In this paper, nonlinear static and free vibration analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric plates has been carried out using finite element method under different sets of mechanical and electrical loadings. The plate with functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is assumed to be graded through the thickness by a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. Only the geometrical nonlinearity has been taken into account and electric potential is assumed to be quadratic across the FGPM plate thickness. The governing equations are obtained using potential energy and Hamilton’s principle that includes elastic and piezoelectric effects. The finite element model is derived based on constitutive equation of piezoelectric material accounting for coupling between elasticity and electric effect using higher order plate elements. The present finite element is modeled with displacement components and electric potential as nodal degrees of freedom. Results are presented for two constituent FGPM plate under different mechanical boundary conditions. Numerical results for PZT-4/PZT-5H plate are given in dimensionless graphical forms. Effects of material composition and boundary conditions on nonlinear response are also studied. The numerical results obtained by the present model are in good agreement with the available solutions reported in the literature.  相似文献

Based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT), approximate solution for FG (functionally graded) laminated piezoelectric cylindrical shells under thermal shock and moving mechanical loads is given utilizing Hamilton’s principle. The thin piezoelectric layers embedded on inner and outer surfaces of the functionally graded layer are acted as distributed sensor and actuator to control dynamic characteristics of the FG laminated cylindrical shells. Here, the modal analysis technique and Newmark’s integration method are used to calculate the dynamic response of FG laminated cylindrical shells. Constant-gain negative velocity feedback approach is used for active vibration control. The active vibration control to a single moving concentrated loading, thermal shock loading and a continuous stream of moving concentrated loadings is, respectively, investigated. Results indicate that the control gain and velocity of moving loadings have significant effects on the dynamic response and resonance of the system.  相似文献

Here, free vibration analysis of functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) plates with porosities is carried out based on refined four-unknown plate theory. The present plate theory captures shear deformation impacts needless of shear correction factor. A modified power-law model is adopted to describe the graded material properties of a functionally graded piezoelectric plate. Implementing an analytical approach, which satisfies different boundary conditions, governing equations derived from Hamilton's principle are solved. The obtained results are compared with those provided in the literature. The impacts of applied voltage, porosity distribution, material graduation, plate geometrical parameters, and boundary conditions on vibration of porous FGP plate are discussed.  相似文献

Based on the three-dimensional (3D) piezoelectricity, two asymptotic formulations for the cylindrical bending vibration of simply supported, functionally graded (FG) piezoelectric cylindrical shells with open-circuit and closed-circuit surface conditions are presented. The normal electric displacement and electric potential are prescribed to be zero on the lateral surfaces. In the present asymptotic formulations the material properties are regarded to be heterogeneous through the thickness coordinate. Afterwards, they are further specified to be constant in single-layer shells, to be layerwise constant in multilayered shells and to obey an identical exponent-law distribution in FG shells. The method of multiple time scales is used to eliminate the secular terms arising from the regular asymptotic expansion. The orthonormality and solvability conditions for various orders are derived. The recursive property among the motion equations of various order problems is shown. The present asymptotic formulations are applied to several illustrative examples. The accuracy and the rate of convergence of the present asymptotic solutions are evaluated. The coupled electro–elastic effect and the influence of the material-property gradient index on the free-vibration behavior of FG piezoelectric shells are studied.  相似文献

The free vibration analysis of rotating functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shells subjected to thermal environment is investigated based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) of shells. The formulation includes the centrifugal and Coriolis forces due to rotation of the shell. The material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and graded in the thickness direction. The initial thermo-mechanical stresses are obtained by solving the thermoelastic equilibrium equations. The equations of motion and the related boundary conditions are derived using Hamilton’s principle. The differential quadrature method (DQM) as an efficient and accurate numerical tool is adopted to discretize the thermoelastic equilibrium equations and the equations of motion. The convergence behavior of the method is demonstrated and comparison studies with the available solutions in the literature are performed. Finally, the effects of angular velocity, Coriolis acceleration, temperature dependence of material properties, material property graded index and geometrical parameters on the frequency parameters of the FG cylindrical shells with different boundary conditions are investigated.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical method to investigate the multiple scattering of electro-elastic waves and dynamic stress around a subsurface cylindrical inclusion in a functionally graded piezoelectric material layer bonded to homogeneous piezoelectric materials. The analytical solutions of wave fields are expressed by employing wave function expansion method, and the expanded mode coefficients are determined by satisfying the boundary conditions around the inclusion. The image method is used to satisfy the mechanical and electrically short conditions at the free surface of the structure. Through the numerical solutions of dynamic stress concentration factors around the inclusion, it is found that when the cylindrical inclusion possesses higher rigidity and greater piezoelectric constant than the two phases of functionally graded materials, the dynamic stress around the inclusion increases greatly. When the distance between the surface of the structure and the inclusion is smaller, the effect of the properties of the inclusion becomes greater. When the cylindrical inclusion possesses lower rigidity and smaller piezoelectric constant than the two phases of functionally graded materials, the maximum dynamic stress shows little difference; however, the variation of the distribution of the dynamic stress around the inclusion is greater. The effect of the properties of the inclusion on the dynamic stress around the inclusion is greater than that on the electric field. The effects of wave frequency on the dynamic stress and electric field are also examined.  相似文献

This paper studies the dynamic response of functionally graded beams with an open edge crack resting on an elastic foundation subjected to a transverse load moving at a constant speed. It is assumed that the material properties follow an exponential variation through the thickness direction. Theoretical formulations are based on Timoshenko beam theory to account for the transverse shear deformation. The cracked beam is modeled as an assembly of two sub-beams connected through a linear rotational spring. The governing equations of motion are derived by using Hamilton’s principle and transformed into a set of dynamic equations through Galerkin’s procedure. The natural frequencies and dynamic response with different end supports are obtained. Numerical results are presented to investigate the influences of crack location, crack depth, material property gradient, slenderness ratio, foundation stiffness parameters, velocity of the moving load and boundary conditions on both free vibration and dynamic response of cracked functionally graded beams.  相似文献

The transient thermo-piezoelectric response of a functionally graded piezoelectric rod subjected to a moving heat source is investigated in the context of fractional order theory of thermoelasticity proposed by Sherief. The material properties of the functionally graded piezoelectric rod are assumed to vary exponentially along the length, except for the thermal relaxation time and the specific heat, which are taken to be constant. To solve the governing equations of the problem, Laplace transform is applied, eliminating the time effect; the analytical solutions of the displacement, stress, temperature, and electric field in Laplace domain are obtained. Subsequently, the solutions of the considered variables in time domain are obtained by numerical Laplace inversion and illustrated graphically. In calculation, the effect of the fractional order parameter on the variations of the considered variables is presented.  相似文献

Investigated herein is the free vibration characteristics of microbeams made of functionally graded materials (FGMs) based on the strain gradient Timoshenko beam theory. The material properties of the functionally graded beams are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to the Mori–Tanaka scheme. Using Hamilton’s principle, the equations of motion together with corresponding boundary conditions are obtained for the free vibration analysis of FGM microbeams including size effect. A detailed parametric study is performed to indicate the influences of beam thickness, dimensionless length scale parameter, and slenderness ratio on the natural frequencies of FGM microbeams. Moreover, a comparison between the various beam models on the basis of the classical theory (CT), modified couple stress theory (MCST), and strain gradient theory (SGT) is presented for different values of material property gradient index. It is observed that the value of gradient index play an important role in the vibrational response of the microbeams of lower slenderness ratios. It is further observed that by increasing the length-to-thickness ratio of the microbeam, the value of dimensionless natural frequency tends to decrease for all amounts of the gradient index.  相似文献

This paper studies the parametric instability of functionally graded beams with an open edge crack subjected to an axial pulsating excitation which is a combination of a static compressive force and a harmonic excitation force. It is assumed that the materials properties follow an exponential variation through the thickness direction. Theoretical formulations are based on Timoshenko beam theory and linear rotational spring model. The governing equations of motion are derived by using Hamilton’s principle and transformed into a set of Mathieu equations through Galerkin’s procedure. The natural frequencies with different end supports are obtained. The boundary points on the unstable regions are determined by using Bolotin’s method. Numerical results are presented to highlight the influences of crack location, crack depth, material property gradient, beam slenderness ratio, compressive load, and boundary conditions on both the free vibration and parametric instability behaviors of the cracked functionally graded beams.  相似文献

In this article, the functionally graded (FG) cylindrical thin shell formulation is developed by using modified couple stress theory. The equations of motion and classical and nonclassical boundary conditions are extracted based on Hamilton's principle. As a special case, the equations of motion in conjunction with the boundary conditions for simply supported FG cylindrical shell are obtained, and then Navier solution procedure is used for analysis free vibration of nano shell. Afterwards, the influences of different parameters like length scale parameter, distribution of FG properties, and length to radius ratio on dimensionless natural frequency are investigated and compared with classical theory.  相似文献

A postbuckling analysis is presented for a functionally graded cylindrical shell with piezoelectric actuators subjected to lateral or hydrostatic pressure combined with electric loads in thermal environments. Heat conduction and temperature-dependent material properties are both taken into account. The temperature field considered is assumed to be a uniform distribution over the shell surface and varied in the thickness direction and the electric field considered only has non-zero-valued component EZ. The material properties of functionally graded materials (FGMs) are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents, and the material properties of both FGM and piezoelectric layers are assumed to be temperature-dependent. The governing equations are based on a higher order shear deformation theory with a von Kármán–Donnell-type of kinematic nonlinearity. A boundary layer theory of shell buckling is extended to the case of FGM hybrid laminated cylindrical shells of finite length. A singular perturbation technique is employed to determine the buckling pressure and postbuckling equilibrium paths. The numerical illustrations concern the postbuckling behavior of pressure-loaded, perfect and imperfect, FGM cylindrical shells with fully covered piezoelectric actuators under different sets of thermal and electric loading conditions. The results reveal that temperature dependency, temperature change and volume fraction distribution have a significant effect on the buckling pressure and postbuckling behavior of FGM hybrid cylindrical shells. In contrast, the control voltage only has a very small effect on the buckling pressure and postbuckling behavior of FGM hybrid cylindrical shells.  相似文献

This study focuses on vibration analysis of cylindrical pressure vessels constructed by functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composites (FG-CNTRC). The vessel is under internal pressure and surrounded by a Pasternak foundation. This investigation was founded based on two-dimensional elastic analysis and used Hamilton’s principle to drive the governing equations. The deformations and effectivemechanical properties of the reinforced structure were elicited from the first-order shear theory (FSDT) and rule of mixture, respectively. The main goal of this study is to show the effects of various design parameters such as boundary conditions, reinforcement distribution, foundation parameters, and aspect ratio on the free vibration characteristics of the structure.  相似文献

In this paper, state variable formulation for free vibration of the laminated structures bonded and embedded actuators and sensors (piezoelectric and/or piezomagnetic) is established. The present mixed type formulation has the great advantage that the size of the system to be solved is independent of the number of layers and is of order three for free vibration of the laminate with bonded and embedded piezoelectric and/or piezomagnetic layers. Analytical solutions of 3D free vibration of simply supported piezoelectric and piezomagnetic composite plates have been presented. The transfer matrices for either closed circuit or open circuit piezoelectric and piezomagnetic layers are derived. The special case of elastic layer is also treated. The assembly procedure is described for the different electric and magnetic surface conditions. Numerical examples are analyzed to study the vibration characteristics of smart laminate plates with different stacking sequence and different span to thickness ratio.  相似文献

In this article, nonlocal free vibration analysis of curved functionally graded piezoelectric (FGP) nanobeams is conducted using a Navier-type solution method. The model contains a nonlocal stress field parameter and also a nonlocal strain-electric field gradient parameter to capture the size effects. Inclusion of these nonlocal parameters introduces both stiffness-softening and stiffness-hardening effects in the analysis of curved nanobeams. Nonlocal governing equations of curved FGP nanobeam are obtained from Hamilton's principle based on the Euler–Bernoulli beam model. The results are validated with those of curved FG nanobeams available in the literature. Finally, the influences of electric voltage, length scale parameter, nonlocal parameter, opening angle, material composition, and slenderness ratio on vibrational characteristics of nanosize curved FG piezoelectric beams are explored. These results may be useful in accurate analysis and design of smart nanostructures constructed from piezoelectric materials.  相似文献

Non-linear active control of dynamic response of functionally graded (FG) beams with rectangular cross-section in thermal environments exposed to blast loadings is presented. Two FG piezoelectric layers are bonded to the beam surfaces to act as sensor and actuator. Non-linear equations of motion of the smart beam are derived based on the first-order shear deformation theory and the von Karman geometrical non-linearity. Constant velocity feedback algorithm is used to control the dynamic response of the FG beam actively through closed loop control. The generalized differential quadrature method together with the Newmark-beta scheme is utilized to solve the non-linear partial differential equations in spatial and time domains. The resulted non-linear algebraic equations are then solved using the modified Newton–Raphson method. A detailed analysis of the influence of the geometric non-linearity, material parameters and temperature field on the active vibration control of FG beams subjected to various impulsive loads is carried out.  相似文献

The present research develops a three-dimensional multi-field formulation of a functionally graded piezoelectric thick shell of revolution by using tensor analysis. An orthogonal curvilinear coordinate system was employed, and basic geometric equations were derived for an arbitrary thick shell of revolution with variable thickness and curvature. Mechanical and electrical properties were assumed to vary along a three-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system with arbitrary functional distribution. The functional of the introduced shell was derived by using kinetic and potential energy of the structure based on three orthogonal displacement components, electric potential and material properties. The final differential equations were derived in general state for every arbitrary structure and material property distributions. The obtained equations were reduced for functionally graded and functionally graded piezoelectric cylindrical shells and the mentioned reduced equations were verified by comparison with the literature. Trueness and generality of the present results can be justified by capability of these equations for different geometries and material properties.  相似文献

In this paper, the response of a circular cylindrical thin shell made of the functionally graded material based on the generalized theory of thermoelasticity is obtained. The governing equations of the generalized theory of thermoelasticity and the energy equations are simultaneously solved for a functionally graded axisymmetric cylindrical shell subjected to thermal shock load. Thermoelasticity with second sound effect in cylindrical shells based on the Lord–Shulman model is compared with the Green–Lindsay model. A second‐order shear deformation shell theory, that accounts for the transverse shear strains and rotations, is considered. Including the thermo‐mechanical coupling and rotary inertia, a Galerkin finite element formulation in space domain and the Laplace transform in time domain is used to formulate the problem. The inverse Laplace transform is obtained using a numerical algorithm. The shell is graded through the thickness assuming a volume fraction of metal and ceramic, using a power law distribution. The effects of temperature field for linear and non‐linear distributions across the shell thickness are examined. The results are validated with the known data in the literature.
