P84 is a novel neural adhesion molecule that may play an important role in synaptogenesis. We have recently cloned a murine cDNA encoding the P84 adhesion molecule. The human homologue of P84 has previously been isolated (by others) as a brain specific cDNA containing CCA repeats. We have mapped the human P84 gene to the subtelomeric region of chromosome 20p (20p13) by FISH. In addition, we have been able to place P84 onto the high resolution physical map of the human genome by utilizing the Unigene database. P84 maps to several YAC clones, between STS markers IB255 and WI-9632, and very close to the polymorphic marker D20S199, in an interval of less than 1 Mb on 20p13. P84 is a strong candidate gene for neurological disorders which map into this region.  相似文献

In this portion of the clinical exchange, Drs. Kathleen Chard and Thomas Widiger, Joel Paris, Kenneth Silk, Amy Wagner, and Jeffrey Young discuss areas of agreement and disagreement about their concepts of the case, as described in their separate articles (see records 2005-02680-006; 2005-02680-007; 2005-02680-008; 2005-02680-009; 2005-02680-010) in this issue of the journal, of the patient with traits of borderline personality disorder described in "Restitution 101" (see record 2005-02680-005). Issues of diagnosis, phenomenology, case formulation, and treatment models and techniques are compared with an eye toward integrating the various viewpoints. BACKGROUND: The emergence and rapid world-wide spread of HIV provides an unusual opportunity for the study of the evolution and maintenance of virulence in a major human pathogen. OBJECTIVE: To analyse the available biological and epidemiological data on the pathogenicity, transmissibility and antigenic similarity of HIV-1 and HIV-2, and use simple mathematical models of competition between the two viral types within a defined host community. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Analysis revealed a positive association between pathogenicity and reproductive success. A mathematical model of the concomitant transmission of the two viruses suggests that HIV-1 will competitively displace HIV-2 in the longer term in areas where both viruses are being transmitted within the same sexually active population.  相似文献

Recent theoretical attempts have been made to bring about a rapprochement between client-centered and behavioral therapies. This case report of a 40-yr-old married woman with incapacitating phobic symptoms brings the discussion to an operational level and describes how both methods were successfully used with the same patient. It translates the patient's dynamics into behavioral terms, but cautions against extreme reliance on observable behavior to the exclusion of dynamics or covert behavior. "As originally used… 'convergence' referred to a lessening of discrepancy in judgments made by pairs (or larger groups) of subjects." It is anticipated that "in the therapeutic interaction itself a dependent event of convergence analogous to that of convergence in judgment-making… shifts in degree toward norms and standards made available to him by the therapist" will be found on the part of the client. "Indeed, in examining others' systematic discussions of the therapeutic process and their supporting evidence, we are struck more by the relevance and potential utility of the convergence postulate than by its spanking newness." The convergence postulate "affords meaningfulness and focus to the making of a social-structural analysis of the therapeutic process." Research "on therapeutic convergence may help make clear in what ways therapy, as a social event, may differ from other diadic relationships in everyday life." For appropriate approach to diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis, it is necessary to understand the pathological processes from primary infection and acquisition of cellular immunity to reactivation, progression and cure of the tuberculous lesions. The outlines for roentgenological diagnosis are reviewed, which are the process of primary infection and cure after acquisition of cellular immunity, the process of reactivation and progress of postprimary pulmonary tuberculosis, and roentgenological characteristics of primary and postprimary pulmonary tuberculosis. The outlines of roentgenological aspects of pulmonary mycobacteriosis due to M. avium complex and M. kansasii are reviewed, which are increasing in Japan.  相似文献
