisture content of the sewage sludge thin layer during hot air forced convective drying was far higher than that of the GRNN model. The GRNN models could automatically determine the best smoothing parameters, which were 0.6 and 0.3 for predicting the moisture content and average temperature, respectively. The model type for predicting the average temperature of the sewage sludge thin layer was selected for different sample groups by comparing their MSE values or R2 values. The GRNN model was suitable for predicting the average temperature corresponding to the sample groups at hot air velocity of 0.6 m/s, and drying temperatures of 100 °C, 160 °C; hot air velocity of 1.4 m/s, and drying temperatures of 130 °C, 140 °C; hot air velocity of 2.0 m/s, and drying temperatures of 150 °C, 160 °C. The average temperature for the other sample groups was best predicted by the BP model.  相似文献

The main objective of this study was to investigate the applied properties of particleboard panels made from bagasse, which were either treated or not treated with gaseous ozone (O3). Variable parameters were ozone exposure time (1–3 min) at 9 ppm and storage period (1–5 months). Other parameters such as resin content (12 wt%), hardener content (1 wt%), type of hardener (NH4Cl), press closing time (5 mm/s), board density (0.70 g/cm3), and press pressure (30 kg/m2) were held constant. The experimental panels were tested for their mechanical properties including modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of rupture (MOR); and internal bonding strength (IBS) and physical properties in terms of water absorption (WA) and thickness swelling (TS) according to the procedures defined by EN standards. Overall results showed that all panels made from treated bagasse exceeded the EN standards for MOE, MOR, and IBS. However, WA and TS values decreased after ozone pretreatment compared to the un-treated (control) panels. Application of Duncan’s Multiple Range Test for the mean values of the results showed that the effects of both variables, except their interactions, on the mechanical and physical properties were highly significant (p  0.01%). All the mechanical properties of the panels decreased when the treatment duration increased from 1 to 5 months.  相似文献

The paper presents an approach toward an enhancement of the measuring range of high-speed sensors for the measurement of liquid film thickness distributions based on electrical conductance. This type of sensors consists of electrodes mounted flush to the wall. The sampling of the current generated between a pair of neighboring electrode is used as a measure of the film thickness. Such sensors have a limited measuring range, which is proportional to the lateral distance between the electrodes. The range is therefore coupled to the spatial resolution. The proposed new design allows an extension of the film thickness range by combining electrode matrices of different resolution in one and the same sensor. In this way, a high spatial resolution is reached with a small thickness range, whereas a film thickness that exceeds the range of the high resolution measurement can still be acquired even though on the costs of a lower spatial resolution. A simultaneous signal acquisition with a sampling frequency of 3.2 kHz combines three measuring ranges for the characterization of a two-dimensional film thickness distribution: (1) thickness range 0–600 µm, lateral resolution 2×2 mm2, (2) thickness range 400–1300 µm, lateral resolution 4×4 mm2, and (3) thickness range 1000–3500 µm, lateral resolution 12×12 mm2. The functionality of this concept sensor is demonstrated by tests in a horizontal wavy stratified air–water flow at ambient conditions. Using flexible printed circuit board technology to manufacture the sensor makes it possible to place the sensor at the inner surface of a circular pipe.  相似文献

Sodium cooled Fast Reactors (SFR) require measurement of liquid sodium flow in its primary and secondary circuits. For the primary system of the pool type concept of SFR design, flowmeters have to be immersed in sodium pool and require flow sensors which can withstand high temperatures up to 550 °C, nuclear radiation and chemically reactive sodium environment. Secondary circuits and safety grade decay heat removal (SGDHR) circuits of SFR need flow measurement in stainless steel (SS) pipes of diameter varying from 15 mm to 800 mm. For small pipes, flowmeters with permanent magnet flowmeter with ALNICO-V magnet assembly is the unanimous choice. Conventional permanent magnet flowmeters (PMFM) for large pipelines become bulky, heavy and have installation problems. For sodium flow measurement in large pipelines a few other alternate methods are considered. In the case of Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR), which is at an advanced stage of construction at Kalpakkam, flow in the 800 mm diameter secondary main circuit is measured by means of a bypass flowmeter. Other sensors that could be deployed include eddy current flowmeters (ECFM), which are introduced into the pipe to measure flow velocity in the pipe, ultrasonic flowmeters and permanent magnet based side wall flowmeters. In permanent magnet based side wall flowmeter (SWFM), a permanent magnet block is mounted on one side of the large pipe and the magnetic field produced by the magnet penetrates through the pipe and interacts with the flowing sodium and induces an electro motive force (emf) proportional to the flow. This is a compact, cost effective and fairly accurate method for flow measurement in large pipelines of SFR circuits. SWFM is suitable for pipelines of 100 mm and above. In the present work a side wall flowmeter for 100 mm pipe is designed, manufactured, calibrated and tested in an existing sodium facility. Voltage signal developed in SWFM for different flowrates was simulated with three dimensional Finite Element Model (FEM) and validated with experimental results. Effect of asymmetric magnetic field on flowmeter voltage signal and dependence of flowmeter voltage signal on position of electrodes was also analyzed with model. The feasibility of use of this type of flowmeter for large pipelines of SFRs is demonstrated.  相似文献

We describe a flow standard for gas flows in the range from 0.01 sccm to 100 sccm with a relative standard uncertainty (68% confidence) of 0.03% at 1 sccm (1 sccm≡1 cm3/min of an ideal gas at 101325 Pa and 0 °C ≈ 0.74358 μmol/s). The flow standard calibrates a secondary meter by withdrawing a piston from a cylinder held at constant pressure P while gas flows from the secondary meter into the cylinder. The flow standard can operate anywhere in the range 10 kPa<P<300 kPa, and it can act as a flow source as well as a flow receiver. The flow standard incorporated features that improved its convenience and lowered its cost without sacrificing accuracy, specifically (1) dry sliding seals made with commercially available, easily replaced, o-rings, (2) a compact design based on a commercially available, hollow piston, and (3) a linear encoder with a small Abbe error.  相似文献

Wire-mesh sensors (WMS), developed at HZDR [4], [13], are widely used to visualize two-phase flows and measure flow parameters, such as phase fraction distributions or gas phase velocities quantitatively and with a very high temporal resolution. They have been extensively applied to a wide range of two-phase gas–liquid flow problems with conducting and non-conducting liquids. However, for very low liquid loadings, the state of the art data analysis algorithms for WMS data suffer from the comparably low spatial resolution of measurements and from boundary effects, caused by e.g. flange rings – especially in the case of capacitance type WMS. In the recent past, diverse studies have been performed on two-phase liquid–gas stratified flow with low liquid loading conditions in horizontal pipes at the University of Tulsa. These tests cover oil–air flow in a 6-inch ID pipe and water–air flow in a 3-inch ID pipe employing dual WMS with 32×32 and 16×16 wires, respectively. For oil–air flow experiments, the superficial liquid and gas velocities vary between 9.2 m/s≤νSG≤15 m/s and 0.01 m/s≤νSL≤0.02 m/s, respectively [2]. In water–air experiments, the superficial liquid and gas velocities vary between 9.1 m/s≤νSG≤33.5 m/s and 0.03 m/s≤νSL≤0.2 m/s, respectively [17], [18]. In order to understand the stratified wavy structure of the flow, the reconstruction of the liquid–gas interface is essential. Due to the relatively low spatial resolution in the WMS measurements of approximately 5 mm, the liquid–gas interface recognition has always an unknown uncertainty level. In this work, a novel algorithm for refined liquid–gas interface reconstruction is introduced for flow conditions where entrainment is negligible.  相似文献

The density functional theory calculated pressure-dependent shear strength S of a four-layer slab of KCl on a Fe(1 0 0) substrate is compared to previous calculations for a bilayer slab to gauge the effect of film thickness on the shear properties of the film. It is found that the shear strength varies with pressure as S = S0 + αP, where P is the contact pressure. The resulting calculated values for the four-layer slab are S0〈1 0〉 = 62 ± 15 and S0〈1 1〉 = 65 ± 11 MPa while α〈1 0〉 and α〈1 1〉 are 0.06 ± 0.01. The values are very close to those calculated for the bilayer slab of S0〈1 0〉 = 64 ± 9 and S0〈1 1〉 =69 ± 8 MPa and α〈1 0〉 and α〈1 1〉 of 0.05 ± 0.01, and in reasonable agreement with the experiment values. These results suggest that the thickness of the film does not have a profound effect on the shear properties.  相似文献

A modified carbon paste electrode for haloperidol drug based on haloperidol-phosphomolybdate (HP-PM) as an ion-exchanger dissolved in plasticizer DBP and its potentiometric characteristics were discussed. The electrode exhibited a good Nernstian slope of 56.9 ± 0.3 mV/decade with a linear concentration range from 3.2 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−2 M for the haloperidol ion. The limit of detection (LOD) was 1.5 × 10−6 M. It had response time of 5–8 seconds (s), useable in pH range of 6.2–8.6 and temperature of 20–60 °C. The electrode shows clear discrimination of haloperidol drug from several inorganic ions, sugars and some common drug excipients. The sensor was applied for determination of haloperidol drug in urine and in pharmaceutical formulations using potentiometric determination, standard addition and the calibration curve methods. The results are satisfactory with excellent percentage recovery comparable or better than those obtained by other routine methods.  相似文献

The pore water pressure sensors with the six-hole suspended-core polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (SC-PM-PCF) and commercial polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PM-PCF) are designed based Sagnac interferometer and calibrated in the laboratory. According to the theoretical analysis and calibration results, the transmission spectrum is very sensitive to the pore water pressure. It is found that the wavelength of the spectrum has a good linear relationship with variances of the surrounding pore water pressure, and the coefficient of wavelength–pressure of the commercial PM-PCF is 304.41 kPa/nm with the length of 35 cm as the sensing element while the coefficient of the SC-PM-PCF is 254.75 kPa/nm with the length of 100 cm. Finally, the two PM-PCF sensors are applied and compared with the conventional Pore water Pressure Transducers (PPTs) in a physical model test. It is found that measurements of the PM-PCF sensors are in good agreement with the results measured by the conventional PPTs.  相似文献

Roughness of disk media influences the tribological interaction of head-disk interfaces, especially when the intended flying-height is below 5 nm that is required to achieve extremely high-density recording (EHDR). Roughness parameters such as the root-mean-square (RMS) amplitude, however, are influenced by the scale of measurement, such as the scan size. Effects related to scale of measurement such as varying the scan size were investigated and means to reduce such effects were proposed by establishing an “ad hoc” digital filtering procedure. Two types of magnetic disks intended for EHDR were measured by an atomic force microscope (AFM) at various scan dimensions ranging from 0.5 μm × 0.5 μm to 112 μm × 112 μm. The proposed filtering method used the RMS values as a filter design parameter for choosing the appropriate high-pass cutoff wavelength for each scan size. The study revealed the existence of a unique cutoff wavelength that would identify different wavelength regimes and the associated critical scan size in each disk. To substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed filtering method in reducing the scale of measurement effects related to the scan size, other roughness parameters were also calculated subsequent to the filtering procedure. It was found that the proposed filtering scheme effectively reduced the scale of measurement effects in the amplitude parameters (e.g., RMS and the ten-point height variation) and the functional parameters (e.g., material and core void volumes). These parameters exhibited steady-state trends with respect to increasing scan size, indicating reduced scale of measurement effects.  相似文献
