The effect of 100 ppm addition of phosphorus on primary silicon particle number density per unit area N A and corresponding interparticle spacing is reported for a Bridgman solidified Al-20 wt%Si base alloy. The phosphorus (added as Al-Fe-P base or Al-Cu-P alloys) results in a factor of 3 increase in N A and a factor of 2 reduction in for the range of conditions studied. In its absence the results conform to = 256 ± 24 m (K/s)1/3 where is cooling rate during solidification in good agreement with earlier data. When published data on the effect of 0.02 to 0.2 wt%P are included the combined results are well represented by = 250 – 215 (wt%P)0.17 ( in m, in K/s).  相似文献

The effects of stress rate and stress level on fatigue crack propagation in compression-moulded single-edge notched specimens (0.25 mm in thickness) of polystyrene are reported. Values of the stress rate are obtained from the formula = 2v(maxmax),, wherev is the frequency and max, min are the maximum and minimum stresses of the fatigue cycle. Different levels of are achieved by changing the frequency while keeping max, min at fixed values. The effect of the stress level is investigated by keeping and min constant and varying max andv. The results show that when the kinetic data are plotted as l/t against the energy release rateG 1, a relatively small effect of the stress rate is observed. If the same data are treated as l/N againstG 1, a decrease in l/N with test frequency is seen. The increase in the level of max results in a higher crack speed. The critical crack length is found to be practically the same for all stress-rate experiments. A decrease in the critical crack length is observed with the increase in stress level. Analysis of craze distribution around the crack path shows that the extent of crazing decreases with the increase in stress rate and increases with the increase in stress level. For all experimental conditions, the ratio of the second moment to the square root of the fourth moment of the histograms of craze density along directions normal to the crack path is found to be constant throughout the slow phase of crack propagation. This result supports a self-similarity hypothesis of damage evolution proposed in the crack layer model.  相似文献

This paper reports on electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and optical absorption studies for Mn ions in praseodymium calcium manganese phosphate glasses. The EPR spectra exhibit three resonance signals at g2.0, g3.3 and g4.8. A six line hyperfine structure spectrum centered at g2.0 has been observed in the EPR spectra of all the glasses at lower concentration of Mn ions. The effects of the concentration of Mn ions and praseodymium oxide on resonance signals have been studied. The temperature dependence of EPR signals were also studied. The intensity of the resonance signals decreases with increase in temperature whereas the linewidths are found to be independent of temperature. As temperature is increased small fluctuations in hyperfine splitting are observed. From the optical absorption spectrum, the crystal field parameters and optical band gap energy were evaluated. The optical band gap energy is found to depend quite sensitively on added manganese content. The theoretical values of optical basicity were also evaluated.  相似文献

The effect of antimony on the creep behaviour (dislocation creep) of a 25 wt% Cr-20 wt% Ni stainless steel with ~ 0.005 wt% C was studied with a view to assessing the segregation effect. The antimony content of the steel was varied up to 4000 ppm. The test temperature range was 1153 to 1193 K, the stress range, 9.8 to 49.0 MPa, and the grain-size range, 40 to 600m. The steady state creep rate, , decreases with increasing antimony content, especially in the range of intermediate grain sizes (100 to 300m). Stress drop tests were performed in the secondary creep stages and the results indicate that antimony causes dislocations in the substructure to be immobile, probably by segregating to them, reducing the driving stress for creep.Nomenclature a Creep stress in a constant load creep test without stress-drop - A Initial applied stress in stress-drop tests - Stress decrement - ( A-) Applied stress after a stress decrement, - t i Incubation time after stress drop (by the positive creep) - C Strain-arrest stress - i Internal stress - s s-component (= i- c) - Steady state creep rate (average value) in a constant load creep test - Strain rate at time,t, in a constant load creep test - New steady state creep rate (average value) after stress drop from A to ( A-) - Strain rate at time,t, after stress drop.  相似文献

The details of structure modification on 2/ interface induced by deformation in a hot-deformed Ti-45Al-10Nb alloy were investigated by conventional and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. A new type of dislocation ledge containing 1/3[111] partials was identified. The Burgers vectors of these dislocation ledges were determined to be 1/2[110] or 1/2101]. The formation mechanism of this new type of dislocation ledge is discussed. Also, two types of hot deformation induced 2/ interfaces, coherent interfaces with high density of ledges and misoriented semi-coherent 2/ interfacial boundaries were observed. For the misoriented semi-coherent 2 interfaces, the density of dislocation ledges in these interfaces increases with the misoriented angle between the (111) and (0001) planes, and 1/3[111] partial dislocations were involved in all the dislocation ledges. The formation mechanism of these deformation-induced 2/ interfaces were discussed related to the role of 2/ interfaces adjusting the deformation as a dislocation sink absorbing the slipping dislocations in the phase. Moreover, misoriented semi-coherent 2 interface related deformation twinning and structure transformation induced by deformation were analyzed and discussed related to the role of 2/ interfaces as a dislocation source during deformation.  相似文献

Uncorrected and corrected logarithmic flow-curves for a general purpose polystyrene (MW=261000 and MW/MN=4.4) obtained using a Davenport Extrusion Rheometer are shown for the range 160 to 200° C. The uncorrected flow curves show a change in slope, but at the lower extrusion temperatures this change occurs after the appearance of distorted extrudates. The onset of extrudate distortion obtained from observation does not coincide with the change in slope of the graph. The corrected logarithmic flow curves show no change in slope. Values of and c from both sets of graphs show that is inversely proportional to c, and for the higher melt temperatures the corrected c values increase with temperature. The high value of critical wall stress at 160° C is attributed to the increase in melt elasticity with decreasing temperature being a greater effect than the decrease in elasticity due to a decrease in .  相似文献

The oxidation behavior and thermal stability of Si-C fibers (Hi-Nicalon) in CO-CO2 gas mixtures were investigated at 1773 K, through mass change determination, XRD analysis, resistivity measurement, SEM observation and tensile test. Mass gain and cristobalite formation were observed at 2 × 103 Pa, showing the occurrence of passive-oxidation of the fibers. The active-oxidation, which was characterized by the mass loss, involved the formation of carbon film at 5 × 102 Pa. 65–90% of the strength in the as-received state was retained after the active-oxidation at 102 Pa and after the passive-oxidation at 5 × 104 Pa. Surface imperfections produced very large decrease in tensile strength in the CO2 partial pressure range of 5×102 to 104 Pa.  相似文献

The shear viscosity (T) in the Balian-Werthamer (BW) state of superfluid 3 He is calculated variationally throughout the region 0t 1(t=T/T c) from the transport equation for Bogoliubov quasiparticles. Coherence factors are treated exactly in the calculation of the collision integral. The numerical result for =s= s(T)/n(Tc) agree very well with experiment in the range 0.8t1.0. Analytic expressions = 0.577 (1–1.0008t) and =1–(23/64) [=(T)/k B T] are obtained in the low-temperature region and in the vicinity ofT c, respectively. From the numerical analysis it is shown that the latter equation is valid only in the temperature range 0.9997t1.0.Supported by the Research Institute for Fundamental Physics, Kyoto University.  相似文献

Thermodynamic studies of the non-stoichiometric iron doped beta-alumina (ID) phase were carried out by electrochemical measurements coupled with coulometric titration using the cell Naliq/Li-alumina/ID. Hot pressing and glass sealing techniques were developed and employed to obtain a suitable and stable Li-alumina/ID interface. The equilibrium e.m.f. of the cell was determined as a function of sodium concentration over the temperature range 444 to 523 K. The range of sodium concentrations over which the ID phase is stable was also determined. The relative partial molar thermodynamic quantities of sodium, , , and in ID alumina as a function of sodium concentration were obtained from cell e.m.f. data.  相似文献

The 100, 111 and 110 textures of copper electrodeposits obtained from copper sulfate baths changed to the 100, 100 and textures, respectively, after recrystallization. The textures of chromium electrodeposits obtained from the standard Sargent bath remained unchanged after recrystallization. The results are in agreement with the prediction of the strain energy release maximization model, in which the recrystallized grains orient themselves so that their minimum elastic modulus direction can be parallel to the absolute maximum internal stress direction due to dislocations in the non-recrystallized grains.  相似文献

The total specific heat of YBa2Cu3O6.95 single crystals includes contributions from phonons and spin-1/2 particles, as well as electronic contributions. The electronic specific heat is described by a quadratic term T2 in zero field and a linear term [(0)+(H)]T which is increased when a magnetic field H is applied perpendicular to the CuO2 planes. In agreement with d-wave superconductivity, we find that n/Tc and (H)n(H/Hc2)1/2, where n is the coefficient of the normal-state linear term. The H1/2 dependence of the density of states at the Fermi level was predicted by G. Volovik for lines of nodes in the gap: the quasiparticles which contribute to this density of states are close to the nodes in momentum space and are located outside the vortex core.  相似文献

Statistical analysis of microhardness variations in thermal spray coatings   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
A thermal barrier coating system consisting of a NiCoCrAlY bond coat and cerium-stabilized zirconia ceramic coating was sprayed on to a metallic substrate. Ageing at 400 and 800°C for 100, 500, and 1000 h was performed. Microhardness measurements of as-sprayed and heat-treated samples were used to evaluate microstructural variations throughout the thermally sprayed coating after different ageing conditions. Forty readings were taken at both the bond coat and ceramic coating positions within the thermal barrier coating (TBC) system and adjusted by subtracting the two largest and two smallest readings. Both data sets were statistically analysed to assess whether they belonged to Weibull or Gaussian (or normal) distributions. This study has established that the homogeneity of coatings, at least as measured by a microhardness test, varies during service and, thus, may influence the lifetime.Nomenclature Confidence limit - Mean value - Standard deviation - 2 Variance - Weibull modulus obtained from any method - Characteristic value obtained from any method - CV Coefficient of variation - f(x) Probability density function - F(x) Cumulative density function - i ith order in ascending data set - L Log-likelihood function - m Weibull modulus - n Total number of data points - x Microhardness data - x i Microhardness data which is ith order in ascending data set - x 0 Characteristic value which gives 63.2% cumulative density  相似文献

Numerical and asymptotic solutions are developed to the equations governing large torsional, axisymmetric deformation of rubberlike shells of revolution. The shell equations include large-strain geometric and material nonlinearities, transverse shear deformation, transverse normal stress and strain, and torsion. Both analyses allow ready incorporation of different strain-energy density functions. In the asymptotic analysis, the interior solution corresponds to that of nonlinear membrane theory and contains a primary boundary layer. The edge-zone solution gives a secondary boundary layer that, for large strain, divides into a bending-twisting moment component and a torsional-membrane component. The boundary layer behavior is illustrated for a clamped neo-Hookean cylinder subjected to internal pressure and axial torque.List of symbols Latin symbols a General dependent variable - a (mn) Terms of the asymptotic expansion of a(x) - b Characteristic length - c Scalar curvature components in the normal direction - c , c , , c Cosine of , respectively - C Material constant with units of a Young's modulus - e i Deformed local orthonormal basis associated with (, s, n)(x 1, x 2, x 3) coordinates - Undeformed cylindrical coordinate basis - Intermediate coordinate basis - g Shear correction factor - H Horizontal stress resultants - l 1 Strain invariant - k Scalar curvature components - L Undeformed cylinder length - M Moment resultants - M r, M , M z Moment resultant components in the basis - N Membrane stress resultants - p Internal pressure - p H, p v Horizontal and vertical surface loads, respectively - p i Thickness-averaged surface tractions - Q Transverse shear stress resultants - , r Radial coordinate prior to, after deformation - R Undeformed cylinder radius - , s Meridional coordinate prior to, after deformation - s , s x, , s Sine of , respectively - , S Reference surface prior to, after deformation - S 1, S 2 Shear stress resultants parallel to the reference surface - S 3 Average transverse normal stress resultant - t Undformed shell thickness - T Axial torque - V Vertical stress resultants - w Two-dimensional strain-energy density function - w n Terms in expansion for w - W Three-dimensional strain-energy density function - x Undeformed axial coordinate in cylinder - , z Axial coordinate prior to, after deformation  相似文献

Structural, optical and electrical characteristics of these oligomers have been determined. The optical and electrical properties are dependent on the oligomers' structures. The conductivities of these oligomers are low, between 10 and 10 S m . However, there is an increase after doping them with iodine. These soluble oligomers can be used for production of active components in opto-electronic devices.  相似文献

Summary For a finite solidly rotating cylindrical liquid column the damped natural axisymmetric frequencies have been determined. The liquid was considered incompressible and viscous. The cases of freely slipping edges and that of anchored edges have been treated. It was found that instability appears in a purely aperiodic root for the spinning liquid bridge. This is in contrast to the instability appearing in the damped oscillatory natural frequency of a nonspinning liquid column at . The spinning viscous liquid column exhibits the same instability as the frictionless liquid. It appears at for axisymmetric oscillations.List of symbols a radius of liquid column - I m modified Bessel function of first kind and orderm - s complex frequency ( ) - r, ,z polar cylindrical coordinates - p pressure - t time - u, v, w radial-, azimuthal- and axial velocities of liquid, respectively - Weber number - h height of liquid column - dynamic viscosity of liquid - v kinematic viscosity of liquid (v=/) - density of liquid - surface tension of liquid - r , rz shear stress - (r, z, t) circulation - (r, z, t) streamfunction - 0 angular velocity of liquid column about the axis of symmetry - (,t) free surface displacement  相似文献

Superconducting amorphous alloys with high strength and good ductility have been found in rapidly quenched alloys of the Zr-Nb-Si system. These alloys were produced in a continuous ribbon form of 1 to 2 mm width and 0.02 to 0.03 mm thickness using a modified single roller quenching apparatus. The amorphous alloys were formed over the whole composition range between zirconium and niobium, but the silicon content was limited to the relatively narrow range between about 12 and 24 at%. All the amorphous alloys showed a superconducting transition whose temperature, T c, increased from 2.31 to 4.20 K with increasing niobium content or with decreasing silicon content. The upper critical magnetic field, H c2, and the critical current density, J c, for Zr15Nb70Si15 alloy were of the order of 4.5 Tesla(T) and 5.5×106 A m–2 at 1.5 K in the absence of applied field. The upper critical field gradient at T c, , and the electrical resistivity at 4.2 K, n, decreased from 2.89 to 2.10 T K–1 and from 2.70 to 1.80m, respectively, with the amount of niobium. The Debye temperature, D, the electron-phonon coupling constant, , and the bare density of electronic states at the Fermi level, N(E f ) were calculated from the experimentally measured values of n, , Young's modulus and density by using the strong-coupling theories. From the comparison of T c with their calculated parameters, it was found that is the most dominant parameter for T c. The GL parameter, , and the GL coherence length, GL(0), were estimated to be 70 to 100 and about 7.6 nm, respectively, from the experimental values of and n by using the GLAG theory and hence it is concluded that the present amorphous alloys are an extremely dirty type-II superconductor having a very weak flux pinning force.  相似文献
