An experimental study has been carried out on the characteristics of binary adsorption isotherms of water and volatile flavor for typical materials used in a box of a tobacco product or cigarettes. Ethyl acetate chosen as a model for water-soluble volatile flavor. Binary adsorption isotherms for the tobacco, papers, filters, and activated carbons were measured with a flow-type multi-component adsorption system under the canstant conditions of temperature a t 303 K and vapor pressure of water a t 2.5 kPain the vapor pressure range of ethyl acetate from 0 to 4.2 kPa. A linear equation was applied to express the binary adsorption isotherms for the tobacco, papers and filters, while a Dubinin-Astakhov equation was applied for the activated carbons. The binary adsorption was characterized into three groups, depending on the selectivity as well as the mechanism of adsorption; i.e.(l) for tobacco and papers, water was adsorbed much greater rather than ethyl acetate, (2) for filters, ethyl acetate was adsorbed on the surface as great as water, (3) for activated carbons, ethyl acetate was adsorbed much greater onto their micropores rather than water. Preparation of photoreactive Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films was carried out using polymers/oligomers prepared from long-chain dialkyl esters of di-and tetra-olefins and having cyclobutane rings in the main chain. These polymers/oligomers formed stable monolayers on a water surface when mixed with arachidic acid. These monolayers could be deposited onto a substrate successfully forming Y-type films. The oligomer LB films were polymerized on irradiation. The polymer LB films showed a photo-reversible process between polymers and oligomers, depending on wavelength of the irradiating light. On the basis of spectral data and molecular weight change, this behaviour was found to be caused by cleavage and formation of cyclobutane rings.  相似文献

The paper studied the performance characteristics of a three-phase cage induction motor using a 3D finite element technique. Especially, the effects of rotor skew and the rotor end-rings and the distribution of the electromagnetic field toward the axial direction, which have not been able to be analyzed accurately by 2D analysis, were investigated. Since the 3D analysis enabled the analysis of the continuity of the air gap flux density at the core ends and to take into consideration the rotor end-ring impedance, the motor parameters were calculated with high accuracy, compared with 2D analysis. Firstly, the authors made the relation of the rotor end-ring current with the rotor bar current clear, by analyzing the harmonics of the rotor bar current and the rotor end-ring current in the cases of motors without rotor skew and with rotor skew. Secondly, the torque and the rotor axial force were calculated from the distribution of the electromagnetic field obtained by the 3D analysis in the case of rotor skew. They also calculated the axial forces on the both end-rings in the case of rotor skew. The results obtained in the paper show the importance of 3D analysis for the design of induction motors  相似文献

Most of the emerging content-based multimedia technologies are based on efficient methods to solve machine early vision tasks. Among other tasks, object segmentation is perhaps the most important problem in single image processing. The solution of this problem is the key technology of the development of the majority of leading-edge interactive video communication technology and telepresence systems. The aim of this paper is to present a robust framework for real-time object segmentation and tracking in video sequences taken simultaneously from different perspectives. The other contribution of the paper is to present a new dedicated parallel hardware architecture. Its composed of a mixture of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technologies and uses the Content Addressable Memory (CAM) as a main processing unit. Experimental results indicate that small amount of hardware can deliver real-time performance and high accuracy. This is an improvement over previous systems, where execution time of the second-order using a greater amount of hardware has been proposed.Mahmoud Meribout (BS85, M91). Received the PhD degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Technology of Compiegne (France), in January 3rd 1995. He worked one year as an Associate Researcher, where he has been involved in some industrial projects related to hardware board design and video processing. FromNovember 1995 to October 2000, he has beenworking in Japan, with NTT and NEC corporations respectively, where he has been involved in several projects related to hardware & software design of next generation multimedia and networking equipments. He is holding several Japanese and American patents related to this particular topic. In 1998, he has received the NTT best award for his research and development records.Maamouru Nakanishi received the B.S. and M.S. in Electronics in 1985 and 1987 respectively, all from Kyoto University. Since 1987, he has been engaged in R&D of parallel processing architectures, memory-processor integration technology at NTT Corporation (Tokyo, Japan), when he has been involved in research on Advanced Content Addressable Memory applied to video processing. Summary The binding of fibrinogen with heparin and dextran sulfates, and of antithrombin III with heparin and dextran sulfate were investigated by sedimentation velocity method. From the measurement of fibrinogen-acidic polysaccharide systems, it was confirmed that heparin and low molecular weight dextran sulfate(DSC) forms soluble complexes with fibrinogen, though the amount bound of the latter was rather small compared with high molecular weight dextran sulfate(DSD). Antithrombin III was also found to be bound by heparin and DSC. The numbers of heparin molecules bound to one molecule of fibrinogen and antithrombin III were estimated to be 4.2 and 0.3, respectively.  相似文献

The growth characteristics of thick (100) CdTe epitaxial layers of a thickness up to 200 μm on a (100) GaAs substrate in a metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy (MOVPE) system and fabrication of CdTe/n+-GaAs heterojunction diodes for their possible applications in low-energy x-ray imaging detectors are reported. The grown epilayers were of high structural quality as revealed from the x-ray double-crystal rocking curve (DCRC) analysis, where the full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) values of the (400) diffraction peaks was between 50 arcsec and 70 arcsec. The 4.2-K photoluminescence (PL) showed high-intensity bound-excitonic emission and very small defect-related peaks. The heterojunction diode fabricated had a good rectification property with a low value of reverse-bias current. The x-ray detection capability of the diode was examined by the time-of-flight (TOF) measurement, where good bias-dependent photoresponse was observed, but no carrier transport property could be deduced. It was found that the CdTe layer has a large number of trapping states as attributed to the cadmium-related vacancy and Ga-impurity, diffused from the substrate, related defect complexes.  相似文献

We have experimentally demonstrated structural advantages due to rounded corners of rectangular-like cross-section of silicon nanowire (SiNW) field-effect transistors (FETs) on on-current (ION), inversion charge density normalized by a peripheral length of channel cross-section (Qinv) and effective carrier mobility (μeff). The ION was evaluated at the overdrive voltage (VOV) of 1.0 V, which is the difference between gate voltage (Vg) and the threshold voltage (Vth), and at the drain voltage of 1.0 V. The SiNW nFETs have revealed high ION of 1600 μA/μm of the channel width (wNW) of 19 nm and height (hNW) of 12 nm with the gate length (Lg) of 65 nm. We have separated the amount of on-current per wire at VOV = 1.0 V to a corner component and a flat surface component, and the contribution of the corners was nearly 60% of the total ION of the SiNW nFET with Lg of 65 nm. Higher Qinv at VOV = 1.0 V evaluated by advanced split-CV method was obtained with narrower SiNW FET, and it has been revealed the amount of inversion charge near corners occupied 50% of all the amount of inversion charge of the SiNW FET (wNW = 19 nm and hNW = 12 nm). We also obtained high μeff of the SiNW FETs compared with that of SOI planar nFETs. The μeff at the corners of SiNW FET has been calculated with the separated amount of inversion charge and drain conductance. Higher μeff around corners is obtained than the original μeff of the SiNW nFETs. The higher μeff and the large fractions of ION and Qinv around the corners indicate that the rounded corners of rectangular-like cross-sections play important roles on the enhancement of the electrical performance of the SiNW nFETs.  相似文献

We measured the thermal dependencies of the refractive index and the absorption coefficient of high-resistivity silicon. We found that the refractive index varied slightly with temperature, and the absorption coefficient was very low and remained approximately constant as the temperature was changed. As a result, the conditions for terahertz propagation in silicon could be controlled by changing the refractive index without any absorption loss. As one application of this effect, we developed a terahertz time delay generator that can generate a terahertz time delay by changing the temperature of the medium through which the terahertz beam passes, without the need for any mechanical delay. We demonstrated generation of a terahertz time delay of approximately 6.6 ps.  相似文献

A simple fabrication, scalable to centimeter scale, of a permeable membrane made of block copolymer containing molecular transport channels is demonstrated by coating photo‐crosslinkable liquid‐crystalline block copolymer, consisting of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly(methacrylate) (PMA) bearing stilbene (Stb) mesogens in the side chains (PEO114b‐PMA(Stb)52), onto a sacrificial cellulose acetate film substrate. After thermal annealing, perpendicularly aligned and hexagonally arranged PEO cylindrical domains with a surface density of 1011 cm?2 were formed and then fixed efficiently by photo‐crosslinking the stilbene moieties in the PMA(Stb) domains by [2 + 2] dimerization. The fully penetrating straight PEO cylindrical domains across the 480‐nm‐thick membrane were well‐defined and visualized as molecule‐transport channels. After exfoliated by removal of the cellulose acetate layer, the membrane could be transferred onto another substrate by either scooping or a horizontal lifting method. Throughout the processes, the fully penetrating PEO channels across the membrane are preserved to open at both ends. A simple permeation experiment demonstrates that rhodamine dyes permeate efficiently through the PEO cylindrical channels of the annealed membrane but not across a non‐annealed one.  相似文献

Amorphous matrices made up of sugar molecules, are frequently used in food and pharmaceutical industries. A drawback to their use is that they are susceptible to collapse, as a result of water uptake and an increase in temperature and subsequently crystallize. Herein, the crystallization characteristics of amorphous sugar (sucrose and α-lactose) preparations were analyzed, with the purpose of obtaining knowledge that could lead to the prediction of how long the amorphous state is retained under various conditions. The impact of compression, physical aging and freezing rate on the induction period (tind) for crystallization were examined. Freeze-dried sugar samples were compressed at 74 or 443 MPa (5 min) and then rehumidified at specified RHs. Some freeze-dried sucrose samples were physically aged, and alternatively freeze-drying was conducted under different conditions. The isothermal crystallization of the prepared samples at different temperatures (T), the glass transition and the crystallization temperature (Tcry) were measured, using differential scanning calorimetry. The compression markedly decreased the tind, while significantly lowered the hygroscopicity. Physical aging and slower-freezing also shortened the tind. The tind was found to be correlated exclusively with (TcryT), regardless of rehumidification, compression, sugar type, physical aging and freezing rate in the freeze-drying process.  相似文献
