The fluid and particle dynamics of a high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) thermal spray torch are analyzed using computational
and experimental techniques. Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results are presented for a curved aircap
used for coating interior surfaces such as engine cylinder bores. The device analyzed is similar to the Metco diamond jet
rotating wire (DJRW) torch. The feed gases are injected through an axisymmetric nozzle into the curved aircap. Premixed propylene
and oxygen are introduced from an annulus in the nozzle, while cooling air is injected between the nozzle and the interior
wall of the aircap. The combustion process is modeled using a single-step, finite-rate chemistry model with a total of nine
gas species which includes dissociation of combustion products. A continually fed steel wire passes through the center of
the nozzle, and melting occurs at a conical tip near the exit of the aircap. Wire melting is simulated computationally by
injecting liquid steel particles into the flow field near the tip of the wire. Experimental particle velocity measurements
during wire feed were also taken using a laser two-focus (L2F) velocimeter system. Flow fields inside and outside the aircap
are presented, and particle velocity predictions are compared with experimental measurements outside of the aircap.

The synthesis of new lutetium(III) bisphthalocyanines substituted with alkylthio groups (1–5) is described. These compounds (Pc2Lu) are soluble in most common organic solvents and have been fully characterized (elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV–Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry). The thermal stabilities of the Pc compounds were determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The mesogenic properties of these new materials forming columnar-hexagonal (Colh) mesophases were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The compounds 2–5 exhibit a double clearing point. DC electrical properties of these compounds in different phases were determined by measuring I–V characteristics and dark current of their thin films on interdigital electrodes. The measurements were carried out in ambient air, in vacuum and in high purity nitrogen (N2) flow in the temperature range between 300 and 420 K. Dark current measurements obtained in the crystal, liquid crystal (LC) and isotropic liquid phases were in agreement with the phase transitions of these compounds obtained by DSC and optical microscopy results. The relation between the phase transition and conductivity of the Pc2Lu derivatives were investigated. Also, the influence of the nature of the substituted group (alkylthia and alkoxy) upon the DC electrical properties of the Pc2Lu derivatives was investigated. The DC conductivities and the thermal activation energies depending on alkyl chain lengths of these compounds were found to be in the range of 10?8 to 10?5 S/cm and 0.12–0.38 eV in solid phase. 相似文献

A new conductive polymer is prepared by electropolymerization of thieno(3,2-b)thiophene. Electrochemical characterization by cyclic voltammetry shows that it can be repeatedly driven between the doped and the undoped species. The FT-IR spectra of both materials are compared and the electrical conductivity is shown to be 3 × 10−6 S cm−1. 相似文献

The relationships of cooling rate with microstructure and thermal conductivity of vermicular graphite cast iron(VGI) cylinder block were studied, which are important for design and optimization of the casting process of VGI cylinder blocks. Cooling rates at different positions in the cylinder block were calculated based on the cooling curves recorded with a solidification simulation software. The metallographic structure and thermal conductivity were observed and measured using optical microscopy(OM), scanning electrical microscopy(SEM) and laser flash diffusivity apparatus, respectively. The effects of the cooling rate on the vermicularity, total and average areas of all graphite particles, and the pearlite fraction in the VGI cylinder block were investigated. It is found that the vermicularity changes in parabola trend with the increase of cooling rate. The total area of graphite particles and the cooling rate at eutectoid stage can be used to predict pearlite fraction well. Moreover, it is found that the thermal conductivity at room temperature is determined by the average area of graphite particles and pearlite fraction when the range of vermicularity is from 80% to 93%. Finally, the quantitative models are established to calculate the vermicularity, pearlite fraction, and thermal conductivity of the VGI cylinder block. 相似文献
