Antibiotic resistance and antibacterial activity in heterotrophic bacteria of mineral water origin 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Antibiotic resistance and antibacterial activity were determined on heterotrophic bacteria isolated from mineral waters. Of the 120 isolates Pseudomonas spp. (55.8%) was the predominant group followed by Acinetobacter spp. (14.17%), Flavobacterium spp. (10.83%), Achromobacter spp. (10%), Burkholderia cepacia (3.3%), Agrobacterium/radiobacter (2.5%), Moraxella spp. (1.7%), Aeromonas hydrophila (1.7%). Over 80% of the isolates were resistant to one or more antibiotics and the highest resistance was found for chloramphenicol, ampicillin, colistin and sulfamethizole (60%, 55%, 50% and 47.5%, respectively). Strains with multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) represented 55% of isolates and the most resistant organism belonged to the genus Pseudomonas. Of 40 randomly selected strains, 27 (67.5%) had antibacterial activity towards one or more indicators. This activity, found in a high percentage in the genus Pseudomonas (92%), emerged mainly against closely related microorganisms. Several producers were active also against Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus. Forty-six percent of the isolates harboured 1 to 5 plasmids with molecular weights ranging from 2.1 to 41.5 MDa. 相似文献

Antibacterial agents and heavy metal resistance in Gram-negative bacteria isolated from seawater, shrimp and sediment in Iskenderun Bay, Turkey 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The aim of the present study was to determine the level of antibiotic resistance patterns and distribution of heavy metal resistance of bacterial isolates from seawater, sediment and shrimps, and to determine if there is a relationship between antibiotic and heavy metal resistance. We undertook studies in 2007 in the industrially polluted Iskenderun Bay, on the south coast of Turkey. The resistance of 236 Gram-negative bacterial isolates (49 from seawater, 90 from sediment and 97 from shrimp) to 16 different antibiotics, and to 5 heavy metals, was investigated by agar diffusion and agar dilution methods, respectively. A total of 31 species of bacteria were isolated: the most common strains isolated from all samples were Escherichia coli (11.4%), Aeromonas hydrophila (9.7%) and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia (9.3%). There was a high incidence of resistance to ampicillin (93.2%), streptomycin (90.2%) and cefazolin (81.3%), and a low incidence of resistance to imipenem (16.5%), meropenem (13.9%) and cefepime (8.0%). Some 56.8% of all bacteria isolated from seawater, sediment and shrimp were resistant to 7 or more antibiotics. Most isolates showed tolerance to different concentrations of heavy metals, and minimal inhibition concentrations ranged from 12.5 μg/ml to > 3200 μg/ml. The bacteria from seawater, sediment and shrimp showed high resistance to cadmium of 69.4%, 88.9%, and 81.1% respectively, and low resistance to manganese of 2%, 6.7% and 11.3% respectively. The seawater and sediment isolates which were metal resistant also showed a high resistance to three antibiotics: streptomycin, ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole. In contrast, the shrimp isolates which were metal resistant were resistant to four antibiotics: cefazolin, nitrofurantoin, cefuroxime and ampicillin. Our results show that Iskenderun Bay has a significant proportion of antibiotic and heavy metal resistant Gram-negative bacteria, and these bacteria constitute a potential risk for public health. 相似文献

This study reports the antibiotic resistance patterns of coagulase negative staphylococci (CNS) isolated from a drinking water treatment plant (WTP), a drinking water distribution network, responsible for supplying water to the consumers (WDN), and a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), responsible for receiving and treating domestic residual effluents. Genotyping and the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis demonstrated a higher diversity of species both in the WTP (6 species/19 isolates) and WWTP (12 species/47 isolates) than in the WDN (6 species/172 isolates). Staphylococcus pasteuri and Staphylococcus epidermidis prevailed in the WTP and WDN and Staphylococcus saprophyticus in the WWTP. Staphylococci with reduced susceptibility (resistance or intermediary phenotype) to beta-lactams, tetracycline, clindamycin and erythromycin were observed in all types of water and belonged to the three major species groups. The highest resistance rate was found against erythromycin, presumably due to the presence of the efflux pump encoded by the determinant msrA, detected in the majority of the resistant isolates. This study demonstrates that antibiotic resistant CNS may colonize different types of water, namely drinking water fulfilling all the quality standards. 相似文献

Post-war changes in farming systems and especially the move from mixed arable-livestock farming towards greater specialisation, together with the general intensification of food production have had adverse affects on the environment. Livestock systems have largely become separated into pasture-based (cattle and sheep) and indoor systems (pigs and poultry). This paper reviews water quality issues in livestock farming areas of the UK. The increased losses of nutrients, farm effluents (particularly livestock wastes), pesticides such as sheep-dipping chemicals, bacterial and protozoan contamination of soil and water are some of the main concerns regarding water quality degradation. There has been a general uncoupling of nutrient cycles, and problems relating to nutrient loss are either short-term direct losses or long-term, related to accumulated nutrient surpluses. Results from several field studies indicate that a rational use of manure and mineral fertilisers can help reduce the pollution problems arising from livestock farming practices. Several best management practices are suggested for the control of nutrient loss and minimising release of pathogen and sheep-dip chemicals into agricultural runoff. 相似文献

Increasing concentration of heavy metals and antibiotics within bacterial microenvironments contribute to medical problems. This research confirmed the presence of enteropathogenic bacteria in the sediment and water of Kahwa River. Vibrio cholerae, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi showed resistance to antibiotics and tolerance to heavy metals. The bacteria, particularly Vibrio, were extensively resistant to Ampicillin; less so to Chloramphenicol, Co-trimoxazole and Tetracycline with a relatively reduced resistance shown to Ciprofloxacin. Higher levels of antibiotic resistance were noticed in bacteria isolated from river sediment when compared to bacteria isolated from river water (p < 0.05). Tolerance to cadmium and lead was also more obvious in bacteria isolated from river sediment. An increasing association was observed between multiple antibiotic resistance and tolerance to heavy metals. Bacterial growth in the presence of cadmium was restricted when compared to lead. 相似文献

The aim of the study is the evaluation of resistance patterns of E. coli in wastewater treatment plants without an evaluation of basic antibiotic resistance mechanisms.Investigations have been done in sewage, sludge and receiving waters from three different sewage treatment plants in southern Austria. A total of 767 E. coli isolates were tested regarding their resistance to 24 different antibiotics. The highest resistance rates were found in E. coli strains of a sewage treatment plant which treats not only municipal sewage but also sewage from a hospital.Among the antimicrobial agents tested, the highest resistance rates in the penicillin group were found for Ampicillin (AM) (up to 18%) and Piperacillin (PIP) (up to 12%); in the cephalosporin group for Cefalothin (CF) (up to 35%) and Cefuroxime-Axetil (CXMAX) (up to 11%); in the group of quinolones for Nalidixic acid (NA) (up to 15%); and for Trimethoprime/Sulfamethoxazole (SXT) (up to 13%) and for Tetracycline (TE) (57%).Median values for E. coli in the inflow (crude sewage) of the plants were between 2.0 x 10(4) and 6.1 x 10(4)CFU/ml (Coli ID-agar, BioMerieux 42017) but showed a 200-fold reduction in all three plants in the effluent. Nevertheless, more than 10(2)CFU E. coli/ml reached the receiving water and thus sewage treatment processes contribute to the dissemination of resistant bacteria in the environment. 相似文献

The ubiquitous application and release of antibiotics to the environment can result in bacterial antibiotic resistance, which in turn can be a serious risk to humans and other animals. Southeast Asian countries commonly apply an integrated recycling farm system called VAC (Vegetable, Aquaculture and Caged animal). In the VAC environment, antibiotics are released from animal and human origins, which would cause antibiotic-resistant bacteria (ARB). This study evaluated occurrence of ARB in the VAC environment in northern Vietnam, with quantitative analysis of antibiotic pollution. We found that sulfonamides were commonly detected at all sites. In dry season, while sulfamethazine was a major contaminant in pig farm pond (475-6662 ng/l) and less common in city canal and aquaculture sites, sulfamethoxazole was a major one in city canal (612-4330 ng/l). Erythromycin (154-2246 ng/l) and clarithromycin (2.8-778 ng/ml) were the common macrolides in city canal, but very low concentrations in pig farm pond and aquaculture sites. High frequencies of sulfamethoxazole-resistant bacteria (2.14-94.44%) were found whereas the occurrence rates of erythromycin-resistant bacteria were lower (< 0.01-38.8%). A positive correlation was found between sulfamethoxazole concentration and occurrence of sulfamethoxazole-resistant bacteria in dry season. The sulfamethoxazole-resistant isolates were found to belong to 25 genera. Acinetobacter and Aeromonas were the major genera. Twenty three of 25 genera contained sul genes. This study showed specific contamination patterns in city and VAC environments and concluded that ARB occurred not only within contaminated sites but also those less contaminated. Various species can obtain resistance in VAC environment, which would be reservoir of drug resistance genes. Occurrence of ARB is suggested to relate with rainfall condition and horizontal gene transfer in diverse microbial community. 相似文献

Sewage-contaminated rivers are ecosystems deeply disturbed by human activity due to the release of heavy metals, organic pollutants and pharmaceuticals as well as faecal and pathogenic micro-organisms, which coexist with the autochthonous microbial population. In this study, we compared the percentage of resistance in faecal and heterotrophic bacteria in rivers with different degrees of sewage pollution. As a matter of fact, no correlation was found neither between the degree of sewage pollution and the percentage of antimicrobial resistant heterotrophic bacteria nor between the number of resistant faecal bacteria and that of resistant heterotrophic bacteria. Most of the resistant isolates from the Zenne river downstream Brussels were multi-resistant and the resistance patterns were similar among the strains of each phylogenetic group. The total microbial community in this polluted river (as evaluated through a 16S rRNA gene clone library analysis) appeared to be dominated by the phyla Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes while the phylum TM7 was the third most represented. 相似文献

目的:观察护理干预在颅脑损伤所致精神障碍患者中应用的临床效果,探讨提高颅脑损伤所致精神障碍患者护理水平的措施。方法:选取颅脑损伤所致精神障碍的患者64例,按随机数字表法均分为传统组(n=32例)和干预组(n=32例),传统组采取传统的护理措施,干预组在传统护理措施基础上给予护理干预措施,比较两组患者治疗后NOSIE-30评分、MMSE量表评分和MoCA量表评分。结果:治疗4周后,干预组的NOSIE-30评分优于传统组,差异有统计学意义(P<0.05);治疗第2、4周,干预组的MoCA评分和MMSE评分均优于传统组,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论:在颅脑损伤所致精神障碍患者临床护理过程中应积极加行护理干预措施,可促进患者临床症状的改善,有利于患者早日康复。 相似文献

A wide variety of chemicals and biological products are used to treat the water and sediment of ponds in semi-intensive and intensive south-east Asian shrimp farming. These products are also often used in shrimp hatcheries and to disinfect equipment for shrimp pond management. In spite of the size and importance of the shrimp farming industry in several south-east Asian countries, documentation of the quality and quantity of chemicals and biological products used during farming is scarce. This paper is a compilation of the literature available on substances used in shrimp farming, and the possible environmental effects of these products are analysed to the extent allowed by the limited information. The role of shrimp farm managers, the chemical industry, governments, inter-governmental organisations and scientists in the development of a sustainable practice is discussed. It is concluded that shrimp farmers should reduce the use of chemicals and biological products because of the risks to the environment, human health and to production, and also, because many chemicals and biological products used in pond management have not been scientifically shown to have a positive effect on production. Clearly, the use of some chemicals, i.e. certain antibiotics, poses a risk of danger towards human health. Some chemicals used in shrimp farming, such as organotin compounds, copper compounds, and other compounds with a high affinity to sediments leave persistent, toxic residues, and are likely to have a negative impact on the environment. However, to assess the reality of these risks, substantial new information about the quantity of chemicals used in marine south-east Asian shrimp farming is needed. 相似文献

Evaluating river water quality through land use analysis and N budget approaches in livestock farming areas 总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10
This study was carried out to evaluate the quality of river water by analysis of land use in drainage basins and by estimating the N budgets. The drainage basins of Shibetsu River (Shibetsu area) and Bekkanbeushi River (Akkeshi area) in eastern Hokkaido, Japan were selected for a case study, and the evaluation of water quality was up-scaled to the regional level in Hokkaido by using the Arcview/GIS and statistical information. Water sampling was carried out in August 2001 and May 2002 in the Shibetsu and Akkeshi areas, respectively. The proportions of major land uses in drainage basins such as upland field, forest, urban area, wetland and wasteland for each sampling site were estimated by using topographic maps scaled at 1:25,000. The linear regression results showed that the correlation between NO3-N concentration and the proportion of upland in the drainage basins was highly and positively significant for both the Shibetsu area (r = 0.84, n = 57) and the Akkeshi area (r = 0.71, n = 73) at < 0.001 significance level. The regression coefficients or impact factors of river water quality were 0.015 and 0.0052 for the Shibetsu and Akkeshi areas, respectively. A comparison of these results with that of the previous study results in Hokkaido indicated that the impact factors were highest for intensive livestock farming areas (0.040), medium for mixed agriculture and livestock farming (0.020-0.030), and the lowest for grassland-based dairy cattle and horse farming areas (0.0052-0.015). The results of a simple regression analysis showed that the impact factors had a significant positive correlation with the cropland surplus N (r = 0.93, P < 0.01), chemical fertilizer N (r = 0.82, P < 0.05), and manure fertilizer N (r = 0.76, P < 0.05), which were estimated by using the N budget approach. Using the best-correlated regression model, impact factors for all cities, towns and villages of the Hokkaido region were estimated. The NO3-N concentrations for all major rivers in Hokkaido were predicted by multiplying the estimated impact factors by the proportion of uplands. The regression analysis indicated that the predicted NO3-N concentrations were significantly correlated (r = 0.62, P < 0.001, n = 203) with the measured NO3-N concentrations, reported previously. It can be concluded that estimating the proportions of upland fields in drainage basins, and calculating cropland surplus N enables us to predict river water quality with respect to NO3-N concentration. 相似文献

Antibiotic and metal resistance is a global occurring phenomenon and a universal threat. The release of antibiotics and metals into the environment like natural water bodies stimulates resistant microbes that could become a reservoir for a resistant gene pool for other pathogenic bacteria. The aim of the study was to determine microbial diversity, distribution of antibiotic and metal resistance bacteria from five rivers. The resistance of 168 Gram negative isolates was tested against 10 antibiotics and five metals. The study revealed a high incidence of bacterial isolates resistant to ampicillin (44.7%), streptomycin (37.3%) and chloramphenicol (33.9%). The highest level of antibiotic resistance was detected in the River Ravi. The multiple antibiotic resistance (MAR) index of the five rivers ranged from <0.2 to 0.6. Isolates displayed tolerance to different concentrations of heavy metals. High antibiotic and metal‐resistances in samples from the Rivers Ravi and Soan suggest co‐resistance amongst the bacterial populations. 相似文献

To assess the presence and distribution of the sul genes (sul1, sul2, and sul3) and plasmids in human-mediated environments of north Vietnam, we examined a total of 127 sulfonamide-resistant (SR) bacterial isolates from four shrimp ponds (HNAQs), a city canal (HNCs) and three fish ponds that received wastewater directly from swine farms (HNPs). Results from the SR isolates revealed that sul genes were most frequently detected in the HNPs (92.0%), followed by HNCs (72.0%), and the HNAQs (43.0%). Among the sul genes detected, sul1 was the most prevalent gene in all three environments (57.0, 33.0 and 60.0% in HNPs, HNAQs, and HNCs, respectively) followed by sul2 (51.0, 19.0, and 20.0%, respectively) and sul3 (14.0, 6.0, and 8.0%, respectively). All combinations of paired different sul genes were detected, with the combination between sul1 and sul2 being the most frequent in all three environments (20.0, 8.0, and 8.0% in HNPs, HNAQs, and HNCs, respectively). The combination of three sul genes was detected at low frequencies (2-3%) in the HNPs and HNAQs, and was absent in the HNCs. The sul genes were more frequently located on the chromosome than on plasmids. The identification of SR isolates positive for the sul genes and plasmids showed that Acinetobacter was the most dominant. Our study revealed that the sul genes were common in SR bacteria from the aquatic environments we examined from northern Vietnam. Wastewater from swine farms might be "hot spots" of the sul genes and plasmids and may be reservoirs for the exchange of the sul genes among bacteria. 相似文献

The behaviour of drug-resistant coliform bacteriasin a series of sewage maturation ponds was investigated. The average reduction through the ponds of coliforms resistant to ampicillin, chloramphenicol, kanamycin, streptomycin or tetracycline was 6.83 per cent lower than that of drug-sensitive bacteria. This difference was mainly due to coliforms with transferable resistance (R+ coliforms) which increased from 0.86 per cent to 2.45 per cent through the ponds. The spectrum of transferable resistance of coliforms in the effluent did not differ notably from that of coliforms in the influent. The average incidence of Escherichia coli I among R+ coliforms decreased from 66.08 per cent to 62.09 per cent. This indicates that low-level transfer of R factors may occur in ponds. Possible mechanisms and the epidemiological significance of the increased survival of R+ coliforms in maturation ponds are discussed. 相似文献

This study was undertaken to determine the comparative incidence of drug-resistant coliforms and salmonellae in the water and bottom sediments of six coastal canal communities which are used heavily for recreational activities. Of a total of 423 coliforms, 300 fecal coliforms and 100 salmonella isolates examined, 74.9% coliforms, 61.3% fecal coliforms and 71.0% salmonellae were resistant to one or more of the 12 antibiotics tested. Multiple resistance occurred in 48.9% coliforms, 32.7% fecal coliforms and 68.0% salmonella strains. A total of 178 coliforms, 137 fecal coliforms and 51 salmonella isolates were tested for the presence of resistance transfer factors, and 53.9%, 53.3% and 56.9% isolates, respectively, were capable of transferring their resistance patterns to Escherichia coli and/or Salmonella choleraesuis recipient strains. A significantly higher number of drug-resistant bacteria carrying R-factors (R+) was found to occur in sediment than in surface water. 相似文献

Wild rodents can be carriers of antimicrobial resistant Escherichia coli. As rodents are known to be involved in the transmission of bacteria of human and animal health concern, they could likewise contribute to the dissemination of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in the environment. The aim of this study was therefore to get first insights into the antimicrobial resistance status among E. coli isolated from wild small mammals in rural areas. We tested 188 faecal isolates from eight rodent and one shrew species originating from Germany. Preselected resistant isolates were screened by minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) testing or agar diffusion test and subsequent PCR analysis of resistance genes. The prevalence of antimicrobial resistant isolates was low with only 5.5% of the isolates exhibiting resistant phenotypes against at least one antimicrobial compound including beta-lactams, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides and sulfonamides.These results suggest a minor role of wild rodents from rural areas in the cycle of transmission and spread of antimicrobial resistant E. coli into the environment. Nevertheless E. coli with multiple antimicrobial resistances were significantly more often detected in wildlife rodents originating from areas with high livestock density suggesting a possible transmission from livestock to wild rodents. 相似文献
