The virtual design of machining centers is a modern and well-known computer aided technique. Several modeling and simulation architectures, based on the lumped mass approach and on finite element method, are now well established and widely exploited worldwide. These solutions rapidly allow the basic setup of the kinematics of the feed drives and make possible a dynamic optimized dimensioning of all the main subsystems and structures of the machining center. This paper deals with research efforts aimed at developing an innovative and open design platform which allows the integration, in a user friendly framework, of the main procedures cited above with other design tools and facilities. An operator interface procedure and a package of input–output graphic routines, managed through a multilevel data base, are now active in this framework and interact with lumped mass and finite elements modules. According to these considerations the proposed tool allows to quickly and easily analyze alternative design solutions and makes possible to optimize the dynamic performances of the machine tool, helping the designer in the definition of the optimum machine tool characteristics before the manufacturing of the physical prototype. In order to demonstrate the potential of the proposed platform an example concerning the mass optimization of the Y axis of a gantry machining center is presented.  相似文献

What would be worse, losing your sight or your sense of touch? Although touch (more generally, somesthesis) is commonly underrated, major somesthetic loss can't be adequately compensated for by sight. It results in catastrophic impairments of hand dexterity, haptic capabilities, walking, perception of limb position, and so on. Providing users with inadequate somesthetic feedback in virtual environments might impair their performance, just as major somesthetic loss does.  相似文献

Research on facial animation is as vast as the many interests and needs that can be found in the general public, television or film production. For Mac Guff Ligne, a company specialized in the fabrication of special effects and computer generated images, the needs and the constraints on such a topic are very big. Morphing is often used in facial animation, and consists in mixing several expression models. As we will discover, the advantages in using morphing are numerous, but the animation workload remains long and time-consuming. Our goal is to propose a fast and reliable animation tool that is based on the same morphing technique with which the graphic artists are familiar. Our method is to inverse the classical process of morphing, and to match a real facial animation to a 3D facial animation by automatic calculation of the weights of expression models. Firstly, we discretize the real facial animation using a number of characteristic points. Then we follow the path of each point by optic or magnetic motion capture, or through the filmed images. This tracked down animation is then decomposed, for each frame, according to a basis of characteristic expressions (joy, anger, etc.) that can be automatically taken out from the real animation during the calibration stage. It means that we express a simplified shape of the face by linear composition of a series of basic faces. Finally, we can reintroduce the results of this decomposition into a more complex facial morph which has a totally different topology and geometry. The user can thus complete and modify the resulting animation using a tool he knows well. This method, used in production at Mac Guff Ligne, proves to be a solid, effective and easy-to-use work base for facial animation.  相似文献

This paper aims at the delivery of adaptive and personalized multimedia content in interactive Internet Protocol TeleVision (IPTV) environments, using programmable IP services through the MPEG-21 standard, also supporting the features for users with disabilities. Moreover, we propose a system that adapts to users’ preferences using profile separation, not only for individual users but also for user groups as a whole. The system takes advantage of explicit and implicit information through the users’ interaction with the IPTV environment, while the profile reflects groups of similar users, thus dropping the time needed for matching user patterns and profiles when forming a recommendation. The system works in conjunction with a simulation platform acting as an interaction interface between the IPTV architecture and the prospective viewer. Based on this, interactivity in IPTV is faced through metadata and adaptation.  相似文献

Is the number of films containing crime increasing? If so, for which kinds of films? Using a sample of synopses for all films released in Britain between 1945 and 1991, we identified shifts in the major film genres and their proportion of crime contents. The overall proportion of crime films and the proportion of crime content in all film genres has remained constant. This masks underlying differences, however. Content analysis revealed which genres, including those with both high and low crime content, are rising or falling in popularity. It also revealed that for some genres, the proportion of films containing crime is rising. No differences were found between British and U.S. films in terms of proportion of crime content by genre. This historical content analysis provides an overview of trends in the inclusion of crime in film. These trends offer a broader context for the interpretation of more detailed analyses of single films. We discuss implications for the audience's expectations of films.  相似文献

This paper reports on the effects of film thickness and doping content on the optical and electrical properties of fluorine-doped tin oxide. Tin (II) chloride dehydrate, ammonium fluoride dehydrate, ethanol and HCl were used as the starting materials, dopant source, solvent and stabilizer, respectively. The doped films were deposited on a glass substrate at different concentrations varying between 0 and 5 wt% using an ultrasonic spray technique. The SnO2:F thin films were deposited at a 350 ℃ pending time (5, 15, 60 and 90 s). The average transmission was about 80%, and the films were thus transparent in the visible region. The optical energy gap of the doped films with 2.5 wt% F was found to increase from 3.47 to 3.89 eV with increasing film thickness, and increased after doping at 5 wt%. The decrease in the Urbach energy of the SnO2:F thin films indicated a decrease in the defects. The increase in the electrical conductivity of the films reached maximum values of 278.9 and 281.9 (Ω·cm-1) for 2.5 and 5 wt% F, respectively, indicating that the films exhibited an n-type semiconducting nature. A systematic study on the influence of film thickness and doping content on the properties of SnO2:F thin films deposited by ultrasonic spray was reported.  相似文献

As virtual reality becomes more and more mainstream, the role of affordances in virtual environments becomes an important question. The goal of this study is to explicate users’ motivational affordances and examine how they influence the acceptance of a virtual reality learning environment (VLE). It examines how motivational affordances in an educational virtual reality (VR) system affect user experience to track and achieve goals for users. A multimixed approach was used by combining qualitative methods and a quantitative survey. First, a critical incident technique was used to explore a range of affordance factors related to VLE. Second, based on the affordance factors identified from the qualitative methods, a survey was conducted to examine the effects of affordance on user cognitive processes and the influence of affordance on the learning process. The results of the user model confirmed the heuristic role of presence and immersion affordance regarding their underlying link to educational affordances, such as empathy and embodied cognition. The findings imply the embodied cognition process of VLE in which technological qualities are shaped by users’ perception and context. The results establish a foundation for VR technologies through a heuristic assessment tool from a user-embodied cognitive process. They confirm the validity and utility of applying affordances to the design of VR as a useful concept and prove that the optimum mix of affordances is crucial to the success of VR design.  相似文献

Construction and engineering projects are typically complex in nature and are prone to cost and schedule overruns. A significant factor that often contributes to these overruns is rework. Omissions errors, in particular, have been found to account for as much as 38% of the total rework costs experienced. To date, there has been limited research that has sought to determine the underlying factors that contribute to omission errors in construction and engineering projects. Using data derived from 59 in-depth interviews undertaken with various project participants, a generic systemic causal model of the key factors that contributed to omission errors is presented. The developed causal model can improve understanding of the archetypal nature and underlying dynamics of omission errors. Error management strategies that can be considered for implementation in projects are also discussed.  相似文献

The origin of magnetoconductance (MC) in organic light-emitting diodes under bipolar injection conditions was investigated using devices containing pristine Super-Yellow poly(phenylene vinylene) (SY-PPV) or SY-PPV:phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) (x wt%) blends as the active layers. In pristine SY-PPV device, it was found that the low-field component of MC was always larger than the high-field component. Additionally, the low-field component increased and then saturated with increasing the electrical stressing time, whereas the high-field component remained unchanged. These behaviors were analyzed using empirical formula (containing a Lorentzian and a non-Lorentzian function), which suggested that the dominant mechanism in the MC response was hyperfine mixing between single and triplet polaron pairs that occurred on trap sites. The specific role of these traps, providing interaction sites for hyperfine mixing, was confirmed by controlling the lifetime of the trapped polaron-pairs states by doping the active layer with PCBM.  相似文献
