The present status and research trends in light sources, detectors, and various optical components are described, focusing mainly on those for single-mode fiber systems. Laser-diode and light-emitting-diode sources are described, and their problems and advantages are examined. The features of optical detectors, namely, avalanche and p-i-n photodiodes are discussed. A method of comparing the performance of optical receivers with different detectors, by examining the minimum detectable power at a specified error probability for the received pulses, is presented. Optical components such as optical filters, couplers, dividers, isolators, connectors, and switches are considered briefly. The potential of optoelectronic integrated circuits is discussed  相似文献

The propagation and dispersion characteristics of picosecond electrical pulses in a suspended coplanar waveguide (SCPW) are investigated, and it is shown that the SCPW is a very promising transmission structure for ultrashort pulses. Numerical results for the modal dispersion of the SCPW are presented and compared to those of the conventional CPW, and a field-coupling theory is used to explain the evolution in the dispersion behavior. An evaluation based on the numerical analysis shows that a SCPW with properly controlled dispersion can exhibit a five times improvement in pulse transmission capability compared to the conventional CPW. Both computer simulations and experimental measurements show a substantial suppression in pulse distortion as well, compared to conventional CPWs  相似文献

Our purpose was to use small-angle X-ray diffraction to investigate the structural changes within sarcomeres at steady-state isometric contraction following active lengthening and shortening, compared to purely isometric contractions performed at the same final lengths. We examined force, stiffness, and the 1,0 and 1,1 equatorial and M3 and M6 meridional reflections in skinned rabbit psoas bundles, at steady-state isometric contraction following active lengthening to a sarcomere length of 3.0 µm (15.4% initial bundle length at 7.7% bundle length/s), and active shortening to a sarcomere length of 2.6 µm (15.4% bundle length at 7.7% bundle length/s), and during purely isometric reference contractions at the corresponding sarcomere lengths. Compared to the reference contraction, the isometric contraction after active lengthening was associated with an increase in force (i.e., residual force enhancement) and M3 spacing, no change in stiffness and the intensity ratio I1,1/I1,0, and decreased lattice spacing and M3 intensity. Compared to the reference contraction, the isometric contraction after active shortening resulted in decreased force, stiffness, I1,1/I1,0, M3 and M6 spacings, and M3 intensity. This suggests that residual force enhancement is achieved without an increase in the proportion of attached cross-bridges, and that force depression is accompanied by a decrease in the proportion of attached cross-bridges. Furthermore, the steady-state isometric contraction following active lengthening and shortening is accompanied by an increase in cross-bridge dispersion and/or a change in the cross-bridge conformation compared to the reference contractions.  相似文献

Evaluation of sustainable residential energy system is complex process, in which not only the economic aspect, but also the energetic and environmental effects should be taken into consideration. In this paper, an integrated design and evaluation model has been developed, by combing linear programming and multi-criteria evaluation method, in order to determine the optimal residential energy system while considering different types of information. As an illustrative example, an investigation is conducted for a typical residential building in Kitakyushu, Japan. A set of residential energy alternatives, including both conventional energy and renewable energy applications, are assumed for adoption. Based on the optimal design results from the linear programming, the various alternatives have been assessed against economic, energetic and environmental criteria. According to the evaluation results, currently, renewable energy systems are not competitive unless strong attention is paid to the environmental benefits. All electric system may be a transitional consideration before reaching an actual low carbon residential energy system. Furthermore, the evaluation result is greatly influenced by the criteria priority, as well as the evaluation method.  相似文献

The location of the egocenter in kinesthetic space was investigated in 4 experiments. Participants, with their eyes closed, adjusted a comparison stimulus after or while touching a standard in a transverse plane at the belly or shoulder level so that they perceived the line joining the comparison and the fixed standard as pointing directly at themselves. The mean location of the intersections of the obtained lines was taken as the location of the egocenter. The main results showed that the location of the kinesthetic egocenter depended on the hand or hands used for touching, the timing of touching, and the distance of the standard from the participant. In this study, based on the consideration of achieving a low-carbon city, a distributed energy system is promoted by integrating combined heat and power (CHP) plant, biomass energy and photovoltaic technology, for the urban areas in China. An analytical model has been developed for estimating an economically efficient installation and operation pattern for the distributed energy system. As an illustrative example, a numerical study is conducted of feasible distributed energy system for a model area in Shanghai, while considering five scenarios with different technology combinations. According to the simulation results, although enjoying reasonable environmental merits, it is hard to diffuse the distributed generation technologies, especially some renewable ones, in the model area from the economic point of view. Currently, the most feasible technology is the natural gas CHP system, which has a cost reduction ratio of only 0.7%. In addition, the sensitivity analyses illustrate that the introduction of electricity buy-back and the reduction of biogas price can promote the adoption of some renewable technologies to some extent.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

It is important to perform neutron transport simulations with accurate nuclear data in the neutronics design of a fusion reactor. However, absolute values of large-angle scattering cross sections vary among nuclear data libraries even for well-examined nuclide of iron. Benchmark experiments focusing on large-angle scattering cross sections were thus performed to confirm the correctness of nuclear data libraries. The series benchmark experiments were performed at a DT neutron source facility, OKTAVIAN of Osaka University, Japan, by the unique experimental system established by the authors’ group, which can extract only the contribution of large-angle scattering reactions. This system consists of two shadow bars, target plate (iron), and neutron detector (niobium). Two types of shadow bars were used and four irradiations were conducted for one experiment, so that contribution of room-return neutrons was effectively removed and only large-angle scattering neutrons were extracted from the measured four Nb reaction rates. The obtained experimental results were compared with calculations for five nuclear data libraries including JENDL-4.0, JEFF.-3.3, FENDL-3.1, ENDF/B- VII, and recently released ENDF/B-VIII. It was found from the comparison that ENDF/B-VIII showed the best result, though ENDF/B-VII showed overestimation and others are in large underestimation at 14 MeV.  相似文献
