Planning for tourism routes using social networks

Traveling recommendation systems have become very popular applications for organizing and planning tourist trips. Among other challenges, these applications are faced with the task of maintaining updated information about popular tourist destinations, as well as providing useful tourist guides that meet the users preferences. In this work we present the PlanTour, a system that creates personalized tourist plans using the human-generated information gathered from the minube¹ traveling social network. The system follows an automated planning approach to generate a multiple-day plan with the most relevant points of interest of the city/region being visited. Particularly, the system collects information of users and points of interest from minube, groups these points with clustering techniques to split the problem into per-day sub-problems. Then, it uses an off-the-shelf domain-independent automated planner that finds good quality tourist plans. Unlike other tourist recommender systems, the PlanTour planner is able to organize relevant points of interest taking into account user’s expected drives, and user scores from a real social network. The paper also highlights how to use human provided recommendations to guide the search for solutions of combinatorial tasks. The resulting intelligent system opens new possibilities of combining human-generated knowledge with efficient automated techniques when solving hard computational tasks. From an engineering perspective we advocate for the use of declarative representations of problem solving tasks that have been shown to improve modeling and maintenance of intelligent systems.

Prediction of retail sales of footwear using feedforward and recurrent neural networks

Fluctuation of sales over time is one of the major problems faced by most of the industries. To alleviate this problem management tries to base their plans on forecast of sales pattern, which are mostly adhoc and rarely provides solid foundation for the plans. This study makes an attempt to solve this problem by taking a neural network approach, at the process of sales of footwear, and arriving at an optimum neural network model. The algorithms used for developing such model through neural network are both feedforward and recurrent Elman network. The data used in this work are the weekly sales of footwear and the information about the seasonality of sales process. While solving the problem, the focus is on forecasting of weekly retail sales as per the requirement of management. This work would reduce the uncertainty existing in the short-term/middle term planning of sales and distribution logistics of footwear over different time horizons across the entire supply chain of footwear business.     

基于大数据的电网停电承载力分析与应用

为避免调度计划安排超出电网停电承载力,平衡繁重的电网停电任务与电网运行安全裕度之间的关系,保证调度计划刚性执行,有必要在安排停电计划前进行电网停电承载力分析。大数据理论和技术的发展为电网停电承载力分析提供了理论依据和技术条件。本文归纳了进行电网停电承载力分析所需的大数据来源,通过研究历史大数据对影响电网停电承载力的主要因素进行了分析,提出了基于神经网络的电网停电承载力分析模型和方法,通过绿色安全区、黄色预警区和红色危险区直观评价停电数量是否合理,并给出了该方法在山东电网的应用案例。案例表明,本文提出的模型和方法能够有效指导调度计划编制工作,显著提升工作效率并减轻对个人经验的依赖,对调度计划刚性执行和电网停电风险管控具有重要意义。

LEARNING AND VERIFYING SAFETY CONSTRAINTS FOR PLANNERS IN A KNOWLEDGE‐IMPOVERISHED SYSTEM

We present a Bayesian approach to learning flexible safety constraints and subsequently verifying whether plans satisfy these constraints. Our approach, called the Safety Constraint Learner/Checker (SCLC), infers safety constraints from a single expert demonstration trace and minimal background knowledge, and applies these constraints to the solutions proposed by multiple planning agents in an integrated and heterogeneous ensemble. The SCLC calculates how much to blame plan fragments (partial solutions) generated by the individual planning agents. This information is used when composing these fragments into a final overall plan. In particular, fragments whose safety violations exceed a threshold are rejected. This facilitates the generation of safe plans. We have integrated the SCLC within the Generalized Integrated Learning Architecture, which was designed for Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)’s Integrated Learning (IL) program. The main goal of the IL program is to promote the development and success of sophisticated systems that learn to solve challenging real‐world problems based on a simple demonstration by a human expert and exiguous domain knowledge. We present experimental results showing the advantages of the SCLC on two multiagent problem‐solving tasks that were benchmark applications in DARPA’s IL program.     

基于改进粒子群算法的网络计划工期--费用优化

本文提出了一种改进粒子群优化算法。在进化中增加了个体间的协作机制,这种改进后的学习行为更符合自然界生物的学习规律,更有利于粒子发现问题的全局最优解。最后将该方法用于PERT网络工期一费用模型求解,数字仿真表明了算法的有效性。
