This paper proposes a new MIMO based CDMA code acquisition scheme. The pilot codes consist of a number of short Gold code sequences which are transmitted in parallel using a group of transmit antennas. Reception diversity is performed by multiple receive antennas at the receiver. Three different acquisition detection techniques are proposed and compared. Corresponding threshold optimizations are investigated as well. Detection and false alarm probabilities are derived in closed form based on the outputs of non-coherent matched filters. The acquisition performance is evaluated in terms of mean acquisition time (MAT) in Rayleigh fading environment. It is shown that the proposed MIMO acquisition scheme exhibits a much better MAT performance than the conventional single-antenna acquisition scheme. The results reveal that multiple receive antennas can be utilized to significantly reduce the MAT at the expense of receiver complexity increase. On the other hand, increasing the number of transmit antennas makes the MAT performance more robust in the presence of strong interference.  相似文献

This paper compares the meaning of different threshold setting principles in the code acquisition process of a direct sequence (DS) spread spectrum (SS) receiver. The consideration is made mainly in one-path additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. A consideration to a fixed multipath channel is given to see its effect on the results. Also, a consideration for a certain type of fading is given in a case where the signal power is assumed to be considerably lower, i.e., faded, part of the time. For the possible performance measures of code acquisition, the main interest is in the mean acquisition time TMA . The probability of the acquisition in a given observation interval Pacq is also considered to see if different measures have different demands. A matched filter (MF) acquisition is used with and without a verification mode using an active integration. In the comparisons, fixed thresholds, thresholds based on constant false alarm rate (CFAR) criteria, and optimal thresholds in the sense to give either the minimum TMA or the maximum Pacq are used. The results, which are obtained by using a method of selecting the maximum value at the output of the MF, are compared to the threshold cases. The results can be summarized as follows: when the performance measure is T MA, the best results are obtained by using CFAR-based threshold comparison. By a proper selection of the probability of a false alarm, the same performance is obtained as by using the optimal thresholds. 针对直扩码分多址系统提出了一种基于二阶采样技术和模拟匹配滤波器的数模混合型伪随机码捕获方法,详细分析了多址干扰下捕获检测量的统计特性,在此基础上推导出伪随机码捕获的检测概率和虚警概率的理论公式.该捕获方法采用二阶采样和符号交替实现中频信号的正交分解,再利用模拟匹配滤波器在模拟域计算接收信号与本地扩频码的相关值.与基于数字匹配滤波器的全数字捕获方法相比,该方法无需正交解调器和高速A/D转换器,而且具有高速、低功耗等优点.  相似文献

The optimal procedure minimising the mean acquisition time is proposed to determine the parameter values of the code acquisition detector in code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless communication. The optimal relationships among the threshold (vth), the number of correlation samples (N) and the number of noncoherent accumulations (L) are obtained for the code acquisition detector. A suboptimal solution is presented to obtain the integer solution and is shown to reduce the code synchronisation time and the computational complexity of the CDMA receiver.  相似文献

This technique is applied to a conventional hybrid search algorithm and analysis in terms of the probability of detection and false alarm. We describe a decision method using multiple threshold values for direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) code acquisition systems. We apply this technique to a conventional double dwell serial search algorithm and analyze it in terms of mean code acquisition time. Numerical results show that our proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one by 0.2-0.5 sec with respect to the mean code acquisition time because multiple threshold values mitigate the possible decline in search performance caused by the use of a single threshold  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss modeling of the serial code acquisition process in a code division multiple access (CDMA) network. Due to multiple access interference (MAI), the process is characterized by a different probability of signal detection PD and probability of a false alarm PFA in each cell of the code delay uncertainty region. We derive exact expressions for average code acquisition time and its variance. In addition to this, we also present several useful approximations, which enable easy engineering use of these results for practical applications in future Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) solutions. An easily implemented matched filter scheme for acquiring hopping code synchronization of incoming frequency-hopping (FH) signals is analyzed, and its performance is evaluated for two types of jamming: partial-band noise jamming and partial-band multitone jamming. The system is designed to reduce jammer-induced false alarms. The system's matched filter output is compared to an adaptive threshold that is derived from a measurement of the number of acquisition channels being jammed. Example performance calculations are given for the frequency coverage of the jamming either fixed over the entire acquisition period or hopped, that is, changed for each acquisition pulse. It is shown that the jammer's optimum strategy (the worst case) is to maximize the false alarm probability without regard for the effect on detection probability, for both partial-band noise and multitone jamming. It is also shown that a significantly lower probability of false acquisition results from using an adaptive matched filter threshold, demonstrating that the strategy studied here is superior to conventional nonadaptive threshold schemes  相似文献

This letter presents a statistical analysis of the decision threshold for a multi-carrier (MC) DS/CDMA acquisition system with a reference filter. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived, and the mean acquisition time is evaluated as a measure of the system performance. From the results, it is shown that in the performance analysis of the hybrid acquisition system with reference filtering, the statistical evaluation of the decision threshold seems more appropriate than the approximation of the decision threshold adopted in other schemes [7,8].  相似文献

A hybrid correlator architecture is described which combines the serial structure of an active correlator with the parallel structure of a matched filter correlator. The mean PN code acquisition time performance of this hybrid serial-parallel correlator structure is analysed. Results are shown which compare the acquisition performance of the serial, parallel, and serial-parallel structures. The results are for a PN code length of 64 code chips and assumes a Gaussian channel with the receiver detection threshold set to obtain a constant false alarm rate. An enhancement to the serial-parallel acquisition algorithm is also described which can increase the acquisition time performance by about 15% for typical operating conditions. Overall the results demonstrate that the hybrid correlator can provide rapid code acquisition with a limited receiver complexity.  相似文献

New differentially coherent detectors for acquisition of direct sequence spread-spectrum signals are introduced. These detectors are alternatives to the noncoherent detectors that have been considered almost exclusively in the past. The proposed detectors are suitable for commercial code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems which operate with a relatively large noise floor and provide a surprisingly large signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) improvement over the noncoherent detectors of approximately 5 dB. Under the random code sequence assumption, an exact analysis of the differentially coherent detection performance for both full period correlation (FPC) and partial period correlation (PPC) is carried out. The detector performance in terms of detection and false alarm probabilities for both partial and full period correlations is investigated, and the results are compared with those of classical noncoherent detection. A novel hybrid scheme utilizing an adaptive FIR filter is proposed for acquisition of DS-SS signals. Timing information on the delay offset between the incoming DS-SS signal and the locally generated replica of the spreading code is extracted from the tap-weight vector of the acquisition adaptive filter. Expressions for the mean acquisition time, detection, and false alarm probabilities for a coherent, chip synchronous DS-SS system in AWGN are derived. The improvement in acquisition performance over serial search techniques is twice the length of the adaptive filter. This is similar to that gained by other hybrid schemes that search the same number of cells at a time. However, a significant reduction in hardware complexity is obtained. The proposed system is also compared to a system utilizing a partial matched filter structure. Moreover, the same hardware could be used for code tracking and, hence, eliminating the need for a separate tracking loop.  相似文献

In this paper, a new robust auto‐adaptive approach for pseudo‐noise (PN) code acquisition is proposed. It is applied to the generalized multi‐carrier direct‐sequence code‐division multiple‐access (MC DS‐CDMA) systems communicating over frequency‐selective multipath Rayleigh fading channels. This new approach is based on the constant false alarm rate (CFAR) detection algorithm, referred here as automatic selection partial sum ordered statistics (ASPSOS)‐CFAR. The proposed approach does not require any prior information about the background environment and uses maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) method to detect the interfering signals group in the ranked cells for the full reference window. Once this group is identified and censored, the remaining smaller ranked cells are combined to form an estimate of the background noise level to compute the adaptive threshold. Through simulations, the performance of the proposed detector is analyzed and compared with traditional CFAR detectors based on fixed or automatic censoring algorithms. The obtained results show that the proposed detector eliminates the drawbacks of the previously related detectors and offers a robust detection performance to enhance the acquisition process in heterogeneous background environments.  相似文献

This work presents the performance of the direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) parallel acquisition system, previously proposed by the authors (1989, 1990), for nonselective and frequency-selective Rician (i.e. specular plus Rayleigh) fading channels. The acquisition system utilizes a bank of parallel I-Q noncoherent matched filters for the search mode, and a coincidence detector for the verification mode. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived and the mean and variance of the acquisition time are evaluated as a measure of the system performance. The nonselective channel is a Rayleigh fast fading channel, while the frequency-selective channel model is the so-called wide sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (WSSUS), selective only on frequency. The performance of a double-dwell serial search technique is analyzed for cellular code-division multiple-access (CDMA) networks in the case of multiple pilot signals. A general expression for the mean acquisition time is obtained by considering the multiple H1 regions formed by the pilot signals coming from different base stations. The statistics of the demodulator output in code acquisition systems are discussed in detail for synchronous cellular CDMA networks with a focus on the nonstationarity of the interference in the forward link. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are then derived for frequency-selective Rayleigh fading environments in the case where the interference can be approximated by a stationary Gaussian noise process. The theoretical analysis and simulation of the performance of a matched filter code acquisition structure with a median filter as the aiding device to cancel CW jamming in the AWGN channel is described. Both coherent and noncoherent structures are considered. As performance measures, the probability of detection and of a false alarm and mean acquisition times are used. Two kinds of analysis for coherent acquisition structure are presented. At first, the approximation for the pdf of the input signal to the comparator is used. Next, the probabilities are calculated directly. This is called the direct form. For the analysis of noncoherent acquisition, the pdf approximation of the coherent case is used. The performance of the median filter structure is compared to the performance of a simple linear interference cancellation method. The effect of CW jamming can be eliminated by both methods. Fixed thresholds of the comparator and the constant false alarm probability (CFAR) criteria are used. It is concluded that the median filter has a better performance, especially when fixed thresholds are used.  相似文献
