The feasibility of coupling silicon micromachines rectangular waveguide to a modified diagonal horn antenna using a model at 110 GHz is demonstrated. An approximate formula has been recently proposed for the on-axis gain of rectangular waveguide antennas, that include open-ended rectangular waveguides and sectoral and pyramidal horns (see Selvan, K.T., IEEE Trans. Antennas Propagat., vol.47, p.1001-4, 1999). This formula is an approximate generalization of S.A. Schelkunoff's horn-gain formulas (see "Electromagnetic Waves", Van Nostrand, p.360-4, 1943). Gain measurements are reported for the gains of E plane and H plane sectoral horns and are used in an examination of the accuracy of Selvan's formulas. To the best of the authors' knowledge, these are the first ever measurement efforts on the gain of H-plane sectoral horns 相似文献

The dielectric waveguide structure finds various applications in integrated circuits for the millimeter-optical-frequency range. Many passive and active devices, using dielectric waveguide, have been developed. From the viewpoint of Iow-loss property, the dielectric rectangular waveguide seems to be more suitable for integrated circuits. This paper describes the design method and experimental results for channel dropping filter using dielectric rectangular waveguide. Some experimental investigations of the dielectric rectangular waveguide properties are also presented. The channel dropping loss of the filter is 1.5 dB at a channel center frequency of 52 GHz with a 180-MHz 3-dB bandwidth. Experimental results agree fairly well with the theoretical calculations. 相似文献

The termination is of simple design and can easily be adjusted to have reflection coefficients from zero to nearly unity in magnitude and any desired phase. A hybrid technique is proposed to solve the entire problem of corrugated and noncorrugated rectangular horns without the usual approximations. The horn antenna is simulated by a multistepped waveguide structure radiating into half-space. The procedure is composed of three steps. First, assuming the horn to be terminated by infinite metallic flange, the aperture problem is accurately solved by a hybrid modal-spectral method (HMSM). Second, the modal analysis (MA) method and scattering matrix concept of waveguide discontinuities are employed to solve the transverse multidiscontinuity problems. Finally, the two methods are combined (MA-HMSM) to solve the entire problem of the horn antenna. The proposed technique allows to obtain not only the radiation patterns, but also the reflection and near-field characteristics of the horn, without any restriction on the geometry (semiflare angles, profiled horn contours, corrugations). A good agreement between theoretical predictions and experimental results has been obtained for several horns. 相似文献

Field theoretical CAD of open or aperture matched T-junctioncoupled rectangular waveguide structures
The rigorous computer-aided design of rectangular waveguide structures coupled by open or rectangular iris loaded E - or H -plane T-junctions is described. The design theory is based on the full wave mode-matching method for the key-building-block T-junction element associated with the generalized S-matrix technique for composite structures. The waveguide structures may be arbitrarily composed of the T-junction and already known key-building-block elements (such as the double step and the septum discontinuity) combined with homogeneous waveguide sections between them. The E - or H -plane T -junction effect, large apertures, finite iris or septum thicknesses, and higher-order mode interactions at all step discontinuities are rigorously taken into account. Typical design examples, like rectangular iris coupled T-junctions, narrow-stopband waveguide filters, high return loss E -plane T-junction diplexers, an elliptic function E -plane integrated metal insert filter and a simple ortho-mode transducer demonstrate the efficiency of the method. A method for realization of dual-mode coupling in rectangular waveguide cavities is described and analyzed. The method completely replaces the coupling screw, and therefore can be used to eliminate the need for tuning in dual-mode waveguide cavity filters. It also offers a wide range of coupling values and can achieve higher power-handling capability than coupling screws. Mode matching is used to calculate the mode chart of the infinitely long square corner cut rectangular waveguide (SCCRW), the field distributions of each mode, and the resonant frequencies of the cavity. An evanescent mode rectangular waveguide is used to provide dual-mode couplings between adjacent cavities. The junction discontinuity between the SCCRW and the rectangular waveguide is modeled by a double mode-matching method, yielding modal scattering parameters of the junction. A four-pole dual-mode elliptic-function rectangular waveguide cavity filter using the coupling method was constructed. The experimental filter results showed excellent agreement with theory 相似文献

The design of a series of broad-band Tchebycheff-type stepped waveguide transformers from various sizes of standard rectangular waveguides to a double ridged waveguide covering the frequency range of 4750 to 11,000 mc is described. Four separate transformers employing RG-67/U (WR-90), RG-68/U (WR-112), RG-106/U (WR-137), and WR-159 to Airtron ARA-133 double-ridged waveguide have been designed using this technique and cast in aluminum. The complete frequency range is covered by several pairs depending on which sizes of mating rectangular waveguides are desired. The RG-106/U design covers a frequency range of 53 per cent with a maximum VSWR of 1.08, while the other three designs each cover a slightly smaller frequency band with a VSWR not exceeding 1.05. Along with the experimental results obtained, an outline of the design method is given which can be used to design similar transformers between any compatible rectangular and double ridged waveguides. 相似文献

An accurate computation of the admittance characteristics of longitudinal shunt slots in a rectangular waveguide is presented. A moment method with entire basis functions is used for solving the electric field in the slot. The waveguide wall thickness is accounted for by introducing higher order waveguide modes in the short waveguide connecting the inner and outer regions. Particular attention is given to the resonant length of the slot, which is a critical parameter in the design of waveguide slot array antennas. Computed resonant lengths compare very well with measured results. 相似文献

A solution is given for propagation in rectangular waveguide fully loaded with a uniaxial dielectric, with the C-axis lying anywhere in the transverse plane. This problem arises in the design of particular traveling-wave masers. By application of the Rayleigh-Ritz method to Berk's variational expression, the problem is reduced to a matrix eigenvalue problem, and in a form suitable for direct evaluation on a digital computer. An explicit approximate solution is, however, shown to give accurate results. The analysis can be interpreted directly in terms of mode coupling of the usual rectangular waveguide modes, and the possible extension is indicated to general tensor media and to circular or elliptical waveguide. 相似文献

This paper extends some results for waveguide irises to obtain accurate design formulas for the design of circular waveguide irises in coupled-resonator rectangular waveguide filters. Experimental results confirm the improved accuracy of the new design formulas. The new approach has been successfully applied to the design of a 12-GHz waveguide filter in WR90 waveguide for satellite transponder studies. Improved accuracy in the iris design enabled the filter to meet stringent group delay specifications. 相似文献

This paper presents a procedure to reduce the computational effort for the full-wave analysis of corrugated or stepped rectangular horns/cavities, open-ended on an infinite ground plane. This procedure, framed in the method of moments (MoM), is based on the construction of appropriate basis functions generated by solving the problem of one element in isolation. These functions are termed "synthetic aperture functions" (SAF); being numerical solutions of a physical problem, they have the adequate contents of high-order waveguide modes which allow the proper storage of local reactive energy. They also include a good approximation of the correct edge behavior. The technique reveals a significant reduction of computational resources compared to an ordinary MoM solution, especially for a large number of radiating elements 相似文献

针对传统脊波导滤波器设计中没有考虑耦合结构频率特性导致设计精度不高的问题,文中提出了一种基于消失模耦合的脊波导滤波器设计方法。该方法将工作于消失模状态下的矩形波导结构等效为频变阻抗变换器模型,通过等效电路变换将耦合结构的频变特性影响转换为对传输线谐振腔电抗斜率参数的影响,采用逐级仿真策略确定滤波器结构尺寸,避免了耗时的全波仿真优化。最后,通过一个4阶切比雪夫特性的脊波导滤波器设计实例进行验证。全波仿真结果显示了与理论设计相同的通带内等波纹特性,验证了所提方法的有效性。 相似文献
