Since radio frequency identification (RFID) technology has become increasingly common in numerous applications, including large-scale supply chain management, improving the efficiency of RFID tag identification is an important task. In practical settings, the identification of RFID tags often occurs in a dynamic environment, in which tags move through a specific interrogation range. However, the literature contains few studies on the design of efficient identification protocols in dynamic environments. This study proposes a novel tag identification protocol that is particularly efficient in dynamic environments. the proposed protocol involves two anti-collision techniques: adaptive n-Resolution (AnR) and k-Collision Arbitration (kCA). These two techniques significantly improve the tag identification delay and communication overhead. This improvement is primarily due to the use of a newly designed challenge-response bit sequence mechanism and the information obtained from the previous tag identification procedure. As a result, AnR requires only a constant number of interrogation times regardless of the number of target tags, while kCA further improves the efficiency of tag identification with \(k\) -splitting collision arbitration. Rigorous analysis and simulation experiments show that this tag identification protocol significantly outperforms related methods (by at least 48.85 % identification delay and 23.87 % communication overhead can).  相似文献

One of the main problems that affect the data integrity of passive RFID systems is the collision between the tags. A popular anticollision algorithm which dominates the standards in HF and UHF passive RFID systems is Framed Slotted Aloha (FSA) and some variations of FSA. Throughput and average time delay of the RFID system which determines the performance/efficiency of the system are reduced rapidly when the number of tags inside the interrogation zone is increased. Using larger frame sizes is not always the solution. This paper discusses and compares the existing protocols, and proposes a variation of FSA, called Progressing Scanning (PS) algorithm. The PS algorithm divides the tags in the interrogation zone into smaller groups and gives the reader the ability to communicate with each of them. For performance analysis, the PS algorithm was evaluated with the parameters of a typical passive RFID system at 2.5 GHz. The results showed that the PS algorithm can improve the efficiency of the RFID system and provide a reliable solution for cases with a high density of tags in the area (over 800 tags).  相似文献

This paper focuses on the analysis of tags collection time of 2.4 GHz embedded active Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system for indoor and outdoor real-time tracking and monitoring applications based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard. The main novelty of the system is the implementation of the communication method in order to provide Machine to Machine (M2M) communication and automated switching mechanism between indoor and outdoor location by utilizing active RFID, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), Global Positioning System (GPS) and mobile communication on a single platform. In this work, GPS receiver covers outdoor location tracking, while active RFID provides identification and Receive Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) reading for each tag holder to cover indoor location tracking especially near or inside building where location information is not detected by GPS. Several experiments were conducted on three different RFID tags which were active RFID tag embedded with GPS and GSM (ERFIDG2), active RFID tag embedded with GPS (ERFIDG) and standalone RFID tag communicating with the same active RFID reader. The experiment was done to evaluate the communication performance of the active RFID in terms of tags collection time using Transparent (AT) and Application Programming Interface (API) mode. The experiment was extended to measure tags collection time in single hop and multi hops communication for Tag Talk First (TTF) and Reader Talk First (RTF) protocols. The results show that the proposed active RFID system (ERFIDG2) is better than the standalone and ERFIDG systems. The in-depth research done in this work is to study the experience and identify the challenges that will be faced in the development and implementation of a wireless RFID-based system for tracking and monitoring applications.  相似文献

This paper proposes a tree-based backoff (TBB) protocol that reduces the number of iterations implemented in the procedure of tag collision arbitration in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. This is achieved by employing the following mechanisms: one is send the request command iteratively to all tags in the interrogation zone until a single tag is identified. The other is backward to the parent node instead of root node to obtain the request parameters and send the request command again until all tags are identified. Compared with the traditional tree-based protocol, on average, simulated results show that the TBB protocol reduces the number of the iterations by 72.3% and the identification delay by 58.6% and achieves the goal of fast tag identification.  相似文献

提出一种新型的通过参考标签和移动RFID射频读写器进行定位的方法。该定位方法的主要优点是不需要记录任何测量信息如TOA、RSSI等,而是通过移动读写器,不断对目标标签和参考标签进行读取,经椭圆还原算法对读区域进行还原,最终以交集计算实现定位。该方法思路简单,但实现了较高精度的RFID室内定位。实验结果表明,该定位方法的精度可在最小的参考标签单元格内(可到达数十厘米级)。同时建立的原型定位系统具有成本低、易于部署等特点,存在应用于大规模RFID仓储定位管理的可行性。  相似文献

Energy-Aware Tag Anticollision Protocols for RFID Systems   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Energy consumption of portable RFID readers is becoming an important issue as applications of RFID systems pervade many aspects of our lives. Surprisingly, however, these systems are not energy-aware with the focus till date being on reducing the time to read all tags by the reader. In this work, we consider the problem of tag arbitration in RFID systems with the aim of designing energy-aware anticollision protocols. We explore the effectiveness of using multiple time slots per node of a binary search tree through three anticollision protocols. We further develop an analytical framework to predict the performance of our protocols and enable protocol parameter selection. We demonstrate that all three protocols provide significant energy savings both at the reader and tags (if they are active tags) compared to the existing Query Tree protocol, while sharing the deterministic property of the latter. Further, we show that our protocols provide similar benefits even with correlated tag IDs.  相似文献

The difficulty in reliably and efficiently detecting and locating buried unexploded ordnance (UXO) is a concern for the military. Tagging munitions and ordnance items before they are fired or launched would allow for a significantly more efficient means of locating buried UXO. Munition tagging can be accomplished by employing existing passive radio-frequency identification (RFID) tag technology, such as the Texas Instruments' solenoidal tags. This tagging approach would result in very low falsealarm rates compared to those currently experienced. The tags provide information on the munition's location and identity when the UXO tag interrogation module is brought nearby. This paper summarizes the analytical and experimental efforts Battelle pursued to reach these conclusions. Analytical efforts included modeling of the magnetic field's behavior to understand the requirements to transmit energy from the above-ground interrogator to the tag and from the tag back to the above-ground receiver. Laboratory work validated the modeling results and showed the feasibility of the technique. Field testing of a prototype system indicated the likely success of this approach to detecting buried UXO.  相似文献

In Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) system, one of the most important issues that affect the data integrity is the collision resolution between the tags when these tags transmit their data to reader. In majority of tag anti-collision algorithm, Dynamic Framed Slotted Aloha (DFSA) has been employed as a popular collision resolution algorithm to share the medium when multiple tags respond to the reader’s signal command. According to previous works, the performance of DFSA algorithm is optimal when the frame size equals to the number of un-identified tags inside the interrogation zone. However, based on our research results, when the frame size equals to number of tags, collision occurs frequently, and this severely affects the system performance because it causes power consumption and longer tag reading time. Since the proper choice of the frame size has a great influence on overall system performance, in this paper we develop an analytical model to study the system throughput of DFSA based RFID systems, and then we use this model to search for an optimal frame size that maximizes the system throughput based on current number of un-identified tags. In addition to theoretical analysis, simulations are conducted to evaluate its performance. Comparing with the traditional DFSA anti-collision algorithm, the simulation results show that the proposed scheme reaches better performance with respect to the tag collision probability and tag reading time.  相似文献

针对标签分布疏密程度的变化会导致其天线与负载的阻抗匹配关系改变进而影响系统性能的问题。该文结合电磁波传播理论和射频识别(RFID)工作原理,导出了标签分别处于稀疏和密集分布状态下的RFID系统通信链路模型;结合变压器模型和二端口网络分析方法,推导了标签密集分布状态时标签天线的互阻抗表达式;利用功率传输系数和反向散射调制因子,分析了标签分布疏密程度对RFID系统性能的影响;基于加载条匹配原理,提出一种适用于分布疏密状态变化情形的标签天线优化设计方法。仿真实验和实际测量结果表明,标签密集分布时,改进标签的性能较原型标签提升16%;标签稀疏分布时,改进标签的性能达到原型标签的96%。  相似文献

Applications of passive radio frequency identification (RFID) systems have gained considerable attentions in recent years. Because a passive tag must obtain its operating power from a continuous wave transmitted from a reader in a conventional RFID system, reader coverage is limited. Thus, expanding reader coverage is a current goal in RFID research. In this work, passive tags are provided with additional operating power via continuous waves in multiple frequency bands. In an interrogation region, continuous wave emitters, which provide additional operating power to passive tags, are deployed according to the base station configuration in a cellular phone system. Because transmission power of continuous wave emitters must consider the reader command demodulation constraint and minimum operating power required by a tag, transmission power of continuous wave emitters must be chosen carefully. A method for analyzing reader coverage in multi-carrier passive UHF RFID systems is derived in this work. Assuming all tags are uniformly distributed in an interrogation region, the optimal continuous wave emitter transmission power that achieves the largest reader coverage can be analytically determined. Simulation results verify that continuous wave emitters with suitable transmission power expand reader coverage in a multi-carrier passive UHF RFID system. Additionally, adjusting reader power in the forward (reader-to-tag) link duration can loosen the reader command demodulation constraint and thereby further expand reader coverage.  相似文献

为了解决射频识别(RFID)系统中的多标签防碰撞问题,在分析帧时隙ALOHA算法的基础上,提出一种基于模运算标签分类的RFID标签防碰撞识别方法。引入一种检测信息碰撞的时隙选择信息,对标签所选取时隙的碰撞情况进行分析并估计标签数量;然后对标签EPC编码进行逐级的取模运算,将同余的标签归为一组。各个标签经过K次取模运算后,分为2k组,每组只有发生少量碰撞位的标签。再将标签按照分组对应的时隙发送,碰撞标签采用二叉树后退式算法处理。本方法极大的提高了标签的识别效率,适用于射频识别系统中阅读器对于大量电子标签的快速识别。  相似文献

RFID technology acts as a bridge to connect the physical world with the digital space, and RFID system is pervading our daily life in the last few years. The energy consumed by the reader and a tag in resolving the collisions caused by multiple tags is a key issue that affects life time of mobile reader and active tags, as well as the identification accuracy of passive tags. In this paper, the energy consumed by the reader and a tag in resolving the tag collision is examined for the commonly used RFID tag collision resolution protocols, including the frame slotted ALOHA based and the binary query tree based protocols. Numeric evaluation is also performed and the result verifies that regarding to energy consumption, the dynamic frame slotted ALOHA protocol for the Class-1 RFID system performs best among the frame slotted ALOHA protocols, and the modified binary query tree protocol also performs better than the standard binary query tree protocols.  相似文献

Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems are very effective for identifying objects. Existing published works focus on designing efficient collision resolution protocols for the tag identification problem in RFID systems with passive RFID tags. However, advances in low‐cost and low‐power sensing technologies will make active RFID tags more popular and affordable in the near future. In multiple object identification systems with active tags, the tags are designed for extremely low‐cost large‐scale applications such that battery replacement is not feasible. This imposes a critical energy‐constraint on the communication protocols used in these systems. In this paper, we analyze energy consumption and identification times for several protocols. This paper reviews recent advances in fully printed chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) technology with special concern on the discussion of coding theories, ID generating circuits, and tag antennas. Two types of chipless tags, one based on time-domain reflections and the other based on frequency domain signatures, are introduced. To enable a fully printed encoding circuit, linearly tapering technique is adopted in the first type of tags to cope with parasitic resistances of printed conductors. Both simulation and measurement efforts are made to verify the feasibility of the eight-bit fully printed paper-based tag. In the second type of tags, a group of LC tanks are exploited for encoding data in frequency domain with their resonances. The field measurements of the proof-of-concept of the tag produced by toner-transferring process and flexible printed circuit boards are provided to validate the practicability of the reconfigurable ten-bit chipless RFID tag. Furthermore, a novel RFID tag antenna design adopting linearly tapering technique is introduced. It shows 40 % save of conductive ink materials while keeping the same performance for conventional half-wave dipole antennas and meander line antennas. Finally, the paper discusses the future trends of chipless RFID tags in terms of fabrication cost, coding capacity, size, and reconfigurability. We see that, coupled with revolutionary design of low-cost tag antennas, fabrication/reconfiguration by printing techniques, moving to higher frequencies to shrink tag sizes and reduce manufacturing cost, as well as innovation in ID generating circuits to increase coding capacities, will be important research topics towards item-level tracking applications of chipless RFID tags.  相似文献

The RFID reader collision problem, in which an RFID reader's interrogation is interfered by other concurrent readers' transmission, is considered an important issue to reliable operation and thus to the wide‐spread deployment of RFID networks. In this paper, we present modeling and analysis of the RFID reader collision problem. We observe asymmetry between an RFID reader's and a tag's communication capabilities and develop an RFID radio model based on the asymmetry. By the model, we characterize the spatial reuse of RFID reader networks, and derive concurrent interrogation distance beyond which readers can transmit simultaneously without causing collision and the carrier sense threshold corresponding to the distance. We also examine the dual‐channel mode where available bandwidth is divided into two channels by which reader‐to‐tag communication and tag‐to‐reader communication are separated. 在射频识别RFID系统中,防碰撞算法对于标签的快速识别,尤其在移动应用的场景中非常重要。该文针对移动场景中停留标签,提出了组策略停留标签算法GSRA(Group Strategy for Remaining tags Algorithm),分为停留标签识别和新到标签识别两个阶段,并将停留标签信息分组存放与更新,从而提高停留标签的识别效率。理论分析证明该算法系统效率仅与标签动态时移动时的迁移速率和静态时的系统效率有关,而与标签数量无关。仿真结果表明GSRA算法在标签迁移速率为20%时,结合冲突树算法CT,系统效率可以达到240%。  相似文献

为了解决射频识别(Radio Frequency IDentification,RFID)系统中的多标签防碰撞问题,在分析帧时隙ALOHA算法的基础上,提出一种基于分组自适应分配时隙的RFID防碰撞算法(GAAS).首先让阅读器对标签随机所选的时隙进行扫描统计,并将其发送给每一个标签,标签再进行相应地时隙调整,使阅读器跳过空闲时隙和碰撞时隙,自适应地分配有效时隙,进而对标签进行快速识别.当未识别标签数比较大时,算法采用分组以及动态调整帧长等策略,以减少时隙处理的时间.仿真结果表明:GAAS算法提高了系统的识别效率和稳定性,降低了传输开销.特别是当标签数超过1000时,该算法的吞吐率仍保持在71%以上,比传统的帧时隙ALOHA-256算法和分组动态帧时隙ALOHA算法的系统效率分别提高了300%和97.2%.  相似文献
