The voltage model used for direct vector control has in the flux calculation process an open integration problem, which is generally solved with a feedback loop. In this paper, a new design method is developed for the feedback loop of the integrator. The method, as apart from standards in the literature, uses a fuzzy controller. Fuzzy controllers are knowledge-based systems that include fuzzy rules and fuzzy membership functions to incorporate human knowledge into their knowledge base. The determination of these rules and membership functions is one the key problems when designing fuzzy controllers, and is generally affected by subjective decisions. In this study, a fuzzy controller with rules and membership functions determined by genetic algorithms (GAs) in this study is designed and tested on various motors of different power ratings. The proposed method is simulated by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and implemented on an experimental system using a TMS320C31 digital signal processor.  相似文献

Rule learning based approach to fault detection and diagnosis is becoming very popular, mainly due to their high accuracy when compared to older statistical methods. Fault detection and diagnosis of various mechanical components of centrifugal pump is essential to increase the productivity and reduce the breakdowns. This paper presents the use of rough sets to generate the rules from statistical features extracted from vibration signals under good and faulty conditions of a centrifugal pump. A fuzzy inference system (FIS) is built using rough set rules and tested using test data. The effect of different types of membership functions on the FIS performance is also presented. Finally, the performance of this classifier is compared to that of a fuzzy-antminer classifier and to multi-layer perceptron (MLP) based classifiers.  相似文献

Training neural networks in distinguishing different emotions from physiological signals frequently involves fuzzy definitions of each affective state. In addition, manual design of classification tasks often uses sub-optimum classifier parameter settings, leading to average classification performance. In this study, an attempt to create a framework for multi-layered optimization of an ensemble of classifiers to maximize the system's ability to learn and classify affect, and to minimize human involvement in setting optimum parameters for the classification system is proposed. Using fuzzy adaptive resonance theory mapping (ARTMAP) as the classifier template, genetic algorithms (GAs) were employed to perform exhaustive search for the best combination of parameter settings for individual classifier performance. Speciation was implemented using subset selection of classification data attributes, as well as using an island model genetic algorithms method. Subsequently, the generated population of optimum classifier configurations was used as candidates to form an ensemble of classifiers. Another set of GAs were used to search for the combination of classifiers that would result in the best classification ensemble accuracy. The proposed methodology was tested using two affective data sets and was able to produce relatively small ensembles of fuzzy ARTMAPs with excellent affect recognition accuracy.  相似文献

This paper presents the properties of information sets that help derive local features from a face when partitioned into windows and devises the information rules from the generalized fuzzy rules for information processing that helps match the unknown test face with the known for authenticating a user. information set is constituted from the information values that result from representing the uncertainty in a type-1 fuzzy set by Hanman–Anirban entropy function. The information values are shown to be the products of information sources (gray levels) in a window and their membership function values. The Hanman filter (HF) is devised to modify the information values using a cosine function whereas the Hanman transform (HT) is devised to evaluate the information source values based on the information obtained on them. Three classifiers, namely the inner product classifier, normed error classifier, and Hanman classifier are formulated. The two feature types based on HF and HT are tested on the AT&T (ORL) database, which contains pose variations in the face images and two other face databases: Indian face Database (IIT Kanpur) and UMIST (Sheffield) using new as well as known classifiers like Euclidean distance- based, Bayesian, and support vector machine classifiers.  相似文献

Support vector learning for fuzzy rule-based classification systems   总被引:11,自引:0,他引:11
To design a fuzzy rule-based classification system (fuzzy classifier) with good generalization ability in a high dimensional feature space has been an active research topic for a long time. As a powerful machine learning approach for pattern recognition problems, the support vector machine (SVM) is known to have good generalization ability. More importantly, an SVM can work very well on a high- (or even infinite) dimensional feature space. This paper investigates the connection between fuzzy classifiers and kernel machines, establishes a link between fuzzy rules and kernels, and proposes a learning algorithm for fuzzy classifiers. We first show that a fuzzy classifier implicitly defines a translation invariant kernel under the assumption that all membership functions associated with the same input variable are generated from location transformation of a reference function. Fuzzy inference on the IF-part of a fuzzy rule can be viewed as evaluating the kernel function. The kernel function is then proven to be a Mercer kernel if the reference functions meet a certain spectral requirement. The corresponding fuzzy classifier is named positive definite fuzzy classifier (PDFC). A PDFC can be built from the given training samples based on a support vector learning approach with the IF-part fuzzy rules given by the support vectors. Since the learning process minimizes an upper bound on the expected risk (expected prediction error) instead of the empirical risk (training error), the resulting PDFC usually has good generalization. Moreover, because of the sparsity properties of the SVMs, the number of fuzzy rules is irrelevant to the dimension of input space. In this sense, we avoid the "curse of dimensionality." Finally, PDFCs with different reference functions are constructed using the support vector learning approach. The performance of the PDFCs is illustrated by extensive experimental results. Comparisons with other methods are also provided.  相似文献

A design method for fuzzy proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers is investigated in this study. Based on conventional triangular membership functions used in fuzzy inference systems, the modified triangular membership functions are proposed to improve a system’s performance according to knowledge-based reasonings. The parameters of the considered controllers are tuned by means of genetic algorithms (GAs) using a fitness function associated with the system’s performance indices. The merits of the proposed controllers are illustrated by considering a model of the induction motor control system and a higher-order numerical model.  相似文献

Fuzzy logic allows mapping of an input space to an output space. The mechanism for doing this is through a set of IF-THEN statements, commonly known as fuzzy rules. In order for a fuzzy rule to perform well, the fuzzy sets must be carefully designed. A major problem plaguing the effective use of this approach is the difficulty of automatically and accurately constructing the membership functions. Genetic Algorithms (GAs) is a technique that emulates biological evolutionary theories to solve complex optimization problems. Genetic Algorithms provide an alternative to our traditional optimization techniques by using directed random searches to derive a set of optimal solutions in complex landscapes. GAs literally searches towards the two end of the search space in order to determine the optimum solutions. Populations of candidate solutions are evaluated to determine the best solution. In this paper, a hybrid system combining a Fuzzy Inference System and Genetic Algorithms—a Genetic Algorithms based Takagi-Sugeno-Kang Fuzzy Neural Network (GA-TSKfnn) is proposed to tune the parameters in the Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy neural network. The aim is to reduce unnecessary steps in the parameters sets before they can be fed into the network. Modifications are made to various layers of the network to enhance the performance. The proposed GA-TSKfnn is able to achieve higher classification rate when compared against traditional neuro-fuzzy classifiers.  相似文献

The most important task in designing a fuzzy classification system is to find a set of fuzzy rules from training data to deal with a specific classification problem. In recent years, many methods have been proposed to construct membership functions and generate fuzzy rules from training data for handling fuzzy classification problems. We propose a new method to generate fuzzy rules from training data by using genetic algorithms (GAs). First, we divide the training data into several clusters by using the weighted distance clustering method and generate a fuzzy rule for each cluster. Then, we use GAs to tune the membership functions of the generated fuzzy rules. The proposed method attains a higher average classification accuracy rate than the existing methods.  相似文献

Abstract: In generating a suitable fuzzy classifier system, significant effort is often placed on the determination and the fine tuning of the fuzzy sets. However, in such systems little thought is given to the way in which membership functions are combined within the fuzzy rules. Often traditional fuzzy inference strategies are used which consequently provide no control over how strongly or weakly the inference is applied within these rules. Furthermore such strategies will allow no interaction between grades of membership. A number of theoretical fuzzy inference operators have been proposed for both regression and classification problems but they have not been investigated in the context of real-world applications. In this paper we propose a novel genetic algorithm framework for optimizing the strength of fuzzy inference operators concurrently with the tuning of membership functions for a given fuzzy classifier system. Each fuzzy system is generated using two well-established decision tree algorithms: C4.5 and CHAID. This will enable both classification and regression problems to be addressed within the framework. Each solution generated by the genetic algorithm will produce a set of fuzzy membership functions and also determine how strongly the inference will be applied within each fuzzy rule. We investigate several theoretical proven fuzzy inference techniques (T-norms) in the context of both classification and regression problems. The methodology proposed is applied to a number of real-world data sets in order to determine the effects of the simultaneous tuning of membership functions and inference parameters on the accuracy and robustness of fuzzy classifiers.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss a fuzzy classifier with ellipsoidal regions that dynamically generates clusters. First, for the data belonging to a class we define a fuzzy rule with an ellipsoidal region. Namely, using the training data for each class, we calculate the center and the covariance matrix of the ellipsoidal region for the class. Then we tune the fuzzy rules, i.e., the slopes of the membership functions, successively until there is no improvement in the recognition rate of the training data. Then if the number of the data belonging to a class that are misclassified into another class exceeds a prescribed number, we define a new cluster to which those data belong and the associated fuzzy rule. Then we tune the newly defined fuzzy rules in the similar way as stated above, fixing the already obtained fuzzy rules. We iterate generation of clusters and tuning of the newly generated fuzzy rules until the number of the data belonging to a class that are misclassified into another class does not exceed the prescribed number. We evaluate our method using thyroid data, Japanese Hiragana data of vehicle license plates, and blood cell data. By dynamic cluster generation, the generalization ability of the classifier is improved and the recognition rate of the fuzzy classifier for the test data is the best among the neural network classifiers and other fuzzy classifiers if there are no discrete input variables  相似文献

We present an approach for MPEG variable bit rate (VBR) video modeling and classification using fuzzy techniques. We demonstrate that a type-2 fuzzy membership function, i.e., a Gaussian MF with uncertain variance, is most appropriate to model the log-value of I/P/B frame sizes in MPEG VBR video. The fuzzy c-means (FCM) method is used to obtain the mean and standard deviation (std) of T/P/B frame sizes when the frame category is unknown. We propose to use type-2 fuzzy logic classifiers (FLCs) to classify video traffic using compressed data. Five fuzzy classifiers and a Bayesian classifier are designed for video traffic classification, and the fuzzy classifiers are compared against the Bayesian classifier. Simulation results show that a type-2 fuzzy classifier in which the input is modeled as a type-2 fuzzy set and antecedent membership functions are modeled as type-2 fuzzy sets performs the best of the five classifiers when the testing video product is not included in the training products and a steepest descent algorithm is used to tune its parameters  相似文献

Fuzzy classification has become of great interest because of its ability to utilize simple linguistically interpretable rules and has overcome the limitations of symbolic or crisp rule based classifiers. This paper introduces an extension to fuzzy classifier: a neutrosophic classifier, which would utilize neutrosophic logic for its working. Neutrosophic logic is a generalized logic that is capable of effectively handling indeterminacy, stochasticity acquisition errors that fuzzy logic cannot handle. The proposed neutrosophic classifier employs neutrosophic logic for its working and is an extension of commonly used fuzzy classifier. It is compared with the commonly used fuzzy classifiers on the following parameters: nature of membership functions, number of rules and indeterminacy in the results generated. It is proved in the paper that extended fuzzy classifier: neutrosophic classifier; optimizes the said parameters in comparison to the fuzzy counterpart. Finally the paper is concluded with justifying that neutrosophic logic though in its nascent stage still holds the potential to be experimented for further exploration in different domains.  相似文献

The fuzzy associative classifier is investigated in this paper. The design methods of the fuzzy associative classifier with genetic algorithm for training are presented. This method trains the weight and back terms to obtain classification rules automatically. Radar radiant points are classified by using of this algorithm, and the simulation results show that the method has higher identification precision than available fuzzy classifiers.  相似文献

How good are fuzzy If-Then classifiers?   总被引:9,自引:0,他引:9
This paper gives some known theoretical results about fuzzy rule-based classifiers and offers a few new ones. The ability of Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) fuzzy classifiers to match exactly and to approximate classification boundaries is discussed. The lemma by Klawonn and Klement about the exact match of a classification boundary in R (2) is extended from monotonous to arbitrary functions. Equivalence between fuzzy rule-based and nonfuzzy classifiers (1-nn and Parzen) is outlined. We specify the conditions under which a class of fuzzy TSK classifiers turn into lookup tables. It is shown that if the rule base consists of all possible rules (all combinations of linguistic labels on the input features), the fuzzy TSK model is a lookup classifier with hyperbox cells, regardless of the type (shape) of the membership functions used. The question "why fuzzy?" is addressed in the light of these results.  相似文献

We introduce a design procedure for fuzzy systems using the concept of information granulation and genetic optimization. Information granulation and resulting information granules themselves become an important design aspect of fuzzy models. By accommodating the formalism of fuzzy sets, the model is geared towards capturing relationship between information granules (fuzzy sets) rather than concentrating on plain numeric data. Information granulation realized with the use of the standard C-Means clustering helps determine the initial values of the parameters of the fuzzy models. This in particular concerns such essential components of the rules as the initial apexes of the membership functions standing in the premise part of the fuzzy rules and the initial values of the polynomial functions standing in the consequence part. The initial parameters are afterwards tuned with the aid of the genetic algorithms (GAs) and the least square method (LSM). The overall design methodology arises as a hybrid development process involving structural and parametric optimization. Especially, genetic algorithms and C-Means are used to generate the structurally as well as parametrically optimized fuzzy model. To identify the structure and estimate parameters of the fuzzy model we exploit the methodologies such as joint and successive method realized by means of genetic algorithms. The proposed model is evaluated using experimental data and its performance is contrasted with the behavior of the fuzzy models available in the literature.  相似文献

An ACS-based framework for fuzzy data mining   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Data mining is often used to find out interesting and meaningful patterns from huge databases. It may generate different kinds of knowledge such as classification rules, clusters, association rules, and among others. A lot of researches have been proposed about data mining and most of them focused on mining from binary-valued data. Fuzzy data mining was thus proposed to discover fuzzy knowledge from linguistic or quantitative data. Recently, ant colony systems (ACS) have been successfully applied to optimization problems. However, few works have been done on applying ACS to fuzzy data mining. This thesis thus attempts to propose an ACS-based framework for fuzzy data mining. In the framework, the membership functions are first encoded into binary-bits and then fed into the ACS to search for the optimal set of membership functions. The problem is then transformed into a multi-stage graph, with each route representing a possible set of membership functions. When the termination condition is reached, the best membership function set (with the highest fitness value) can then be used to mine fuzzy association rules from a database. At last, experiments are made to make a comparison with other approaches and show the performance of the proposed framework.  相似文献

We examine the performance of a fuzzy genetics-based machine learning method for multidimensional pattern classification problems with continuous attributes. In our method, each fuzzy if-then rule is handled as an individual, and a fitness value is assigned to each rule. Thus, our method can be viewed as a classifier system. In this paper, we first describe fuzzy if-then rules and fuzzy reasoning for pattern classification problems. Then we explain a genetics-based machine learning method that automatically generates fuzzy if-then rules for pattern classification problems from numerical data. Because our method uses linguistic values with fixed membership functions as antecedent fuzzy sets, a linguistic interpretation of each fuzzy if-then rule is easily obtained. The fixed membership functions also lead to a simple implementation of our method as a computer program. The simplicity of implementation and the linguistic interpretation of the generated fuzzy if-then rules are the main characteristic features of our method. The performance of our method is evaluated by computer simulations on some well-known test problems. While our method involves no tuning mechanism of membership functions, it works very well in comparison with other classification methods such as nonfuzzy machine learning techniques and neural networks.
