Abstract: Electronics manufacturing is the fastest growing segment of the manufacturing domain today. The rapid change in printed circuit board manufacturing has been possible with the induction of surface-mounted components and robotic assembly. The high density packaging capability of surface-mounted technology has contributed enormously to the development of new trends in printed circuit board manufacturing.
PCAAD—Printed Circuit Board Assembly Advisor—is an expert system developed to capture this new technology and its interaction with the existing through-hole-mounting technology. In building the system, rules and guidelines pertaining to assembly are formulated and incorporated into the knowledge-base. The system is built on an object-oriented paradigm. The object-oriented approach, Smalltalk-80, the object-oriented language and the hierarchical rule structure paradigm are briefly discussed. A rating system is also introduced to rank various assembly designs. PCAAD can advise whether or not to proceed with assembly with a particular assembly design, and suggests assembly modification at the early stage of design to eliminate the assembly problems in the later phase of board production. 相似文献

In the present work, the influence of process parameters such as welding current (I), welding speed (S), and flux coating density (F) on different aspects of weld bead geometry for example depth of penetration (DOP), bead width (BW), depth to width ratio (D/W), and weld fusion zone area (WA) were investigated by using the central composite design (CCD). 9–12% Cr ferritic stainless steel (FSS) plates were welded using A-TIG welding. It was observed that all input variables have a direct influence on the DOP, BW, and D/W. However, flux coating density has no significant effect on WA. Mathematical models were generated from the obtained responses to predict the weld bead geometry. An optimized DOP, BW, D/W, and WA of 6.95?mm, 8.76?mm, 0.80, and 41.99?mm2, respectively, were predicted at the welding current of 213.78 A, the welding speed of 96.22?mm/min, and the flux coating density of 1.99?mg/cm2. Conformity test was done to check the practicability of the developed models. The conformity test results were in good agreement with the predicted values. Arc constriction and reversal in Marangoni convection were considered as major mechanisms for the deep and narrow weld bead during A-TIG welding. 相似文献

In this paper we formulate a least squares version of the recently proposed twin support vector machine (TSVM) for binary classification. This formulation leads to extremely simple and fast algorithm for generating binary classifiers based on two non-parallel hyperplanes. Here we attempt to solve two modified primal problems of TSVM, instead of two dual problems usually solved. We show that the solution of the two modified primal problems reduces to solving just two systems of linear equations as opposed to solving two quadratic programming problems along with two systems of linear equations in TSVM. Classification using nonlinear kernel also leads to systems of linear equations. Our experiments on publicly available datasets indicate that the proposed least squares TSVM has comparable classification accuracy to that of TSVM but with considerably lesser computational time. Since linear least squares TSVM can easily handle large datasets, we further went on to investigate its efficiency for text categorization applications. Small lightweight applicators, intended to be operated in array configurations are described. Their radiative fields are induced by RF currents in a conducting sheet embedded a few millimeters below the dielectric covered aperture surface. In arrays, these elements can be used where conformity to body curvatures is necessary. The clinical prototypes are tuned to 434 MHZ and have a bandwidth of almost 20 MHZ, which accommodates the tuning and coupling changes due to different body movement, and tissue heterogeneities. They are relatively insensitive to air bubbles in bolus and scar tissue. Their inherent linear polarization allows easy visualization of the superposition of electric field vectors of each element of an array and provides deeper penetration on curved surfaces due to electric field vector addition in the medium. In the case of a large breast tumor, depth of heating of over 4 cm was achieved along the central axis of a 2×2 coherent array. Dislocations in the base material are shown to significantly influence zero-bias impedance of long wavelength infrared HgCdTe photodiodes by acting as a shunt, and by influencing their minority carrier lifetime. Consequently, temperature dependence of zero-bias resistance-area product (R/sub 0/A) of these photodiodes can be described very well over a broad temperature range, down to 25 K, after taking into account the temperature and dislocation dependence of the minority carrier lifetime in addition to the shunt resistance contribution of dislocations. Further, based on the theoretical prediction that the shunt resistance contribution of a dislocation is a sensitive function of the magnitude of the charge around its core, it is proposed that the scatter of the R/sub 0/A experimental data in diodes with dislocation densities of less than 1/spl times/10/sup 7/ cm/sup -2/ could be the result of statistical variations in the charge around the core of dislocations. Interaction of dislocations among themselves may be responsible for deviations above dislocation densities of 1/spl times/10/sup 7/ cm/sup -2/. 相似文献

In single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), every reconstruction algorithm must use some model for the response of the gamma camera to emitted gamma-rays. The true camera response is both spatially variant and object dependent. These two properties result from the effects of scatter, septal penetration, and attenuation, and they forestall determination of the true response with any precision. This motivates the investigation of the performance of reconstruction algorithms when there are errors between the camera response used in the reconstruction algorithm and the true response of the gamma camera. In this regard, the authors compare the filtered backprojection algorithm, the expectation-maximization maximum likelihood algorithm, and the generalized expectation maximization (GEM) maximum a posteriori (MAP) algorithm, a Bayesian algorithm which uses a Markov random field prior. 相似文献

Automatic retinal image analysis is emerging as an important screening tool for early detection of eye diseases. Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of blindness. The manual examination of optic disk (OD) is a standard procedure used for detecting glaucoma. In this paper, we present an automatic OD parameterization technique based on segmented OD and cup regions obtained from monocular retinal images. A novel OD segmentation method is proposed which integrates the local image information around each point of interest in multidimensional feature space to provide robustness against variations found in and around the OD region. We also propose a novel cup segmentation method which is based on anatomical evidence such as vessel bends at the cup boundary, considered relevant by glaucoma experts. Bends in a vessel are robustly detected using a region of support concept, which automatically selects the right scale for analysis. A multi-stage strategy is employed to derive a reliable subset of vessel bends called r-bends followed by a local spline fitting to derive the desired cup boundary. The method has been evaluated on 138 images comprising 33 normal and 105 glaucomatous images against three glaucoma experts. The obtained segmentation results show consistency in handling various geometric and photometric variations found across the dataset. The estimation error of the method for vertical cup-to-disk diameter ratio is 0.09/0.08 (mean/standard deviation) while for cup-to-disk area ratio it is 0.12/0.10. Overall, the obtained qualitative and quantitative results show effectiveness in both segmentation and subsequent OD parameterization for glaucoma assessment. 相似文献

A control architecture for a high-speed packet-switched network is described. The architecture was designed and implemented as part of the PARIS (subsequently plaNET and BBNS) networking project at IBM. This high bandwidth network for integrated communication (data, voice, video) is currently operational as a laboratory prototype. It will also be deployed within the AURORA Testbed that is part of the NSF/DARPA gigabit networking program. The high bandwidth dictates the need for specialized hardware to support faster packet handling for both point-to-point and multicast connections. A faster and more efficient network control is also required in order to support the increased number of connections and their changing requirements with time. The new network control architecture presented exploits specialized hardware, thereby enabling tasks to be performed faster and with less computation overhead. In particular, since control information can be distributed quickly using hardware packet handling mechanisms, decisions can be made based upon more complete and accurate information. In some respects, this has the effect of having the benefits of centralized control (e.g., easier bandwidth resource allocation to connections), while retaining the fault tolerance and scalability of a distributed architecture 相似文献

The electrical effects of dislocations has been studied by modeling zero-bias resistance-area product (R0A) of long wavelength infrared diodes fabricated in molecular beam epitaxy (MBE)-grown HgCdTe-Si epitaxial films. Results
show that dislocations influence both 40 K and 78 K R0A products in high dislocation density (HgCdTe/Si) material. In low dislocation density samples (HgCdTe/CdZnTe), the variations
in 78 K R0A are limited by the composition (x) variations in Hg1-xCdxTe material, whereas dislocation contribution dominates the variations at 40 K. The origin of relatively large spread in 40
K R0A in both types of samples is traced to the statistical variations in the core charges of dislocations. It is concluded that
additional alternatives besides the reduction of dislocation density (such as control of core charges), may also need attention
in order to make Si a viable substrate material for the growth of HgCdTe epitaxial layers suitable for devices operating at
