We report here the development of two computational tools PCFPS (Photonic Crystal Fiber Parameter Study) and PCFPA (Photonic Crystal Fiber Parameter Analysis), equipped with graphical user interface (GUI) for modeling of photonic crystal fiber. The tools are based on different structural parameters, and they provide characteristic analysis of the modal parameters from the structural parameters. The main feature of PCFPS is that it enables the user to find out the values of each defining modal parameter that has an immense contribution towards the manufacture of photonic crystal fiber. Additionally, PCFPA allows the user to observe the variation in the modal parameters with respect to the changes in structural parameters (such as d, Λ, d/Λ, and λ/>Λ). Besides their ease of use, these two schemes have high computational precision and adaptability, giving a novel platform to optical engineers to modulate the microstructured fibers according to their requirement.  相似文献

In recent years, Internet of Things (IoT) devices are used for remote health monitoring. For remotely monitoring a patient, only the health information at different time points are not sufficient; predicted values of biomarkers (for some future time points) are also important. In this article, we propose a powerful statistical model for an efficient dynamic patient monitoring using wireless sensor nodes through Bayesian Learning (BL). We consider the setting where a set of correlated biomarkers are measured from a patient through wireless sensors, but the sensors only report the ordinal outcomes (say, good, fair, high, or very high) to the sink based on some prefixed thresholds. The challenge is to use the ordinal outcomes for monitoring and predicting the health status of the patient under consideration. We propose a linear mixed model where interbiomarker correlations and intrabiomarker dependence are modeled simultaneously. The estimated and the predicted values of the biomarkers are transferred over the internet so that health care providers and the family members of the patient can remotely monitor the patient. Extensive simulation studies are performed to assess practical usefulness of our proposed joint model, and the performance of the proposed joint model is compared to that of some other traditional models used in the literature.  相似文献

This paper describes a new approach for repairing memories. Repair is implemented by deletion of either rows and/or columns on which faulty cells lie. These devices are commonly referred to as redundant memories, because redundant columns and rows are added. A new repair technique and an algorithm are proposed. The algorithm is based on a fault-counting technique and on a reduced-covering approach. The innovative feature is that reduced covering permits an heuristic, but efficient, criterion to be included in the selection of the rows and/or columns to be deleted. This retains independence of the repair process on the distribution of faulty cells in memory, while allowing a good repairability/ unrepairability detection. The main benefits that result by using the proposed repair algorithm are a reduction in execution time to determine the repair-solution for the device under test and its suitability for implementation in a defect analysis system. Illustrative examples and theoretical results are provided to substantiate the validity of the proposed repair technique  相似文献

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of seven single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in Calpain 1 and Calpastatin genes previously associated with meat tenderness attributes in other cattle breeds in Korean Hanwoo cattle. The Hanwoo resource population was used to study association of 7 SNPs with beef tenderness, flavor, juiciness, intramuscular fat and shear force. In this association study, CAST:c.182A > G (+ 0.14, P = 0.04) and CAST:c.1985G > C (− 0.12, P = 0.02) had significant effects on juiciness, but no effects on other traits. In contrast, CAPN1:c.1589G > A was associated with meat tenderness (P = 0.01) and juiciness (P = 0.04). The CAPN1:c.1589G > A (Val530Ile) SNP marker displayed significant effect on the meat tenderness score which is strongly supported by molecular modeling of the CAPN1:c.1589G > A (Val530Ile) variant that inhibits CAST protein from binding more strongly than the wild-type protein, which may explain its effect on meat tenderness.  相似文献

The expression ratio between the analysed gene and an internal control gene is the most widely used normalization method for quantitative RT-PCR (qRT-PCR) expression analysis. The ideal reference gene for a specific experiment is the one whose expression is not affected by the different experimental conditions tested. In this study, we validate the applicability of five commonly used reference genes during different stages of mouse lung development. The stability of expression of five different reference genes (Tuba1a, Actb Gapdh, Rn18S and Hist4h4) was calculated within five experimental groups using the statistical algorithm of geNorm software. Overall, Tuba1a showed the least variability in expression among the different stages of lung development, while Hist4h4 and Rn18S showed the maximum variability in their expression. Expression analysis of two lung specific markers, surfactant protein C (SftpC) and Clara cell-specific 10 kDA protein (Scgb1a1), normalized to each of the five reference genes tested here, confirmed our results and showed that incorrect reference gene choice can lead to artefacts. Moreover, a combination of two internal controls for normalization of expression analysis during lung development will increase the accuracy and reliability of results.  相似文献

Well-defined poly(n-docosyl acrylate) (PDA) with narrow molecular weight distribution has been synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and reverse ATRP of n-docosyl acrylate (DA) at 80 °C in N,N-dimethylformamide using the carbon tetrabromide/FeCl3/2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) initiation system in the presence of 2,2′-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as the source of reducing agent. The rates of polymerization for both the systems exhibit first-order kinetics with respect to the monomer, however, peroxide-initiated system shows slow rate of polymerization as compared to the azo-system. The effect of various reaction parameters on number average molecular weight (M n ) and molecular weight distribution (M w/M n ) have been investigated. The resulting PDA that obtained in presence of AIBN and BPO systems has been compared for both the conventional and reverse ATRP. The reverse ATRP initiated by peroxides behaves differently than that of the azo initiators. In reverse ATRP with BPO, the rate of polymerization (R p) has been significantly increased with the increase of BPO resulting higher M n and broader M w/M n . The reverse ATRP of DA did not exhibit living characteristics with BPO system. PDA has been characterized by GPC, FTIR, and NMR spectroscopy.  相似文献

The influence of Hf, Pr and Tb dopant cations on structural and catalytic properties of nanosized CexZr1?xO2 solid solutions has been investigated. A wide range of analytical techniques are utilized to characterize the synthesized materials, and the catalytic activity is evaluated for CO oxidation. XRD, Raman, SEM and TEM results suggested formation of dopant cation incorporated ceria–zirconia solid solutions with highly homogeneous morphology and lattice defects. The CO-TPR measurements revealed an enhanced reducibility of CexZr1?xO2 which is reflected in their better catalytic activity. The role of Tb4+/Tb3+ and Pr4+/Pr3+ redox couples in facilitating a higher activity has been addressed.  相似文献

This is a very first preliminary investigation on the distribution of heterogeneous nature of mineral matter in one of the industrially important Assam (India) pulverized coal using computer-controlled scanning electron microscopy (CCSEM). The results show that clay minerals, quartz, pyrite, and pyrrhotite form the bulk of the mineral matter. Minor minerals, such as calcite, dolomite, ankerite, barite, oxidized pyrrhotite, and gypsum, are also observed in the sample. The particle size distribution (PSD) of the included minerals is generally observed to be finer than that of the excluded ones in the coal. As a consequence, the coal rich in included minerals has more small mineral particles, which may affect its reactivity. Regarding the association of individual mineral species, the proportion of included to excluded is found to be higher in major cases. With regard to the modes of occurrence of major inorganic elements, it is found that Si mostly occurs as quartz and clay minerals, while Al mostly occurs as silicate minerals. Fe is primarily present as iron sulfides, iron oxide, and Fe-Al-silicate. S is partitioned into iron sulfides and gypsum. Most Ca occurs as carbonates and gypsum, with a minor fraction associated with clay minerals. Mg is mainly present as dolomite and clay minerals, with a very minor fraction present as ankerite. The majority of alkali elements are associated with aluminosilicates. P is mostly associated with kaolinite and/or present as more complex compounds containing Al, Si, and other elements as apatite is found to be absent in the coal studied. Ti is mainly present as rutile and kaolinite.  相似文献
