An analysis of tuber roots yield and nutritional characteristics for 10 lines of jícama (Polymnia sonchifolia Poepp et Endl.) was carried out under the environmental conditions of Santa Catalina Experimental Station (12 degrees C of temperature and 3,100 m above sea level). The following average mean values were obtained: A fresh tuber root's yield from 29,755 to 73,558 kg/ha with 41,547 kg/ha of average, while the yield of the useful part (roots without skin) was from 24,309 to 60,097 kg/ha with 33,944 kg/ha of average. On the other hand, average mean values of 3.7% of protein, 3.5% ashes, 1.5% fat, 3.4% fiber, 2.2% potassium, 0.12% phosphorus, 96 micrograms/100 g iron, and 390 micrograms/100 g zinc, were obtained from the edible root samples. Besides, we obtained average values of 2.47, 2.12, 1.63 and 2.51 g/100 g of fructose, alfa glucose, beta glucose and saccharose, respectively, on edible root samples with skin, for the 10 lines studied. The wet air oxidation of phenol over a commercial active carbon catalyst was studied in a trickle bed reactor (TBR) in the temperature and oxygen partial pressure ranges of 120–160 °C and 0.1–0.2 MPa, respectively. The performance of the active carbon was compared in terms of phenol and COD destruction. The weight change of active carbon due to reaction was also measured. Finally, oxic phenol adsorption isotherms were assessed in batch conditions at 25, 125 and 160 °C. In order to use the conversion data obtained from the TBR for a kinetic study, special care was taken to check the kinetic control in the TBR experiments. Several kinetic models including power law or Langmuir–Hinshelwood expressions were considered to describe the catalytic oxidation of phenol over active carbon. The simple power law model with first order dependence on both phenol and oxygen concentration predicted satisfactorily the experimental data not only over the entire range of operating conditions studied, but also outside its validity range. Cable supported bridges are wind prone structures. Therefore, their aerodynamic behaviour must be studied in depth in order
to guarantee their safe performance. In the last decades important achievements have been reached in the study of bridges
under wind-induced actions. On the other hand, non-conventional design techniques such as sensitivity analysis or optimum
design have not been applied although they have proved their feasibility in the automobile or aeronautic industries. The aim
of this research work is to demonstrate how non-conventional design techniques can help designers when dealing with long span
bridges considering their aeroelastic behaviour. In that respect, the comprehensive analytical optimum design problem formulation
is presented. In the application example the optimum design of the challenging Messina Strait Bridge is carried out. The chosen
initial design has been the year 2002 design proposal. Up to a 33% deck material saving has been obtained after finishing

This study presents new software, called Google Earth-based Optimal HAulage RouTing System (GEOHARTS), to improve the functionality of Google Earth for optimal haulage routing of off-road dump trucks in construction and mining sites. A modified least-cost path algorithm, which is applicable to working areas with both paved and unpaved temporary roads and can consider the effects of terrain relief and curves along a route on the route planning, was proposed and utilized for the software development. GEOHARTS can determine optimal haulage routes between loaders and dumps that ensure the least travel time or fuel consumption of off-road dump trucks and can visualize the results using an embedded 3D render window of Google Earth. The application to the Pasir open-pit coal mine in Indonesia demonstrates that GEOHARTS could provide a rational solution to support the truck haulage operations. 相似文献

This paper deals with the relation between segmentation for coding and rate control. The efficiency of a segmentation-based coding scheme heavily relies on this step that defines how many and which regions have to be segmented. In this paper, we show that this problem can be formulated as a rate/distortion problem. The proposed solution not only controls the segmentation, but also defines the coding strategy to be used in each region. The effect of an allelopathic compound, diacetyl-piquerol on the H+ -ATPase activity of the microsomal fraction from the radicles of a common weedIpomoea purpurea was studied. The diacetyl-piquerol inhibited the germination and radicle growth fromI. purpurea; the radicle growth was increasingly inhibited (10% to 100%) as piquerol concentrations were raised (10 M to 1000 M). The H+-ATPase activity was inhibited (48%) by 500 M diacetyl-piquerol, and this inhibition was higher in plasma membrane ATPase (67.2%) than in tonoplast membrane ATPase (31.4%). The effect of including distilled rosemary leaf in the diet of pregnant ewes on subsequent lamb meat quality was studied. Thirty-six Segureña ewes were randomly assigned to three homogeneous groups. One group was fed a basal diet (BD) as control while the diet of the other two groups was modified by substituting 10% (R1) and 20% (R2) of the BD with a pellet made from 50% barley and 50% of distilled rosemary leaves (DRL). Meat spoilage (TVC, PSY and MYC), TBARS, CIELab coordinates and the sensory characteristics contribution of fresh lamb meat packed in MAP (70% O2:30% CO2) were analyzed on days 0, 7, 14 and 21. In general, R1 and R2 had higher a* values, better scores for meat and fat colour (P < 0.05) and lower TBARS and rancid odour (P < 0.05), than the control samples. The total viable count was lower in meat DRL. No statistically significant differences were detected between the two treatments (10–20% DRL). 相似文献

The aim was to study spoilage during the refrigerated storage of cooked pork loin processed by the sous vide method. Samples were packaged under vacuum into polyamide-polypropylene pouches, cooked at an oven temperature/time of 70 °C/12 h, chilled at 3 °C and stored at 2 °C for 0, 5 or 10 weeks. Microbial (psychrotrophs, lactic acid bacteria, Enterobacteriaceae, moulds and yeasts), physical–chemical (pH, water activity, TBARS, acidity, L*a*b* colour, texture profile analysis and shear force) and sensory (appearance, odour, flavour, texture and acceptance) parameters were determined. The results showed that sensory spoilage preceded microbiological spoilage of sous vide pork loin. Counts bellow 1 log cfu/g of psychrotrophs, anaerobic psychrotrophs, Enterobacteriaceae and lactic acid bacteria were detected in any control week, while moderate counts (2–3 log cfu/g) of moulds and yeasts were found. Minor changes in water activity, lipid oxidation, CIELab colour, hardness, cohesiveness or gumminess were associated with spoilage of pork loin, only decreases of lactic acid, springiness and shear force were observed. The pork loin was unacceptable after 10 weeks. This loss of acceptance was mainly due to the deterioration of meaty flavour and odour, although the loss of appearance, juiciness and firmness also contributed. Moderate warmed-over and rancidity were detected. The sensory analysis was the most effective method for determining the shelf life of the sous vide pork-based dishes. 相似文献
