Parallelization of Algorithms and Codes of the Computational System “Potok-3”

The paper discusses creation of modern computational technologies and methods of parallel programming aimed at improving efficiency of solving fundamental scientific and applied problems. Primary attention is focused on theoretical issues and practical implementation of technological decomposition and parallelization of algorithms and codes of the computational system Potok-3, which is designed for the numerical modeling of aerodynamics and physical gas dynamics problems. General problems of portability of methods and algorithms, as well as program packages implementing them, designed for single-processor machines to multiprocessor computational systems are discussed.

Making Effective Decisions in Computer Architects Real-World: Lessons and Experiences with Godson-2 Processor Designs

Although the design of many kinds of microprocessors has been under developing for several decades,the computer architecture R&D community lacks well documented lessons and experiences about design decisions in the research literature.In this paper,we systematically present the design decisions we made during the designing and prototyping of Godson-2 series processors.The 250MHz Godson-2B,450MHz Godson-2C,and 1GHz Godson-2E processors that implement 64-bit,four-issue,out-of-order architecture were taped out in 2003,2004,and 2005,respectively.Each processor triples its predecessor in the SPEC CPU2000 rates.Our first-hand experiences and lessons gained from these designs would provide unique perspectives and insights that are not available in any existing text books and/or published papers.We summarize 10 critical lessons and experiences based on hundreds of our attempts at architectural and design optimizations for performance improvement of Godson-2 series processors.The issues include silicon-simulation correlation,design balancing,performance optimizing,and pico-architecture tuning.We conclude that persistent improvement,attitude towards work-on-silicon design, and insightful understanding of software and fabrication process are the three most important factors for designing a high performance processor with low energy consumption.

With the use of the theory of Quantum Error-correction Code （QECC）, a quantum message authentication scheme is proposed to defend several different kinds of attacks in this paper. The scheme can simultaneously distribute the sharing key and verify the identities of the communicators. Security analysis shows that the scheme is unconditional security.

Merging Functional Form Feature into GT Codes to Enhance the CAD/CAM Integration

The TangShan Research Institute of Group Technology has been engaged in the develop-ment of GT for the light industry machinery building factories since 1980.Under its overall supervisionmore than 8 factories have applied GT to drawing control and process planning,while 4 of them reorga-nized their machine shops into GT cells and the throughput capabilities were raisd immediately by 15 toeven 49%.Since the existing GT coding systems predict only the global characteristics of machine parts,theirapplication alone is unable to transfer all the information needed for the CAD/CAM integration in aCIM environment.From the very beginning of 1989,we started to study the feasibility of introducingconcepts of Functional Form Features into GT codes.Based on the exhaustive study of nearly 100,000part drawings from machineries for making pottery and porcelain appliances,cigarette,paper pulp,glass bottles,plastics moulding,beer and beverage filling etc.,a new GT/FFF coding system wasworked out and a corresponding set of standard drawings assembled from FFF primitives Was formulat-ed which can cover up to 65—75% of existing parts from light industry machineries.FFF based GTcodes greatly facilitate the standardization control of released drawings,accelerate the engineering de-sign and process planning,and certainly will play an important role in the future CIM organization.     

Gröbner Bases over Galois Rings with an Application to Decoding Alternant Codes

We develop a theory of Gröbner bases over Galois rings, following the usual formulation for Gröbner bases over finite fields. Our treatment includes a division algorithm, a characterization of Gröbner bases, and an extension of Buchberger’s algorithm. One application is towards the problem of decoding alternant codes over Galois rings. To this end we consider the module M =  {(a, b) :aS ≡ b  mod x^r} of all solutions to the so-called key equation for alternant codes, where S is a syndrome polynomial. In decoding, a particular solution (Σ, Ω)  ∈ M is sought satisfying certain conditions, and such a solution can be found in a Gröbner basis of M. Applying techniques introduced in the first part of this paper, we give an algorithm which returns the required solution.     

Mathematical Function Software on the Web—Are Such Codes Useful for Verification Algorithms?

We give an overview on existing software implementations of special mathematical functions (erf(x), erfe(x), (x), Bessel-Functions,...) which can be found on the web. We discuss the quality of the numerical results and their usability in an interval setting. We also point out whether it is an easy or difficult task to find reliable routines with approved (relative or absolute) error bounds. We will show which additional steps have to be performed to get worst-case error bounds for such routines.

On the Consequences of the Adoption of the Zaremba–Jaumann Objective Stress Rate in FEM Codes

This paper deals with a particular issue of computational mechanics in main FEM codes nowadays available, i.e. the outcomes of implementations of large strain constitutive models based on the adoption of so-called objective stress rates, in order to satisfy objectivity requirements. The point here is that of directly inquiring whether well-known incoherencies due to the adoption of the Zaremba–Jaumann objective stress rate may manifest themselves when the most used elastic and elastoplastic constitutive models are adopted. The present investigation aims at providing a comprehensive review of the theoretical aspects and at developing an informed knowledge to final users of FEM codes, in terms of exposing which constitutive models and FEM implementations may be affected by Zaremba–Jaumann objective stress rate induced incoherencies. Towards this end, local FEM simple shear tests are explored and clearly show that kinematic cases characterized by a non zero spin may be heavily affected by oscillatory incoherencies, which arise for expected cases, i.e. Cauchy stress responses, but also for other less expected cases, i.e. strain responses, whether they are total, elastic or plastic. Beyond local tests, structural simple shear tests are also performed and show as well that oscillatory incoherencies found in local simple shear tests may heavily influence the overall structural outcomes. A non-secondary target of the paper is that of reviewing the relevant scientific and technical literature about objective stress rates, by critically analyzing correlated issues and proposed solutions, considering scientific contributions spanning over a century, keeping specific attention to the treatment of the Zaremba–Jaumann objective stress rate and to the possible flaws related to its adoption.
