Novel microwave-absorbing SiOC composite ceramics with dual nanowires (carbon nanowires (CNWs) and SiC nanowires) with high performances were fabricated by using the polymer-derivation method and heat treatment in Ar atmosphere. The introduction of CNWs in the amorphous SiOC ceramics promotes the ceramic crystallization into SiC nanoparticles and SiC nanowires at lower annealing temperatures, which leads to multi-phases and multiple nano heterogeneous interfaces. The distinctive architectures largely increase the interfacial and dipole polarizations of the composite ceramics. The CNWs/SiC/SiOC composite ceramics exhibit excellent microwave-absorption properties in the Ku band (12.4–18 GHz). The minimum reflection coefficient (RC) is -24.5 dB at a thickness of 1.8 mm, while the maximum effective absorption bandwidth (EAB, the corresponding frequency band in which RC is smaller than -10 dB) is 4.8 GHz at a thickness of 1.9 mm, which make the CNWs/SiC/SiOC composite ceramics promising electromagnetic-wave-absorbing materials.  相似文献

SiCf/BN/SiC Ceramic-Matrix Composites are candidate materials for aero-engines, but their interphase stability after potential low-temperature water-vapour exposures during flight cycles is not well known. The examination of these composites exposed for 50, 250 and 500 h at low temperature (65 °C) and 95% relative humidity was therefore performed, in order to understand if resulting oxidation products affected the mechanical properties at the micro-scale. The composites were subject to fibre push-out tests to compare pristine from degraded composites. It was found that whilst the sample exposed for 50 h had no significant change from pristine, the samples exposed for 250 and 500 h had a clear decrease in interfacial shear strengths measured. Parallel studies also revealed that whilst damage was strongly localised, the diffusion of water within the composite was not fully complete at exposure times between 50 and 250 h. The permeability of the CMC was shown to be affected at longer exposure times where differences in mechanical performances even between tows and within tows were noted.  相似文献

Alternating pyrolytic carbon/boron nitride (PyC/BN)n multilayer coatings were applied to the KD–II silicon carbide (SiC) fibres by chemical vapour deposition technique to fabricate continuous SiC fibre-reinforced SiC matrix (SiCf/SiC) composites with improved flexural strength and fracture toughness. Three-dimensional SiCf/SiC composites with different interfaces were fabricated by polymer infiltration and pyrolysis process. The microstructure of the coating was characterised by scanning electron microscopy, X–photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The interfacial shear strength was determined by the single-fibre push-out test. Single-edge notched beam (SENB) test and three-point bending test were used to evaluate the influence of multilayer interfaces on the mechanical properties of SiCf/SiC composites. The results indicated that the (PyC/BN)n multilayer interface led to optimum flexural strength and fracture toughness of 566.0?MPa and 21.5?MPa?m1/2, respectively, thus the fracture toughness of the composites was significantly improved.  相似文献

SiC-nanowire-reinforced SiCf/SiC composites were successfully fabricated through an in situ growth of SiC nanowires on SiC fibres via chemical vapour infiltration. The dielectric and microwave absorption properties of the composites were investigated within the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz at 25–600 °C. The electric conductivity and complex permittivity of the composites displayed evident temperature-dependent behaviour and were enhanced with increasing temperature. The composites exhibited superior microwave absorption abilities with a minimum reflection loss value of ?47.5 dB at 11.4 GHz and an effective bandwidth of 2.8 GHz at 600 °C. Apart from the contribution of the interconnected SiC nanowire network and multiple reflections, the excellent microwave absorption performance was attributed to dielectric loss that originated from SiC nanowires with abundant stacking faults and heterostructure interfaces. Results suggested that the composites are promising candidates for high-temperature microwave absorbing materials.  相似文献

In this study, the high-content SiCnw reinforced SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiCnw/SiC CMC) were successfully fabricated by hot pressing β-SiC and sintering additive (Al2O3-Y2O3) with boron nitride interphase modification SiCnw. The effects of sintering additive content and mass fraction (5–25 wt%) of SiCnw on the density, microstructure, and mechanical properties of the composites were investigated. The results showed that with the increase of sintering additives from 10 wt% to 12 wt%, the relative density of the SiCnw/SiC CMC increased from 97.3% to 98.9%, attributed to the generated Y3Al5O12 (YAG) liquid phase from the Al2O3-Y2O3 that promotes the rearrangement and migration of SiC grains. The comprehensive performance of the obtained composite with 15 wt% SiCnw possessed the optimal flexural strength and fracture toughness of 524 ± 30.24 MPa and 12.39 ± 0.49 MPa·m1/2, respectively. Besides, the fracture mode of the composites with 25 wt% SiCnw content revealed a pseudo-plastic fracture behavior. It concludes that the 25 wt% SiCnw/SiC CMC was toughened by the fiber pull-outs, debonding, bridging, and crack deflection that can consume plenty of fracture energy. The strategy of SiC nanowires worked as a main bearing phase for the fabrication of SiC/SiC CMC providing critical information for understanding the mechanical behavior of high toughness and high strength SiC nanoceramic matrix composites.  相似文献

SiC/Al2O3 composite powders with SiC nanowires were synthesized using a one-step combustion synthesis method taking silica fume (SiO2), aluminum powder (Al) and carbon black (CB) as raw materials, while ferrocene (C10H10Fe) was used as the catalyst. The calculated results for the relationship between the equilibrium phase and temperature of the Al–SiO2–C system show that SiC and Al2O3 are the only equilibrium phases in the system. In addition, the effects of C10H10Fe on the combustion synthesis process and products were studied. It was found that with increasing catalyst content, the amount of residual Si in the products first decreases and then increases, the combustion temperature first increases and then decreases, and the nanowire content continues to increase. For an optimal amount of C10H10Fe of 0.75 wt%, almost no residual Si is observed in the product, while the combustion temperature (Tc) is high (2104 K), the SiC nanowire content is relatively high, and the nanowire aspect ratio is large. In addition, two growth mechanism models for SiC nanowires: VS and VLS were validated.  相似文献

Cf/SiC composite is an excellent structural and functional material, silicon carbide nanowires (SiCnws) are not only a toughening material but also a great application in the field of microwave absorption. In this study, SiCnws are grown on the surface of carbon fiber (Cf) by polymer impregnation and pyrolysis, and the SiC matrix was prepared by chemical vapor osmosis method. The SiCnws are introduced to enhance the mechanical and microwave absorption properties simultaneously. After 3 impregnations, the flexural strength of the composite was 107.35 ± 10 MPa. When the thickness is 1.86 mm, the minimum reflection loss value is ?41.08 dB, and the effective absorption bandwidth (RL ≤ ?10 dB) is 3.86 GHz. Furthermore, the microwave absorption mechanism of the material is discussed. This work provides a new method to prepare lightweight, stable and high-performance microwave absorption materials, and these materials are expected to be used in high temperature environments.  相似文献

In this study, SiC nanowires (SiCNWS) were grown in situ on the surface of PyC interface through chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) to improve the mechanical characteristics and thermal conductivity of three-dimensional SiCf/SiC composites fabricated via precursor infiltration pyrolysis (PIP). The effect of SiCNWS on the properties of the obtained composites was investigated by comparing them with conventional SiCf/PyC/SiC composites. After the deposition of SiCNWS, the flexural strength of the SiCf/SiC composites was found to increase by 46 %, and the thermal conductivity showed an obvious increase at 25?1000 °C. The energy release of the composites in the damage evolution process was analysed by acoustic emission. The results indicated that the damage evolution process was delayed owing to the decrease in porosity, the crack deflection and bridging of the SiCNWS. Furthermore, the excellent thermal conductivity was attributed to the thermally conductive pathways formed by the SiCNWS in the dense structure.  相似文献

In this paper, the microhardness of the AZ91D matrix in Cf-SiCNWs/AZ91D composites is investigated. It is found that introducing SiCNWs into composites can increase the microhardness of the AZ91D matrix close to the SiCNWs (the vertical distance does not exceed 100 μm from the SiCNWs), which is as high as 84.34 HV and is 36.78 % higher than that of the alloy far away from the SiCNWs. The SiCNWs/AZ91D zone has the highest average microhardness (103.76Hv), which is 68.28 % higher than that of the AZ91D alloy in the Cf-SiCNWs/AZ91D composite. The increase in microhardness of AZ91D matrix is attributed to the synergistic effect of several reasons, including the increased dislocation density, the uneven dispersion of aluminum element caused by SiCNWs, as well as the nanocrystals of Mg17Al12 precipitates.  相似文献

To improve the high-temperature tolerance of carbon/carbon composites, a compact SiC-nanowires toughened LaB6-MoSi2-SiC/SiC (SiCnws-LMS/SiC) coating was designed and fabricated by combination of multiple methods including pack cementation, chemical vapor deposition and supersonic atmospheric plasma spraying. Isothermal oxidation results indicated that the mass loss of LMS/SiC coating decreased from 4.34?±?0.28% to 1.12?±?0.23% after oxidation for 200?h at 1773?K benefit from the addition of SiCnws. Absence of obvious cracks and voids in the coating after oxidation test indicated that the interfaces between various phases and SiCnws could obstruct the crack propagation by releasing the thermal stress in the coating. Meanwhile, after the introduction of SiCnws, the bonding strength and flexural strength of the coating were respectively increased by 54.54% and 59.77% compared to the LMS/SiC coating without SiCnws. The improved mechanical properties could be attributed to the pullout and bridging effects of SiCnws, which created multi-scaled reinforcements, thereby enhancing the load bearing capacity to increase the fracture toughness of the coating.  相似文献

SiC/SiC mini-composites reinforced with SiC fibers coated with different numbers of ZrSiO4 sublayers prepared via a non-hydrolytic sol-gel process were fabricated. The tensile strength and work of fracture of the prepared SiC/SiC mini-composites were determined, and the relationship between their mechanical properties and fracture morphologies was discussed. The toughening mechanism and the variation tendency of their mechanical properties were further elaborated by analyzing the interfacial debonding morphologies of the SiC/SiC mini-composites with 1 and 4 layers of ZrSiO4 interphase as well as the results of prior studies. A relatively rare phenomenon—the delamination of the multilayer ZrSiO4 interphase in the SiC/SiC mini-composites but not on the SiC fibers—was observed, which clearly demonstrated the weak bonding between the ZrSiO4 sublayers in the SiC/SiC mini-composites. The ZrSiO4 sublayer delamination mechanism was then explained based on the high-magnification morphologies found in and beside the ZrSiO4 interphase.  相似文献

Herein, the SiC nanowires were successfully fabricated via chemical vapor infiltration (CVI) into carbon fiber felts (CFs) and then the SiOC/SiCnws/CFs composites were synthesized by precursor infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) processes. Results indicated that the lightweight composites possessed enhanced mechanical performance, low thermal conductivity, and excellent electromagnetic wave absorption properties. Detailedly, the compressive strength reached to 22.0 MPa and 9.6 MPa after two PIP processes cycles in z and x/y directions, respectively. Meanwhile, the composites exhibited tailored electromagnetic wave absorption performance with the effective absorption bandwidth of 3.06 GHz, and the minimum reflection loss (RLmin) was -48.2 dB with a thickness of 3.6 mm. The present work has a guidance to prepare and design multifunction properties for application in harsh environment.  相似文献

Ultra-high temperature ceramic (UHTC) hybrid powders modified using in situ grown SiC nanowires (SiCNWs) were successfully prepared via a simple catalytic method. The self-produce carbon and silicon source promoted the growth of SiCNWs during the pyrolysis process of ZrB2 polymer precursors coated ZrB2-SiC powders. The results showed that the growth of SiCNWs could be explained by a tip-growth model and vapor–liquid–solid (VLS) growth mechanism. The SiCNWs with diameter of 200 nm were single crystalline, and the content could be controlled by changing the catalyst content.  相似文献

Silicon-carbide nanowires (SiCnws) have been considered as dielectric loss materials for application in the field of electromagnetic wave (EMW) attenuation. In this study, SiCnws/carbon fiber (CF) composites were fabricated using precursor infiltration and pyrolysis process for the in-situ growth of SiCnws. The SiCnw fraction of the SiCnws/CF composites could be adjusted using various catalysts. At a small SiCnw fraction (38 wt%), the composites exhibited excellent EMW absorption performance with the minimum reflection loss of ? 18.3 dB when their thickness was only 1.2 mm and can cover the entire X and Ku bands by adjusting the material thickness. They transformed from EMW absorption performance to electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding property with the increase in SiCnw fraction from 38 wt% to 73 wt%, reaching an EMI shielding effectiveness of 31.25 dB. In addition, the density of the SiCnws/CF composites was only 0.31–0.41 g/cm3, and their compressive strength can reach 0.61–0.99 MPa with excellent high-temperature stability. Therefore, the SiCnws/CF composite presents a promising EMW absorption and EMI shielding material that can be applied in harsh environments.  相似文献

A novel surface treatment method by electrophoretic depositing SiC nanowires on the C/C composite was introduced to reinforce the C/C–Nb brazed joints. Results showed that the electrophoretic deposition (EPD) process of SiC nanowires could improve the wettability of the liquid AgCuTi alloy on the C/C substrate because of the reaction between SiC nanowires and active element Ti in the AgCuTi alloy. With the introduction of SiC nanowires, the formation of continuous brittle Ti3Cu4 layer was inhibited and the Ti3Cu4 changed into lumps. The thickness of the TiC reaction layer was 500 nm when the EPD time was 5s which was larger than that of the original brazed joint. As the EPD time continued to increase, the thickness of the TiC reaction layer decreased gradually and the size of brittle Ti3Cu4 phase in the joint became smaller and smaller. With the combined effects of the change in the Ti3Cu4 morphology and the TiC reaction layer thickness, the average shear strength of joints achieved a peak of 48 MPa when the EPD time was 30s, which was 60% higher than that of the original brazed joints.  相似文献

SiCf/SiC composites using KD-I and KD-II SiC fibers braided preforms as the reinforcements were fabricated by applying the polymer impregnation and pyrolysis (PIP) technique with a microwave heating assistance. The microwave heating temperature was 1100 °C, 1200 °C, 1300 °C, and 1400 °C, respectively. Microstructures, flexure properties, and fracture behaviors of the composites were investigated. The KDIISiCf/SiC composites exhibited higher flexure properties and improved non-brittle fracture characteristics than those of the KD-ISiCf/SiC composites. The differences in the flexural properties, fracture behaviors and microstructures between the KD-I and KDIISiCf/SiC composites were discussed based on the tensile properties of the SiC filaments and the interfacial bonding statues in the composites.  相似文献

Electrospun unidirectional SiC fibers reinforced SiCf/SiC composites (e-SiCf/SiC) were prepared with ∼10% volume fraction by polymer infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP) process. Pyrolysis temperature was varied to investigate the changes in microstructures, mechanical, thermal, and dielectric properties of e-SiCf/SiC composites. The composites prepared at 1100 °C exhibit the highest flexural strength of 286.0 ± 33.9 MPa, then reduced at 1300 °C, mainly due to the degradation of electrospun SiC fibers, increased porosity, and reaction-controlled interfacial bonding. The thermal conductivity of e-SiCf/SiC prepared at 1300 °C reached 2.663 W/(m∙K). The dielectric properties of e-SiCf/SiC composites were also investigated and the complex permittivities increase with raising pyrolysis temperature. The e-SiCf/SiC composites prepared at 1300 °C exhibited EMI shielding effectiveness exceeding 24 dB over the whole X band. The electrospun SiC fibers reinforced SiCf/SiC composites can serve as a potential material for structural components and EMI shielding applications in the future.  相似文献

In carbon/carbon (C/C) composites, SiC/PyC core-shell structure nanowires were successfully fabricated via chemical liquid-vapor deposition (CLVD). The influences of heat-treatment temperature on the microstructure and composition of SiC nanowires were studied, and meanwhile the growth mechanism of SiC nanowires was discussed. Additionally, the microstructure and morphology of SiC/PyC core-shell structure nanowires were also investigated. The results displayed that the low heat-treatment temperature could not meet the requirements of SiC nanowires growth, but the too high temperature made the nanowires appear agglomerate easily. Only when the heat-treatment temperature was 1800 °C, SiC nanowires possessed a uniform distribution. The diameter of SiC nanowire was about 300 nm, and there was a SiO2 layer with the thickness of about 1 nm existing on the surface of SiC nanowire. The growth behavior of SiC nanowire was governed by vapor-solid (V–S) mechanism. After the PyC deposition, SiC/PyC core-shell structure nanowires were constructed, and the nanowires were about 450 nm in diameter. These nanowires displayed a core-shell structure with three layers, which were SiC nanowire core, SiO2 interlayer and PyC shell, respectively. Meanwhile, SiC/PyC core-shell structure nanowires connected the matrices with each other, and the core-shell structure nanowires generated a stable network.  相似文献

Hexagonal-shaped SiC nanowires were in situ formed in C/SiC composites with ferrocene as catalyst in the densification process of polymer impregnation and pyrolysis. The effect of SiC nanowires on microstructure and properties of the composites were studied. The results show that the in situ formed SiC nanowires were hexagonal, mostly with diamer of about 250 nm, and grew by the vapor–liquid–solid (VLS) mechanism. The C/SiC composite with nanowires shows higher bulk density and flexural strength than the one with no SiC nanowires, and the high temperature flexural strength behavior of C/SiC composites with SiC nanowires was evaluated.  相似文献

In this study, SiC interphase was prepared via a precursor infiltration-pyrolysis process, and effects of dipping concentrations on the mechanical, high-temperature dielectric and microwave absorption properties of the SiCf/SiC/Mu composites had been investigated. Results indicated that different dipping concentrations influenced ultimate interfacial morphology. The SiC interphase prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution was smooth and homogeneous, and no bridging between the fiber monofilament could be observed. At the same time, SiC interphase prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution had significantly improved mechanical properties of the composite. In particular, the flexural strength of the composite prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution reached 281 MPa. Both ε′ and ε′′ of the SiCf/SiC/Mu composites were enhanced after preparing SiC interphase at room temperature. The SiCf/SiC/Mu composite prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution showed the maximum dielectric loss value of 0.38 at 10 GHz. Under the dual action of polarization mechanism and conductance loss, both ε′ and ε′′ of the SiCf/SiC/Mu composites enhanced as the temperature increased. At 700 °C, the corresponding bandwidth (RL ≤ ?5 dB) of SiCf/SiC/Mu composites prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution can reach 3.3 GHz at 2.6 mm. The SiCf/SiC/Mu composite with SiC interphase prepared with 5 wt% PCS/xylene solution is expected to be an excellent structural-functional material.  相似文献
