The objective of this work is to correctly detect and recognize faces in an image collection using a database of known faces. This has applications in photo-tagging, video indexing, surveillance and recognition in wearable computers. We propose a two-stage approach for both detection and recognition tasks. In the first stage, we generate a seed set from the given image collection using off-the-shelf face detection and recognition algorithms. In the second stage, the obtained seed set is used to improve the performance of these algorithms by adapting them to the domain at hand. We propose an exemplar-based semi-supervised framework for improving the detections. For recognition of images, we use sparse representation classifier and generate seed images based on a confidence measure. The labels of the seed set are then propagated to other faces using label propagation framework by imposing appropriate constraints. Unlike traditional approaches, our approach exploits the similarities among the faces in collection to obtain improved performance. We conduct extensive experiments on two real-world photo-album and video collections. Our approach consistently provides an improvement of \({\sim } 4\)% for detection and \(5{-}9\)% for recognition on all these datasets.  相似文献

The present experiments were focused on nanoindentation behaviour and the attendant “micro-pop-in” in a dense (~95% of theoretical) coarse-grain (~20 μm) alumina ceramic as a function of loading rate variations at three constant peak loads in the range of 105–106 μN. Based on the experimental results here we report for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, an increase in intrinsic nano scale contact resistance as well as the nanohardness with the loading rate. These observations were explained in terms of the correlation between the nanoscale plasticity and shear stress active just underneath the nanoindenter.  相似文献

Shock recovered samples of a coarse grain (10 μm), high density (>99.9% theoretical) alumina from asymmetric impact tests conducted at 6.5 GPa (e.g. 3.2 times its Hugoniot Elastic Limit) in a single stage gas gun and characterized by X-ray diffractometry, scanning and field emission scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy showed prolific presence of reduced crystallite size, higher average microstrain, grain localized micro/nano-scale deformations, micro-cleavages, grain-boundary microcracks, micro-wing crack formation, extensive shear induced deformations and fractures localized at grains, grain boundaries and triple grain junctions, grain localized entanglement of dislocations and their pile up impeded at grain boundaries. A new qualitative model based on micro-shear and micro-twist induced deformation and fracture in single and/or multiple planes in suitably oriented grain and/or grain assembly was developed to explain the experimentally observed damage evolution process.  相似文献

In this article, we made a comparative study of two multiple myeloma drugs: lenalidomide and pomalidomide. We calculated and discussed their geometries at DFT/B3LYP method. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonding in these molecules is confirmed and characterized by QTAIM calculations. Electronic parameters along with HOMO-LUMO and MESP surfaces are calculated in order to compare their chemical reactivity. The effect of structure and bonding on electronic properties and biological activities is discussed and it is established that pomalidomide is more biologically active than lenalidomide. The phenyl ring of these molecules show teratogenic effects, making a possibility of finding another new class of drugs.  相似文献

Homologues long‐chain chrysin derivatives (LCD, C n: 8–18) were synthesized and incorporated into nanostructured lipid carriers (NLC) with the aim to treat human neuroblastoma. Mutual miscibility and attractive interactions among the NLC components, namely tripalmitin (TP), cetyl palmitate (CP), oleic acid (OA), and the chrysin (CHR) derivatives (LCD) at the air–water interface were assessed by the Langmuir monolayer approach. Optimum combination for the NLC formulations was found to be 2:2:1 (M/M/M) for TP/CP/OA, respectively. NLC formulations, both in the absence and presence of LCD, were characterized by combined dynamic light scattering, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. The size and zeta potential of the NLC formulations were found in the range 200–350 nm and ?12 to ?18 mV, respectively. Encapsulation efficiency and release kinetics of CHR and LCD when loaded into NLC were also evaluated. LCD exhibited maximum incorporation, drug‐loading capacity, and sustained release because of its enhanced hydrophobicity. Superior incorporation efficiency and sustained‐release profile of LCD were able to enhance their anticancer activity against human neuroblastoma cell lines, compared to CHR, making them promising agents in combating cancer.  相似文献

Hydrogen network design is an important step in hydrogen management of a petroleum refinery that manages the hydrogen distribution and consumption in a cost‐effective manner. While most works in this area have primarily focused on minimization of fresh hydrogen requirement and hydrogen purification aspects, very few works have dealt the issue of compression costs in hydrogen network designs. This work proposes a new mathematical model for synthesizing a hydrogen network with minimum compression costs. In contrast to the existing literature, this model uses stream‐dependent properties and realistic compressor cost correlations to determine the compression duty and costs, respectively. Tests on literature examples show that our model is flexible and gives reasonably favorable solutions than the previous models. Furthermore, the usefulness of understanding the trade‐offs between the number of compressors and compression duty and the importance of using stream‐dependent conditions in estimating compression costs are also highlighted in this work. © 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 63: 3925–3943, 2017  相似文献

A simple and highly sensitive sensor based on edge-plane pyrolytic graphite electrode (EPPGE) coated with single-wall carbon nanotubes is proposed for diclofenac determination in nanomolar concentrations. The oxidation of diclofenac occurred in two well-defined peaks having peak potentials ∼439 and ∼854 mV at pH 7.2. The modified electrode showed excellent catalytic activity presenting much higher peak currents than those measured on a bare EPPGE. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the concentration range 1 × 10−9-500 × 10−9 M and 25 × 10−9-1500 × 10−9 M for peaks I and II, respectively. The limit of detection for peaks I and II was found as 0.82 × 10−9 and 22.5 × 10−9 M, respectively. The developed sensor was applied for the determination of diclofenac in biological and pharmaceutical samples using square-wave voltammetry and the validation of results using high performance liquid chromatography showed excellent agreement.  相似文献

A computational investigation of the mean flow field of turbulent rectangular jets issuing into a narrow channel crossflow is presented. The length of the jet slot spans more than 55% of the crossflow channel bed, leaving a small clearance between the jet edge and sidewalls. A finite volume code employing the standard k-εmodel is used to predict the mean, three-dimensional flow field. The mean flow field is investigated for two velocity ratios (6 and 9). Important flow features, such as the formation of different vortical structures and their characteristics owing to different values of the velocity ratio, are discussed. Some predicted results are compared with the experimental data reported in the literature. The predicted mean and turbulent flow properties are shown to be in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献
