In situ techniques of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and amperometric measurement were employed to investigate the adsorption Bi(III) ions and the photocatalytic deposition Bi process at the surface of nanocrystalline TiO2. It was obtained that the adsorption of Bi(III) ions onto nanocrystalline TiO2 accords with the pseudo-second-order reaction and the reaction rate constant k was about 13.3 g mol−1 min−1. In addition, the photocatalytic deposition of Bi onto the surface of TiO2 was further investigated. It was found that photocatalytic deposition rate at the surface of TiO2 was enhanced by increasing pH value or initial concentration of Bi(III) ions. The influence of organic hole-scavegeners on the photocatalytic deposition of Bi was also investigated, and it was obtained that formic acid may be the best for the photocatalytic reduction of Bi. The mass ratio between the Bi(III) and Bi metal deposition was calculated as 7.48:1. Therefore, it can be concluded that QCM, DPV and amperometric measurement may be effective and reliable for the investigation of the photocatalytic deposition of Bi onto the surface of nanocrystalline TiO2.  相似文献

Asymmetric TiO2 hybrid photocatalytic ceramic membranes with porosity gradient have been fabricated via acid-catalyzed sol–gel method. Different structure directing agents (SDAs) i.e. Pluronic P-123, Triton X-100, Tween 20 and Tween 80 were incorporated in the preparation of TiO2 sol to obtain a porous multilayered TiO2 coated on the alumina ceramic support. Six different SDA-modified membrane specimens were fabricated. Four of which were coated with the TiO2 sols prepared using only one type of SDA. The remaining two specimens were fabricated via multilayer coating of different TiO2 sols prepared using different types of SDAs. Physico-chemical and morphological properties of different TiO2 layers were thoroughly investigated. The membrane M1 which had the most porous TiO2 sub-layers showed a high pure water permeability of 155 L m−2 h−1 bar−1. The membrane showed a relatively high Rhodamine B (RhB) removal of 2997 mg m−2 over 8 h treatment duration in the batch photoreactor, second only to the Pluronic-based TiO2 membrane (specific RhB removal of 3050 mg m−2). All membrane specimens exhibited good performances while operated in the flow-through photocatalytic membrane reactor. Over 91% of RhB removal capability was retained after 4 treatment cycles. All membranes also showed self-cleaning property by retaining >90% of initial flux after 4 treatment cycles. The flexibility of optimizing membrane performances by fine-tuning the porosity gradient configuration of the photocatalytic layer has also been demonstrated.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline I-F-codoped TiO2 was prepared by a sol-gel-impregnation method, using tetrabutylorthotitanate in a mixed NH4I-NH4F aqueous solution. The as-prepared TiO2 was characterized with UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectra, X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption. The degradation of methylene blue (MB) over as-prepared TiO2 in aqueous solution under simulated sunlight irradiation was remarkably enhanced by codoping with I and F. The effects of codoping and calcination temperature on the photocatalytic activity and microstructures were investigated. The photocatalytic activity of as-prepared I-F-codoped TiO2 was remarkably higher than that of pure, I-doped, and F-doped TiO2 when the molar ratios of I and F to Ti were kept in the value of 10. The influence of I-F-modification on the photocatalytic activity was discussed by considering the higher surface area, entire anatase phase, effective dopant content, and stronger absorbance of sunlight, corresponding to the higher quantum efficiency. In addition to a complete removal of color, the as-prepared TiO2 was simultaneously able to oxidize MB and small amounts of intermediates such as formic acid and phenol were detected. After prolonged sunlight irradiation some intermediates almost vanished, and MB appeared to be eventually mineralized to NH4+, NO3 and SO42−.  相似文献

The process of removal of two azo dyes (Reactive Red 198 and Direct Green 99) from water was investigated. The adsorption of azo dyes onto surfaces of pristine TiO2, P25 and carbon-modified TiO2 (at 120 °C for 24 h) was presented. The Freundlich model of adsorption isotherm was found for pristine TiO2 and TiO2-P25. Modification of TiO2 by carbon lead to the change from the Freundlich model to the Langmuir model of adsorption isotherm. For the TiO2-C photocatalyst the adsorption capacity was determined, which was almost two times higher for Direct Green 99 than Reactive Red 198 dyes. As a result we observed the increase of photocatalytic activity of carbon-modified TiO2 photocatalyst.  相似文献

The preparation of activated carbon (AC) from sago industry waste is a promising way to produce a useful adsorbent for Hg (II) removal, as well as dispose of sago industry waste. The AC was prepared using sago industry waste with H2SO4 and (NH4)2S2O8 and physico-chemical properties of AC were investigated. Adsorptive removal of mercury (II) from aqueous solution onto AC prepared from sago industry waste has been studied under varying conditions of agitation time, metal ion concentration, adsorbent dose, particle size and pH to assess the kinetic and equilibrium parameters. Adsorption equilibrium was obtained in 105 min for 20 mg l−1 and 120 min for 30, 40, and 50 mg l−1 Hg (II) concentrations. The Langmuir and Freundlich equilibrium isotherm models were found to provide an excellent fitting of the adsorption data, with r2 0.9999 and 0.9839, respectively. The adsorption capacity of Hg (II) (Qo) obtained from the Langmuir equilibrium isotherm model was found to be 55.6 mg g−1 at pH 5.0 for the particle size range of 125-250 μm. The percent removal increased with an increase in pH from 2 to 10. This adsorbent was found to be effective and economically attractive.  相似文献

Solvothermal decomposition of titanium(IV) tert-butoxide (TTB) in toluene at 573 K in the presence of silica gel (SiO2) with continuous stirring yielded a titanium(IV) oxide (TiO2)–SiO2 composite in which agglomerates of nanocrystalline TiO2 were deposited on the surfaces of SiO2 particles. Various TiO2–SiO2 composites having different TiO2 contents can be synthesized by changing the ratio of TTB and SiO2, and the composites had large surface areas corresponding to porous properties of SiO2. These TiO2–SiO2 composites were used for photocatalytic removal of nitrogen oxides in air and their photocatalytic performances were compared with those of other TiO2–SiO2 samples prepared by different methods. Solvothermally synthesized 74 wt.%TiO2–SiO2 composite exhibited excellent photocatalytic performance (almost stoichiometric removal of NO x (98%) and very low NO2 release (0.3%)) attributable to high photocatalytic activity of TiO2 and high adsorption property of SiO2. Lesser performance of 74 wt.%TiO2–SiO2 composites prepared by other methods suggested that pore-mouth plugging of SiO2 by TiO2 and lower level of mixing of TiO2 and SiO2 decreased photocatalytic performance of the composites.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO2 films were prepared on flexible Ti-metal sheets by electrophoretic deposition followed by chemical treatment with tetra-n-butyl titanate (TBT) and sintering at 450 °C. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicates that TBT treatment led to the formation of additional anatase TiO2, which plays an important role in improving the interconnection between TiO2 particles, as well as the adherence of the film to the substrate, and in modifying the surface properties of the nanocrystalline particles. The effect of TBT treatment on the electron transport in the nanocrystalline films was studied by intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy (IMPS). An increase in the conversion efficiency was obtained for the dye-sensitized solar cells with TBT-treated nanocrystalline TiO2 films. The cell performance was further optimized by designing nanocrystalline TiO2 films with a double-layer structure composed of a light-scattering layer and a transparent layer. The light-scattering effect of the double-layer nanocrystalline films was evaluated by diffuse reflectance spectra. Employing the double-layer nanocrystalline films as the photoelectrodes resulted in a significant improvement in the incident photo-to-current conversion efficiency of the corresponding cells due to enhanced solar absorption by light scattering. A high conversion efficiency of 6.33% was measured under illumination with 100 mW cm−2 (AM 1.5) simulated sunlight.  相似文献

Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) assembled in hydrophobic domain by fatty acid with long alkyl hydrocarbon chain such as myristic acid (Myr), stearic acid (Ste) and cholic acid (Cho) modified onto nanocrystalline TiO2 electrode is prepared and the photovoltaic properties of the nanocrystalline TiO2 film by Chl-a are studied. Incident photon to current efficiency (IPCE) value at 660 nm in photocurrent action spectrum of Chl-a/Ste-TiO2, Chl-a/Myr-TiO2 and Chl-a/Cho-TiO2 electrodes are 5.0%, 4.1% and 4.1%, respectively. Thus, the IPCE is maximum using Chl-a/Ste-TiO2 electrode. From the results of photocurrent responses with light intensity of 100 mW cm−2 irradiation or monochromatic light with 660 nm, generated photocurrent increases using Chl-a/Ste-TiO2 electrode compared with the other Chl-a assembled TiO2 electrodes. These results show that the hydrophobic domain formed by stearic acid with long alkyl hydrocarbon chain is suitable for fixation of Chl-a onto TiO2 film electrodes and photovoltaic performance is improved using Chl-a onto Ste-TiO2 film electrode.  相似文献

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)/2,6-bis (N-pyrazolyl) pyridine (BNPP) polymer electrolyte based photoelectrochemical cells have been fabricated with [cis-dithiocyanato-N, N-bis (2,2′ bipyridyl-4, 4′ dicarboxylic acid)ruthenium(II)] dihydrate (N3 dye) dye complex as the sensitizer and nanoporous TiO2 film as photo anode. The introduction of 2,6-bis (N-pyrazolyl) pyridine into the poly (ethylene oxide) matrix reduces the crystallinity of the polymer and enhances the mobility of I/I3 redox couple resulting in an improved performance with a higher conversion efficiency of 8.8% in terms of light energy to electric energy when compared to that of the corresponding dye-sensitized nanocrystalline TiO2 solar cell.  相似文献

The photocatalytic decolorization of C.I. Basic Blue 3 (BB3) solution on immobilized TiO2 nanoparticles was carried out in a rectangular flat-plate photoreactor. The investigated TiO2 was Millennium PC-500 (anatase, average crystallite size 8 nm, surface area 320.76 m2 g−1) immobilized on non-woven paper. A new kinetic model was proposed on the basis of intrinsic element reactions. The proposed kinetic model fairly resembled the classic Langmuir–Hinshelwood (L–H) equation from its expression. It was found that both kobs (the reaction rate constant) and KR (the adsorption rate constant) were linearly proportional to the light intensity in a rather large intensity range.  相似文献

In this present work, isomers like 2- and 4-Mercapto pyridine were used as dopants (additives) in Poly (ethylene oxide) based polymer electrolyte and their effects in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) have been investigated. Due to the coordinating and plasticizing effects of Mercapto pyridine, enhanced ionic conductivity and reduced crystallinity of PEO polymer electrolyte accompanied by a better penetration of the same into the dye coated nanocrystalline TiO2 in order to have better performances were achieved. The 2-Mercapto pyridine doped PEO (E) shows comparatively better performance than 4-Mercapto pyridine doped one (F), is due to the fact that the π-electron donicity of 2-Mercapto pyridine is greater. These results suggests that the electron donating capacity of 2-Mercapto pyridine and 4-Mercapto pyridine would influence the interaction of nanocrystalline TiO2 electrode and I/I3 redox couple leading to radical changes in the cell performance.  相似文献

TiO2 supported on SiO2 surface is effective on the recovery of photocatalyst, morphological control, and coating on the substrate. Furthermore, it shows much higher photocatalytic activity than pure TiO2. The silica support is quite influential on the surface properties of TiO2 supported on SiO2. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of TiO2–SiO2 could be explained by the effects of surface area, adsorption, band-gap energy and local structure. However, it is difficult to say which one is the most important factor responsible for the photocatalytic property of TiO2–SiO2. For example, the reduction of particle size could effect on both of the surface area and band-gap energy. And, Ti–O–Si bonds could modify the band-gap energy and local structure. Therefore, the photocatalytic properties of TiO2–SiO2 should be expressed by sum of many factors such as surface area, adsorption, band-gap energy and local structure.  相似文献

Photo-degradable poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)/titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanohybrid has been investigated to be utilized as an eco-friendly alternative strategy to the current waste landfill and toxic byproduct-emitting incineration of PVC wastes. Thus, the present study suggests a novel idea related to preparing the photocatalytically degradable nanohybrid through TiO2 nanoparticle-integrated hyperbranched poly(ε-caprolactone) (HPCL-TiO2). The main aim of this study is to find a solution to the unresolved problem in the conventional PVC/TiO2 composites related to the poor dispersion of the nanoparticles in PVC polymer. First, TiO2 nanoparticles are prepared by a sol-gel process, and the size of the particle is about 5-10 nm in diameter as measured by using a transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The hyperbranched poly(ε-caprolactone) (HPCL) with numerous COOH groups and good miscibility with PVC as a binder for TiO2 nanoparticles is prepared from moisture-sensitive catalyst-free polymerization of 2,2-bis[ω-hydroxy oligo(ε-caprolactone)methyl]propionic acids followed by modification reaction using pyridinium dichloromate (PDC), then characterized with 1H NMR and 13C NMR analyses. The integration of TiO2 nanoparticles onto HPCL is carried out by a dip-coating method based on the spontaneous self-assembly between TiO2 nanoparticles and HPCL, and the loading amount of the nanoparticles in the HPCL-TiO2 is determined to be ca. 3.3 wt% by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Then, the HPCL-TiO2 is blended with PVC by solution blending in THF as solvent, and the resulting dispersibility of TiO2 nanoparticle in PVC is characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) equipped with energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), which exhibits the TiO2 nanoparticles are well-dispersed in PVC matrix, while some agglomerates are observed in the PVC/TiO2 sample prepared from TiO2 nanoparticle itself. The photocatalytic degradation of the samples are examined and verified from the change of surface morphology, chemical structure, molecular weight, and molecular-level structure after UV irradiation through field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS). The remarkable photocatalytic degradation is observed in the PVC/HPCL-TiO2, and the structural change accompanied by the degradation of the irradiated sample can clearly explained.  相似文献

The properties of newly synthesized Cu2O/CuO-decorated TiO2/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposites (NC) were analyzed aiming to obtain insight into their photocatalytic behavior and their various applications, including water remediation, self-cleaning surfaces, antibacterial materials, and electrochemical sensors. The physico-chemical methods of research were photoluminescence (PL), electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry (CV), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The solid samples evidenced an EPR signal that can be attributed to the oxygen-vacancy defects and copper ions in correlation with PL results. Free radicals generated before and after UV-Vis irradiation of powders and aqueous dispersions of Cu2O/CuO-decorated TiO2/GO nanocomposites were studied by EPR spectroscopy using two spin traps, DMPO (5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide) and CPH (1-hydroxy-3-carboxy-2,2,5,5-tetramethylpyrrolidine), to highlight the formation of hydroxyl and superoxide reactive oxygen species, respectively. The electrochemical characterization of the NC modified carbon-paste electrodes (CPE) was carried out by CV and DPV. As such, modified carbon-paste electrodes were prepared by mixing carbon paste with copper oxides-decorated TiO2/GO nanocomposites. We have shown that GO reduces the recombination process in TiO2 by immediate electron transfer from excited TiO2 to GO sheets. The results suggest that differences in the PL, respectively, EPR data and electrochemical behavior, are due to the different copper oxides and GO content, presenting new perspectives of materials functionalization.  相似文献

The effects of annealing temperature on the photocatalytic activity of nitrogen-doped (N-doped) titanium oxide (TiO2) thin films deposited on soda-lime-silica slide glass by radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering have been studied. Glancing incident X-ray diffraction (GIAXRD), Raman spectrum, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and UV-vis spectra were utilized to characterize the N-doped TiO2 thin films with and without annealing treatment. GIAXRD and Raman results show as-deposited N-doped TiO2 thin films to be nearly amorphous and that the rutile and anatase phases coexisted when the N-doped TiO2 thin films were annealed at 623 and 823 K for 1 h, respectively. SEM microstructure shows uniformly close packed and nearly round particles with a size of about 10 nm which are on the slide glass surface for TiO2 thin films annealed at 623 K for 1 h. AFM image shows the lowest surface roughness for the N-doped TiO2 thin films annealed at 623 K for 1 h. The N-doped TiO2 thin films annealed at 623 K for 1 h exhibit the best photocatalytic activity, with a rate constant (ka) of about 0.0034 h−1.  相似文献

Results of the heterogeneous photocatalytic reduction of Fe(VI) in UV-irradiated TiO2 suspensions in the presence of ammonia are presented. The initial rate of Fe(VI) reduction, R, may be expressed as R = k Fe(VI)[Fe(VI)]1.25 where k Fe(VI) = a[Ammonia]+b), a = 6.0 × 103 μm 0.25 s and b = 4.1 × 106 μm −1.25s−1. The rate constant, k Fe(VI), increases with the ammonia concentration. The photocatalytic oxidation of ammonia is enhanced in the presence of Fe(VI). A mechanism involving Fe(V) as a reactive intermediate is presented which explains the faster photocatalytic oxidation of ammonia in the presence of Fe(VI).  相似文献

Hybrid photocatalysts based on an adsorbent SiMgOx and a photocatalyst TiO2 were developed in a plate shape. The ceramic surface was coated with TiO2 by the slip-casting technique. The effect of the support in the photocatalytic degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) was analyzed by modifying TiO2 loading and the layer thickness. Photocatalysts were characterised by N2 adsorption–desorption, mercury intrusion porosimetry, SEM, UV–vis spectroscopy and XRD. A direct relationship between the TiO2 content and the photocatalytic activity was observed up to three layers of TiO2 (0.66 wt.%). Our results indicate that intermediate species generated on the TiO2 layer can migrate through relatively long distances to react with the OH surface groups of the support. By increasing the TiO2 loading of the photocatalyst two effects were observed: trichloroethylene conversion is enhanced, while the efficiency of the oxidation process is decreased at expenses of increasing the selectivity to COCl2 and dichloroacetylchloride (DCAC). The results are discussed in terms of the layer thickness, TiO2 amount, TCE conversion and CO2, and COCl2 selectivity.  相似文献

Pure and doped (zinc and iron) nanocrystalline titania powders were prepared by the sol-gel route. Doping tends to change the existing crystalline phases and their degree of crystallinity, but particle size distribution and morphology of the particles are also affected. In the pure titania system, the main crystalline phase is anatase but rutile is also present. The doped (Zn and Fe) titania crystallizes only as anatase. The undoped titania shows a bimodal distribution of particles size: fine (20-40 nm) and coarse (300-500 nm) grains. The doped TiO2 powder also exhibits a much more uniform particle size distribution, with all grains under 40 nm.The photocatalytic efficiency of suspended powders was tested on the decolouration of Orange II aqueous solutions under visible artificial light irradiation. The maximum decolouration reached by the pure TiO2 was 81% at a rate of 3.6 × 10−3 min−1. Iron doping decreases the photocatalytic activity; the maximum dye degradation was only 43% at a rate of 1.3 × 10−3 min−1. On the contrary, the performance of Zn-doped titania was better, having a decolouration rate of 17.7 × 10−3 min−1.  相似文献

Functionalized polypyrrole film were prepared by incorporation of [Fe(CN)6]4− as a doping anion, during the electropolymerization of pyrrole onto a carbon paste electrode in an aqueous solution by potentiostatic method. The electrochemical behavior of dopamine (DA) and ascorbic acid (AA) in one solution was studied at the surface of bare and modified carbon paste electrodes using cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and differntial pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods. The well separated anodic peaks for oxidation of DA and AA were observed at the surface of the modified carbon paste electrode under optimum condition (pH 6.00), which can be used for determination of these species simultaneously in mixture by LSV and DPV methods. The linear analytical curves were obtained in the ranges of 0.10-1.00 mM and 0.10-0.95 mM for ascorbic acid and 0.10-1.20 mM and 0.20-0.95 mM for dopamine concentrations using LSV and DPV methods, respectively. The detection limits (2σ) were determined as 3.38 × 10−5 M and 1.34 × 10−5 M of ascorbic acid and 3.86 × 10−5 M and 1.51 × 10−5 M of dopamine by CV and DPV methods.  相似文献

A simple and straightforward approach to prepare TiO2-coated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is presented. Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with the average size ~8 nm were coated on CNTs from peroxo titanic acid (PTA) precursor even at low temperature of 100 °C. We demonstrate the effects of CNTs/TiO2 molar ratio on the adsorption capability and photocatalytic efficiency under UV–visible irradiation. The samples showed not only good optical absorption in visible range, but also great adsorption capacity for methyl orange (MO) dye molecules. These properties facilitated the great enhancement of photocatalytic activity of TiO2 NPs-coated CNTs photocatalysts. The TiO2 NPs-coated CNTs exhibited 2.45 times higher photocatalytic activity for MO degradation than that of pure TiO2.  相似文献
