ABSTRACT

A proposed operation of a semicontinuous fluidized-bed ion-exchange system was studied. The system splits a liquid current into two currents, one being more concentrated and the other more depleted. This operating technique has been used to split up a mixture of alkaline ions (Na+, K+) using a strongly acidic resin. The equipment operates simultaneously in two multistage columns, one for loading and the other for elution of the resin. The experimetal testing system employs a hydrometallurgy wastewater containing cobalt and copper as heavy metallic ions, and the resin used was of the chelating iminodiacetic type, Lewatit TP-207. At cyclic steady state, the equipment can split up the wastewater, producing an effluent concentrated in cobalt in the outlet stream of the loading column, and a concentrated stream of copper in the effluent of the elution column. The hydrodynamics and approach to the stationary state of the system were analyzed, and the selective recovery of metals was subsequently tested experimentally. This behavior presents certain similarities with a parametric pumping operation of the system, with the two columns operating at different pH values or temperatures.  相似文献

Wheat starch-water and corn starch-water suspensions (10%; w/w) were exposed to ozone gas by using two different contact systems; semicontinuous and batch systems. In semicontinuous contact mode, fresh ozone was applied to starch suspensions at a concentration of 4.2 mg dissolved ozone L?1 water for 30 min, while in closed batch contact mode, starch suspensions were stirred with ozone gas at a rate of 60 g/h for 30 min. Gelatinization temperatures and enthalpies of wheat and corn starch were increased in a semicontinuous system. However, no change was observed for the gelatinization characteristics of starch samples ozonated- in batch system. Structures and birefringences of wheat and corn starch ozonated in both semicontinuous and batch operations were not differentiated clearly. Higher lightness and whiteness values were observed for both wheat and corn starch ozonated in semicontinuous system than the controls and ozonated samples in batch system. Corn starch ozonated in semicontinuous system has lower chroma and yellowness values than the others. Total color difference for the samples ozonated in semicontinuous system is significantly different from the samples ozonated in batch system. Semicontinuous ozonation system is more effective on the thermal and color properties of wheat and corn starches than the batch ozonation system.  相似文献

Conclusions The use of large-capacity dump trucks in quarries provided with roadways constructed of low-density yielding overburden rock is advantageous from the economic and operation standpoints.Large-capacity dump trucks are more suitable than other forms of haulage during the development work on new quarries. This was demonstrated during the work on the new Belyi Kolodets quarry.Quarry roadways built from yielding rock strictly in conformity with the design specifications and maintained in a normal state are fully suitable for haulage operations with large-capacity dump trucks.To maximize the efficiency of the dump trucks used in quarries the establishment concerned must have at its disposal a truck maintenance station equipped with all necessary modern facilities and capable of handling the required amount of work.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 1, pp. 34–36, January, 1976.  相似文献

Emulsion polymerization of vinyl acetate was carried out batchwisely or semicontinuously in the presence of a nonionic surfactant or poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). From the investigation of degrees of polymerization of poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) during the course of polymerization and those of corresponding hydrolyzed PVA, it was clarified that the degrees of polymerization of the batchwise system are much larger than those of the semicontinuous system, and long branches and shorter branches are formed in the batchwise and the semicontinuous systems, respectively. The emulsion films obtained batchwisely had properties with better tensile strengths by two to four times (nonionic system) and 1.5 times (PVA system) than those obtained semicontinuously. The technique of continuous refining of oils and fats has steadily improved since the first commercial installation some 30 years ago. Refining is the most important economic factor in the overall processing of an oil from the crude to the finished product. Crude oil handling, reagent selection, mixing, heating, and centrifugal separation are all critical when an attempt is made to obtain the maximum refining efficiency. The agronomist, scientist, control laboratory and operating personnel, along with the equipment manufacturers, have all aided in obtaining more efficient and economical processing methods. In a discussion of the over-all refining process, soapstock handling must also be considered. In recent years several successful continuous soapstock acidulation plants have been installed. With this addition to a refinery, the refining operation can now truly be considered as a continuous process. Like most industrial processes, this has been an evolution from the batch system to a semicontinuous system up to the present continuous treatment of soapstock and wash water to produce a high-purity acid oil on an economical basis. Details of the various factors in refining and aeidulation on a commercial basis, along with control methods, are discussed. A novel mode of operation for electrofiltration is presented. The newly developed operation procedure allows for cake removal without disassembling the chamber. Highly viscous filter cakes are discharged from the filtration chamber by inserting air which permits a rapid restart of the process. The cleaning time could be reduced from about 10 min to a few seconds. The semicontinuous operation is liable to full automation and allows for cake discharge and filtration in a short period of time. In successive cycles was proved that the process efficiency is maintained using the same membrane. A fully continuous system can be accomplished by assembling several units in parallel in a single filtration press.  相似文献
