With the recent developments in wearable augmented reality (AR), the role of natural human–computer interaction is becoming more important. Utilization of auxiliary hardware for interaction introduces extra complexity, weight and cost to wearable AR systems and natural means of interaction such as gestures are therefore more desirable. In this paper, we present a novel multi-cue hand detection and tracking method for head-mounted AR systems which combines depth, color, intensity and curvilinearity. The combination of different cues increases the detection rate, eliminates the background regions and therefore increases the tracking performance under challenging conditions. Detected hand positions and the trajectories are used to perform actions such as click, select, etc. Moreover, the 6 DOF poses of the hands are calculated by approximating the segmented regions with planes in order to render a planar menu (interface) around the hand and use the hand as a planar selection tool. The proposed system is tested on different scenarios (including markers for reference) and the results show that our system can detect and track the hands successfully in challenging conditions such as cluttered and dynamic environments and illumination variance. The proposed hand tracker outperforms other well-known hand trackers under these conditions.  相似文献

A multistep imprinting process is presented for the fabrication of a bottom-contact, bottom-gate thin-film transistor (TFT) on poly(ethylene naphthalate) (PEN) foil by patterning all layers of the metal–insulator–metal stack by UV nanoimprint lithography (UV NIL). The flexible TFTs were fabricated on a planarization layer, patterned in a novel way by UV NIL, on a foil reversibly glued to a Si carrier. This planarization step enhances the dimensional stability and flatness of the foil and thus results in a thinner and more homogeneous residual layer. The fabricated TFTs have been electrically characterized as demonstrators of the here developed fully UV NIL-based patterning process on PEN foil, and compared to TFTs made on Si with the same process. TFTs with channel lengths from 5 μm down to 250 nm have been fabricated on Si and PEN foil, showing channel length-dependent charge carrier mobilities, μ, in the range of 0.06–0.92 cm2 V−1 s−1 on Si and of 0.16–0.56 cm2 V−1 s−1 on PEN foil.  相似文献

Municipalities can form a driving force behind the deployment of new telecom infrastructure. While a telecom operator focuses on direct (financial) profits, a municipality is mainly interested in the social benefits for its inhabitants. In this paper, we evaluate a wireless municipality network from both a technical and an economic point of view. WiFi and WiMAX are considered as the most suited technologies for this purpose. A detailed techno-economic study has been performed including forecasting of the user adoption, dimensioning of the wireless network and modelling the related costs and revenues. The trade-off between installing a high number of relatively cheap WiFi access points, and a smaller number of more expensive WiMAX base stations for delivering full coverage is investigated in several scenarios.

Microprocessor-based signal processing equipment for frequencies up to 20 kHz have become compact and fast enough to allow direct on-line real-time analysis on power systems to determine behavior. A case study is presented for a small steelworks operating a 25-MVA open arc furnace, installing 6.5 MVA of thyristor control equipment and further power factor correcting equipment and harmonic filters on a system with ill-defined parameters, low short- circuit capacity, and already containing power factor correcting capacitors tuned at the third harmonic. Discrete spectrum analysis equipment, microprocessor-based and coupled via IEEE-bus to a microcomputer system, was used to do on-line analysis at various points in the system. The high-speed system enabled sophisticated signal processing to yield even and uneven harmonics, stochastic components, system parameters and resonances and mutual interference. It is shown how this is used to rectify problems in the system, adapt equipment, and design power factor and filter equipment.  相似文献

The current study set out to investigate to what extent ISIS is bolstering its jihadist ideology on a ‘cut-and-paste’ or ‘cherry-picked’ version of Islam in their renowned online propaganda magazine Dabiq. The main objective was to examine in a systematic and quantitative way to what extent ISIS utilizes the Koran in an atomistic, truncated and tailored manner to bolster its religious legitimacy. A total of 15 issues of Dabiq and 700 Koranic references were scrutinized. By means of a quantitative analysis we developed an innovative taxonomy of Koranic chapters and verses (i.e. surahs and ayat, respectively) on the basis of their appearance in Dabiq. Our large-scale data analysis provide consistent empirical evidence for severe decontextualization practices of the Koran in three ways: (1) a thin, Medinan-dominated religious layer, (2) ayah mutilation, and (3) clustered versus exclusive mentions. Limitations and implications for future research, policy makers and CVE initiatives are discussed.  相似文献

An attempt has been made to hide the false edges perceived at block borders in DCT-coded image sequences. The standard H.261 codec is extended by simple pre- and postprocessing: shifting the input image over small pseudo-random horizontal and vertical distances and shifting back the output image by the same amount. A subjective comparison by a panel of 20 observers has established a quality improvement for interframe coding, if both the current image and the previous image are subjected to the same shift. Masking the block borders by adding a time-invariant noise image to the output is found to be a desirable option.  相似文献
