Effect of food intake with a high protein content on the hormone levels of the blood

A study was made of the time course of changes in gastrin, insulin and ACTH concentration in the peripheral blood in the course of the development of a specific dynamic food action. Eighteen normal subjects and 78 patients with peptic ulcer, chronic gastritis and chronic enterocolitis were entered into the study. It was demonstrated that apart from digestion stimulation, food intake acted as the most important factor changing the hormonal level in the body. Studies of the blood level of hormones in the course of food intake in patients allowed the detection of various deviations from normal occurring in hormonal secretion.     

Charged Surface of Liquid Hydrogen at Near Zero Gravitation

The results of investigations of the evolution of the shape of the equipotentially charged surface of a liquid hydrogen layer in the external electric field in the case when the effective gravitation acceleration is near to zero are presented. The reconstruction phenomenon—the formation of a solitary wave at the flat charged surface of liquid hydrogen at some critical value of the external electric field—has been studied under the conditions of a total screening of the electric field in the bulk of a liquid by a surface charge. From the results obtained it follows that the transition of the flat surface into the reconstructed state is close to a second order phase transition. A voltage-temperature U–T phase diagram of the charged surface has been determined. The statement of a soft character of the transition has been confirmed also by the results of studies of the oscillations spectrum of the charged surface in electric fields lower and higher the critical value.     

Optimization of the processes of treatment of materials with supplementation of the definition of unknown random initial characteristics

Consideration is given to the issues of optimization of the processes of treatment of materials with certain unknown initial characteristics. Supplementing of the definition of these unknown parameters can be considered as adaptation of a mathematical model.     

Corrosion of steels due to the action of microorganisms

The susceptibility of variously alloyed structural steels to microbiological corrosion in media enriched with hydrogen sulfide and favorable for reproduction of sulfate-reducing bacteria is studied. It is shown that stainless steels 05Kh17N4DB and especially nitrogen-alloyed steel 05Kh13A possess a higher anti-adhesive capacity with respect to corrosion-active microorganisms and resistance to microbe fouling and formation of corrosion-active biofilms than the conventional structural steel 38KhGM. It is assumed that the action of nitrogen can be connected with formation of biocide substances.     

Kinetics of the hydrotreatment of rapeseed oil fatty acid triglycerides under mild conditions

To establish principal regularities of the hydrotreatment of rapeseed oil fatty acid triglycerides (FATs), the kinetics of this process has been studied at temperatures of 300–380°C, contact times of 0.38–0.10 h, and a hydrogen pressure of 1.0 MPa in a flow fixed-bed reactor. The process is performed over nonsulfided nickel catalysts, which are of great practical interest for the production of green diesel. The kinetic scheme of the process with consideration for target products (alkanes) and all oxygen-containing by-products has been proposed. The quantitative estimate, which enables the prediction of the composition of products for other process conditions, has been obtained for the principal paths of the hydrotreatment of rapeseed oil FATs.
