Analytic expressions are derived for the angular acceptance function of two-dimensional compound parabolic concentrator solar collectors (CPC's) of arbitrary degree of truncation. Taking into account the effect of truncation on both optical and thermal losses in real collectors, we also evaluate the increase in monthly and yearly collectible energy. Prior analyses that have ignored the correct behavior of the angular acceptance function at large angles for truncated collectors are shown to be in error by 0–2% in calculations of yearly collectible energy for stationary collectors. 相似文献

This study reports the establishment of alpha-amylase-producing human parotid pleomorphic adenoma cell lines (2HP and 2HP1) which have been maintained in culture for over 1 yr. The procedures required preparation of cellular clumps from tumor tissue and plating them on plasma clot or precoated dishes. During the initial phase of growth they required modified MCDB-153 medium without serum. When cells showed signs of degeneration they were changed to MCDB-153 medium containing first 2% and then 10% heat inactivated fetal bovine serum. Although cells grew well in MCDB-153 containing 10% serum, the epithelial cell morphology was not distinct. Therefore, the growth and morphology of cells grown in MCDB-10% serum were compared with those in RPMI growth medium containing 10% fetal bovine serum and F12 containing 10% agammaglobulin newborn bovine serum. Although the growth of cells was a little slower in F12 medium than those in MCDB and RPMI, the epithelial cell morphology was maintained better than in other growth media. The cells of 2HP and 2HP1 produce low levels of alpha-amylase and relatively high levels of alpha-amylase mRNAs of 1176 and 702 bp and contain neurofilament-160, a neuronal-specific marker. The cells of 2HP1 are tumorigenic when tested in athymic mice, but the cells of 2HP are not. The establishment of amylase-producing human parotid adenoma cell lines of different characteristics in culture provides a new opportunity to study the mechanisms of differentiation and transformation, and regulation of alpha-amylase in these cells. 相似文献

The range of validity of the Rayleigh-Debye-Gans approximation for the optical cross sections of fractal aggregates (RDG-FA) that are formed by uniform small particles was evaluated in comparison with the integral equation formulation for scattering (IEFS), which accounts for the effects of multiple scattering and self-interaction. Numerical simulations were performed to create aggregates that exhibit mass fractallike characteristics with a wide range of particle and aggregate sizes and morphologies, including x(p) = 0.01-1.0, ‖m - 1‖ = 0.1-2.0, N = 16-256, and D(f) = 1.0-3.0. The percent differences between both scattering theories were presented as error contour charts in the ‖m - 1‖x(p) domains for various size aggregates, emphasizing fractal properties representative of diffusion-limited cluster-cluster aggregation. These charts conveniently identified the regions in which the differences were less than 10%, between 10% and 30%, and more than 30% for easy to use general guidelines for suitability of the RDG-FA theory in any scattering applications of interest, such as laser-based particulate diagnostics. Various types of aggregate geometry ranging from straight chains (D(f) ≈ 1.0) to compact clusters (D(f) ≈ 3.0) were also considered for generalization of the findings. For the present computational conditions, the RDG-FA theory yielded accurate predictions to within 10% for ‖m - 1‖ to approximately 1 or more as long as the primary particles in aggregates were within the Rayleigh scattering limit (x(p) ≤ 0.3). Additionally, the effect of fractal dimension on the performance of the RDG-FA was generally found to be insignificant. The results suggested that the RDG-FA theory is a reasonable approximation for optics of a wide range of fractal aggregates, considerably extending its domain of applicability. 相似文献

Summary We assessed the contribution of Brazilian limnologists (freshwater ecologists) in international journals in the period 1970-2004.
Brazilian contribution was low and regular in the 1970's, but increased steeply after 1980 with no signs of stabilization
until the present. Articles authored by Brazilians tend to be less cited than articles authored by non-Brazilians, although
this difference is reduced in co-authored articles with international researchers. Brazilian articles are not distributed
homogenously among the sub-areas of Limnology, but present some biases that can be explained by intellectual legacy. Brazil
has invested since the 1970's in establishing postgraduate courses in Brazil and in the last years has turned the focus to
a better qualification of these courses. We believe these are the main reasons for the conspicuous development of Brazilian

Three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting is an innovative technology in the biomedical field, allowing the fabrication of living constructs through an approach of layer-by-layer deposition of cell-laden inks, the so-called bioinks. An ideal bioink should possess proper mechanical, rheological, chemical, and biological characteristics to ensure high cell viability and the production of tissue constructs with dimensional stability and shape fidelity. Among the several types of bioinks, hydrogels are extremely appealing as they have many similarities with the extracellular matrix, providing a highly hydrated environment for cell proliferation and tunability in terms of mechanical and rheological properties. Hydrogels derived from natural polymers, and polysaccharides, in particular, are an excellent platform to mimic the extracellular matrix, given their low cytotoxicity, high hydrophilicity, and diversity of structures. In fact, polysaccharide-based hydrogels are trendy materials for 3D bioprinting since they are abundant and combine adequate physicochemical and biomimetic features for the development of novel bioinks. Thus, this review portrays the most relevant advances in polysaccharide-based hydrogel bioinks for 3D bioprinting, focusing on the last five years, with emphasis on their properties, advantages, and limitations, considering polysaccharide families classified according to their source, namely from seaweed, higher plants, microbial, and animal (particularly crustaceans) origin. 相似文献

The IEEE 802.16 standard for wireless broadband networks includes the mesh mode in its specifications, where network nodes interact to deliver packets from a client to a remote destination through intermediate nodes. This paper presents a study of the capacity of IEEE 802.16 wireless networks in mesh mode by using M/G/1/L queuing model that represents each network node by incorporating the features of the standard in order to calculate the average delay and throughput in the node. An iterative method integrates the calculation results at each node, obtaining the end‐to‐end delay from any node of the mesh to the Base Station. Because of multiple hops, a node far from the Base Station may have its flows damaged. To minimize this problem, we propose a criterion for a fair distribution of resources. In this paper, devices to devices communications underlaying cellular network techniques are proposed as an alternative to maximize spectral efficiency. This gain is obtained by the reuse of spectrum when different links are simultaneously established using the same resources. The cost of this technique is additional interference in cellular networks. The techniques presented in this paper propose a coordinated power control mechanism to allow resource sharing with low impact on cellular subscribers. Solutions are addressed for both OFDMA and WCDMA networks taking into account the unique requirements of both networks. In both situations, WCDMA–OFDMA coexistence is exploited and analyzed, using the nature of WCDMA spectrum and its robustness against narrowband interference thereby improving the probability of obtaining the sharing of cellular resources. For OFDM networks, WCDMA is used for mitigating the interference of cellular users and to obtain considerable gain in probability of reuse. For WCDMA networks, OFDMA is used to obtain higher throughput using the side frequencies of the spectrum where the cellular signal power is lower compared to the central frequencies. 相似文献

We investigated the influence of the growth rate on the quality of zero-net-strained InGaAsP/InGaAsP/InP multiquantum well
structures for 1.55 μm emission grown by low pressure metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. The samples consisted of fixed compressive
strained wells (ɛ=+1%) and tensile strained barriers (ɛ=−0.5%) grown with different quaternary bandgap wavelengths (λB=1.1–1.4 μm). Using higher growth rates, we obtained for the first time high quality zero net strained multi quantum well
structures, regardless having constant group V composition in the well and barriers. The samples were analyzed by x-ray diffraction,
photoluminescence and atomic force microscopy techniques. The amplitude of surface modulation roughness along [011] direction
decreased from 20 nm to 0.53 nm with increasing growth rate and/or quaternary compositions grown outside the miscibility gap.
A new deep PL broad emission band strongly correlated with the onset of wavy layer growth is also reported. Broad area and
ridge waveguide lasers with 10 wells exhibited low losses (34 cm−1) and low threshold current densities at infinite cavity length (1020 A·cm−2 and 1190 A·cm−2, respectively). 相似文献
