In many contemporary collaborative inquiry learning environments, chat is being used as a means for communication. Still, it remains an open issue whether chat communication is an appropriate means to support the deep reasoning process students need to perform in such environments. Purpose of the present study was to compare the impact of chat versus face-to-face communication on performance within a collaborative computer-supported modeling task. 44 Students from 11th-grade pre-university education, working in dyads, were observed during modeling. Dyads communicated either face-to-face or through a chat tool. Students’ reasoning during modeling was assessed by analyzing verbal protocols. In addition, we assessed the quality of student-built models. Results show that while model quality scores did not differ across both conditions, students communicating through chat compressed their interactions resulting in less time spent on surface reasoning, whereas students who communicated face-to-face spent significantly more time on surface reasoning.  相似文献

HLA class I molecules present peptides on the cell surface to CD8(+) T cells. The repertoire of peptides that associate to class I molecules represents the cellular proteome. Therefore, cells expressing different proteomes could generate different class I-associated peptide repertoires. A large number of peptides have been sequenced from HLA class I alleles, mostly from lymphoid cells. On the other hand, T cell immunotherapy is a goal in the fight against cancer, but the identification of T cell epitopes is a laborious task. Proteomic techniques allow the definition of putative T cell epitopes by the identification of HLA natural ligands in tumor cells. In this study, we have compared the HLA class I-associated peptide repertoire from the hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line SK-Hep-1 with that previously described from lymphoid cells. The analysis of the peptide pool confirmed that, as expected, the peptides from SK-Hep-1 derive from proteins localized in the same compartments as in lymphoid cells. Within this pool, we have identified 12 HLA class I peptides derived from HCC-related proteins. This confirms that tumor cell lines could be a good source of tumor associated antigens to be used, together with MS, to define putative epitopes for cytotoxic T cells from cancer patients.  相似文献

We report on morphosynthesis techniques that have been employed to tune polyamine film nanoarchitectures and on their resulting morphologies. Specific layers discussed include films of aniline/Laponite clay and aniline solution processed with V2O5 catalyst. Synthesis approaches examined include films generated in-situ (glass templating), solution based drop casting, and mechanochemical grinding. Surface topography results suggest that these approaches provide dimensionality control of the polyaniline morphology. Surface images of the mechanochemically ground polyaniline/Laponite nanocomposite layer reveal interfacial contact which is promising for potential heterojunction solar cell designs.  相似文献

Integrated river basin management (IRBM) calls for participatory practices involving stakeholders along transnational river landscapes. Understanding the complex and diverse views regarding participation is a prerequisite for meaningful involvement of civil actors, especially in a transnational context. In a case study along the Lower Rhine river, we assessed and compared cognitive perceptions towards IRBM of citizen initiatives and nature organizations from Germany and the Netherlands and their previous experiences with participation processes.We found large differences between the four actor groups in motivations to participate as well as in levels of trust towards institutions. This study also showed different views on participation between the two countries with regard to the problem definition, nature images and the perceived relationships between government organisations on the one hand and citizen initiatives and nature organisations on the other hand.The findings suggest that views vary between citizen initiatives and nature organizations within a country and that cultural notions add to the complexity of transnational participation. In transnational participation processes, the varying views between actor groups should be taken into account, as well as the complexities among countries even within actor groups.  相似文献

Several strains of Enterococcus spp. are capable of producing bacteriocins with antimicrobial activity against important bacterial pathogens in dairy products. In this study, the bacteriocins produced by two Enterococcus strains (Enterococcus mundtii CRL35 and Enterococcus faecium ST88Ch), isolated from cheeses, were characterized and tested for their capability to control growth of Listeria monocytogenes 426 in experimentally contaminated fresh Minas cheese during refrigerated storage. Both strains were active against a variety of pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms and bacteriocin absorption to various L. monocytogenes, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 19443 and Lactobacillus sakei ATCC 15521 varied according to the strain and the testing conditions (pH, temperature, presence of salts and surfactants). Growth of L. monocytogenes 426 was inhibited in cheeses containing E. mundtii CRL35 up to 12 days at 8 °C, evidencing a bacteriostatic effect. E. faecium ST88Ch was less effective, as the bacteriostatic affect occurred only after 6 days at 8 °C. In cheeses containing nisin (12.5 mg/kg), less than one log reduction was observed. This research underlines the potential application of E. mundtii CRL35 in the control of L. monocytogenes in Minas cheese.  相似文献

A novel electrochemical sensor was fabricated by electrodeposition of silver nanoparticles on pre-synthesized polypyrrole (PPy), to form a PPy/Ag composite matrix on a glassy carbon electrode. The electrochemical sensor exhibited strong catalytic activity with regards to nitrate reduction. Scanning electron microscopy and cyclic voltammetry were used for the characterization of the composite. The detection limit of nitrate was found to be 5 μM. Moreover, the sensor showed excellent sensitivity, selectivity, and stability.  相似文献

Poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) (EVA)/clay nanocomposites containing two different organoclays with different clay loadings were prepared. The transport of gases (oxygen and nitrogen) through the composite membranes was investigated and the results were compared. These studies revealed that the incorporation of nanoclays in the polymer increased the efficiency of the membranes toward barrier properties. It was also found that the barrier properties of the membranes decreased with clay loadings. This is mainly due to the aggregation of clay at higher loadings. The morphology of the nanocomposites was studied by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and X‐ray scattering. Small angle X‐ray scattering results showed significant intercalation of the polymer chains between the organo‐modified silicate layers in all cases. Better dispersed silicate layer stacking and more homogeneous membranes were obtained for Cloisite® 25A based nanocomposites compared with Cloisite® 20A samples. Microscopic observations (SEM and TEM) were coherent with those results. The dispersion of clay platelets seemed to be maximized for 3 wt % of clay and agglomeration increased with higher clay loading. Wide angle X‐ray scattering results showed no significant modifications in the crystalline structure of the EVA matrix because of the presence of the clays. The effect of free volume on the transport behavior was studied using positron annihilation spectroscopy. This research work reports a laboratory study of the influence of environments with different CO2 levels, representative of conditions in which exhaust gas recirculation is used in combustion systems, on soot and gas products formed in the thermal decomposition of ethylene–CO2 mixtures. The investigation includes experiments, in a flow reactor, with 30,000 ppm of ethylene at different experimental conditions of temperature (975–1475 K) and CO2 concentrations (25%, 50% and 78.5%), using nitrogen as bulk gas. The analysis is performed by comparison with the data obtained during the pyrolysis of ethylene in a N2 atmosphere.The present results highlight the importance of the CO2 level in the system, since the presence of 25% CO2 tends to promote the formation of soot, whereas an increased CO2 addition of 78.5% leads to a diminution in the production of soot, compared to the pyrolysis of pure ethylene in N2. The different evolution in soot formation tendencies can be attributed to competing reactions that gain importance depending on the different CO2 levels, boosting or suppressing soot formation as function of the composition of both the O/H radical pool and the reacting species. The outlet concentrations of H2, CO and C2H2, as well as the formation of H2O, are directly related to the different soot-forming tendency found as function of different CO2 environments.  相似文献
