A continuum theory for multiphase particulate suspensions in a fluid media is formulated. The generalized fundamental balance laws for the particulate phases as well as for the continuous suspending fluid phase are presented. The thermodynamics of a multiphase system is studied and the method of Lagrangian multipliers is employed to include the constraints of incompressibility of materials of the constituents and the criterion for fully saturated media. Constitutive equations are developed which include microrotational and microdilatational effects. The basic equations of motion of different phases are derived and discussed. Special considerations are given to the case of incompressible constituents. Examples of applications of the present theory to dilute suspension flows and multiphase sedimentations are also discussed.  相似文献

The widespread availability of broadband internet access and the growth in server-based processing have provided an opportunity to run games away from the player into the cloud and offer a new promising service known as cloud gaming. The concept of cloud gaming is to render a game in the cloud and stream the resulting game scenes to the player as a video sequence over a broadband connection. To meet the stringent network bandwidth requirements of cloud gaming and support more players, efficient bit rate reduction techniques are needed. In this paper, we introduce the concept of game attention model (GAM), which is basically a game context-based visual attention model, as a means for reducing the bit rate of the streaming video more efficiently. GAM estimates the importance of each macro-block in a game frame from the player’s perspective and allows encoding the less important macro-blocks with lower bit rate. We have evaluated nine game video sequences, covering a wide range of game genre and a spectrum of scene content in terms of details, motion and brightness. Our subjective assessment shows that by integrating this model into the cloud gaming framework, it is possible to decrease the required bit rate by nearly 25 % on average, while maintaining a relatively high user quality of experience. This clearly enables players with limited communication resources to benefit from cloud gaming with acceptable quality.  相似文献

Process capability indices such as Cp are used extensively in manufacturing industries to assess processes in order to decide about purchasing. In practice, the parameter for calculating Cp is rarely known and is frequently replaced with estimates from an in-control reference sample. This article explores the optimal sample size required to achieve a desired error of estimation using absolute percentage error of different Cp estimates. The Behavior Based Locomotion Controller (BBLC) extends the applicability of the behavior based control (BBC) architecture to redundant systems with multiple task-space motions. A set of control behaviors are attributed to each task-space motion individually and a reinforcement learning algorithm is used to select the combination of behaviors which can achieve the control objective. The resulting behavior combination is an emergent control behavior robust to unknown environments due to the added learning capability. Hence, the BBLC is applicable to complex redundant systems operating in unknown environments, where the emergent control behaviors can satisfy higher level control objectives such as balance in locomotion. The balance control problem of two robotic systems, a bipedal robot walker and a mobile manipulator, are used to study the performance of this controller. Results show that the BBLC strategy can generate emergent balancing strategies capable of adapting to new unknown disturbances from the environment, using only a small fixed library of balancing behaviors.  相似文献

The vehicle routing problem with deliveries and pickups is a challenging extension to the vehicle routing problem that lately attracted growing attention in the literature. This paper investigates the relationship between two versions of this problem, called “mixed” and “simultaneous”. In particular, we wish to know whether a solution algorithm designed for the simultaneous case can solve the mixed case. To this end, we implement a metaheuristic based on reactive tabu search. This paper presents a traversed pathtracking-based technique for integrated mobility andquality-of-service (QoS) management of connections incellular wireless ATM networks. The objective is totreat mobility as a network impairment triggeredactivity which is to be handled via QoS management.Depending on the speed of the mobile unit and thecategory of service being used, the QoS of a connectionmay or may not vary continuously during a session.
