The purpose of this paper is to evaluate two methods of assessing the productivity and quality impact of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) and Fourth Generation Language (4GL) technologies: (1) by the retrospective method; and (2) the cross-sectional method. Both methods involve the use of questionnaire surveys. Developers' perceptions depend on the context in which they are expressed and this includes expectations about the effectiveness of a given software product. Consequently, it is generally not reliable to base inferences about the relative merits of CASE and 4GLs on a cross-sectional comparison of two separate samples of users. The retrospective method that requires each respondent to directly compare different products is shown to be more reliable. However, there may be scope to employ cross-sectional comparisons of the findings from different samples where both sets of respondents use the same reference point for their judgements, and where numerical rather than verbal rating scales are used to measure perceptions. 相似文献

This study empirically examined the organisational learning effects of the nonfinancial performance information provided by management accounting information systems (MAISs) under advanced manufacturing technology (AMT). In this study, a target costing system and the frequent and quick reporting of information were considered the facilitators of learning. First, we examined the relationships between AMT level and the amount of nonfinancial performance information produced by MAISs. The empirical results showed that there are significant positive relationships between the level of AMT and nonfinancial performance information. With a systems approach, we also proved the impact of the relationships among AMT levels, nonfinancial performance information and learning facilitators on the organisational performance of a firm. The results of our research suggest that under a high level of AMT, for the provision of information to result in an increase of performance through organisational learning, a target costing system must be introduced and a large amount of information should be provided frequently and quickly. The results of this study also showed that although AMT level may be low, fairly well-arranged facilitators and a moderately large amount of information may be necessary for the improvement of performance. Application-level performance is a key to the adoption and success of the CDMA 2000. To predict this performance in advance,
a detailed end-to-end simulation model of a CDMA network is built to include application traffic characteristics, network
architecture, network element details using the proposed simulation methodology. We assess the user-perceived application
performance when a RAN and a CN adopt different transport architectures such as ATM and IP. To evaluate the user-perceived
quality of voice service, we compare the end-to-end packet delay for different vocoder schemes such as G.711, G.726 (PCM),
G.726 (ADPCM), and vocoder bypass scheme. By the simulation results, the vocoder bypass scenario shows 30% performance improvement
over the others. We also compare the quality of voice service with and without DPS scheduling scheme. We know that DPS scheme
keep the voice delay bound even if the service traffic is high. For data packet performance, HTTP v.1.1 shows better performance
than that of HTTP v.1.0 due to the pipelining and TCP persistent connection. We may conclude that IP transport technology
is better solution for higher FER environment since the packet overhead of IP is smaller than that of ATM for web browsing
data traffic, while it shows opposite effect to the small size voice packet in RAN architecture. We show that the 3G-1X EV-DO
system gives much better packet delay performance than 3G-1X RTT. The main conclusion is that end-to-end application-level
performance is affected by various elements and layers of the network and thus it must be considered in all phases of the
development process.
Jae-Hyun Kim He received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees, all in computer science and engineering, from Hanyang University, Ansan, Korea,
in 1991, 1993, and 1996 respectively. In 1996, he was with the Communication Research Laboratory, Tokyo, Japan, as a Visiting
Scholar. From April 1997 to October 1998, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the department of electrical engineering, University
of California, Los Angeles. From November 1998 to February 2003, he worked as a member of technical staff in Performance Modeling
and QoS management department, Bell laboratories, Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, NJ. He has been with the department of electrical
engineering, Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, as an assistant professor since 2003. His research interests include QoS issues
and cross layer optimization for high-speed wireless communication. Dr. Kim was the recipient of the LGIC Thesis Prize and
Samsung Human-Tech Thesis Prize in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He is a member of the Korean Institute of Communication Sciences
(KICS), Korea Institute of Telematics and Electronis (KITE), Korea Information Science Society (KISS), and IEEE.
Hyun-Jin Lee received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, in 2004, and is working toward the
M.S. degree and Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering at Ajou University. He has been awarded Samsung Human-Tech Thesis
Prize in 2004. His research interests QoS, especially network optimization and wireless packet scheduling. He is a member
of the KICS.
Sung-Min Oh received the B.S. and M. S. degrees in electrical engineering form Ajou University, Suwon, Korea, in 2004, and is working
toward the Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering at Ajou University. His research interests QoS performance analysis and
4G network. He is a member of the KICS.
Sung-Hyun Cho received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in computer science and engineering from Hanyang University, Korea, in 1995, 1997, and
2001, respectively. From 2001 to 2005, he has been with Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, where he has been engaged
in the design and standardization of MAC and upper layers of B3G, IEEE 802.16e, and WiBro systems. He is currently a MAC part

Kommunikation zwischen diesen Personen durch zielgruppenspezifische verst?ndliche graphische Visualisierungen zu unterstützen,
die Gesch?fts- und Informatik-Aspekte gleicherma?en berücksichtigen, und die speziell für langfristige und strategische Management-Betrachtungen
geeignet sind.
In diesem Beitrag fassen wir zun?chst die in der betrieblichen Praxis wohlbekannten Probleme beim Management von Anwendungslandschaften
zusammen und diagnostizieren erhebliche Kommunikationsdefizite. Da Anwendungslandschaften als Systeme von Systemen mit Menschen
als integrale Systembestandteile zu verstehen sind, werden Karten als attraktiver L?sungsansatz identifiziert und die wesentlichen

Mate selection plays a crucial role in both natural and artificial systems. While traditional Evolutionary Algorithms (EA)
usually engage in random mating strategies, that is, mating chance is independent of genotypic or phenotypic distance between
individuals, in natural systems non-random mating is common, which means that somehow this mechanism has been favored during
the evolutionary process. In non-random mating, the individuals mate according to their parenthood or likeness. Previous studies
indicate that negative assortative mating (AM)—also known as dissortative mating—, which is a specific type of non-random mating, may improve EAs performance by maintaining the genetic diversity of the
population at a higher level during the search process. In this paper we present the Variable Dissortative Mating Genetic Algorithm (VDMGA). The algorithm holds a mechanism that varies the GA’s mating restrictions during the run by means of simple rule
based on the number of chromosomes created in each generation and indirectly influenced by the genetic diversity of the population.
We compare VDMGA not only with traditional Genetic Algorithms (GA) but also with two preceding non-random mating EAs: the
CHC algorithm and the negative Assortative Mating Genetic Algorithm (nAMGA). We intend to study the effects of the different methods in the performance of GAs and verify the reliability of
the proposed algorithm when facing an heterogeneous set of landscapes. In addition, we include the positive Assortative Mating Genetic Algorithm (pAMGA) in the experiments in order test both negative and positive AM mechanisms, and try to understand if and when negative
AM (or DM) speeds up the search process or enables the GAs to escape local optima traps. For these purposes, an extensive
set of optimization test problems was chosen to cover a variety of search landscapes with different characteristics. Our results
confirm that negative AM is effective in leading EAs out of local optima traps, and show that the proposed VDMGA is at least
as efficient as nAMGA when applied to the range of our problems, being more efficient in very hard functions were traditional
GAs usually fail to escape local optima. Also, scalability tests have been made that show VDMGA ability to decrease optimal
population size, thus reducing the amount of evaluations needed to attain global optima. We like to stress that only two parameters
need to be hand-tuned in VDMGA, thus reducing the tuning effort present in traditional GAs and nAMGA. 相似文献

State space explosion is a key problem in the analysis of finite state systems. The sweep-line method is a state exploration
method which uses a notion of progress to allow states to be deleted from memory when they are no longer required. This reduces
the peak number of states that need to be stored, while still exploring the full state space. The technique shows promise
but has never achieved reductions greater than about a factor of 10 in the number of states stored in memory for industrially
relevant examples. This paper discusses sweep-line analysis of the connection management procedures of a new Internet standard,
the Datagram Congestion Control Protocol (DCCP). As the intuitive approaches to sweep-line analysis are not effective, we
introduce new variables to track progress. This creates further state explosion. However, when used with the sweep-line, the
peak number of states is reduced by over two orders of magnitude compared with the original. Importantly, this allows DCCP
to be analysed for larger parameter values.
