Plastisols, which are a blend of poly(vinyl chloride) resin and a plasticizer (DEHP), were used as a toughening agent of a resol resin in order to improve the mechanical properties. It was not possible to formulate resol blends by adding more than 10 % of plastisol owing to a lack of apparent homogeneity in the systems, which also showed many air bubbles. The relationship between dynamic mechanical, mechanical and thermal properties and the amount of plastisol added was studied. It was determined from the infrared spectroscopy and dynamic mechanical results that the resol–plastisol blends seem to be formed by a reaction between the phenol and PVC giving a higher crosslinked structure. An improvement in the thermal resistance of the blends at lower temperatures was observed with an increase in the percentage of plastisol. Flexural analysis showed the elastic behaviour of the systems. However, it was not possible to observe the effect of the plasticizer (DEHP) owing to the low quantity of plastisol that was added to the resol. Copyright © 2004 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

A severe hemolytic crisis was observed in a 34-yr-old female of English-Irish extraction following a viral illness treated with acetaminophen. Heinz bodies and heat instability were present only during a transient hemolytic event. A challenge dose of acetaminophen caused no detectable hematologic abnormality. Structural studies of the hemoglobin during hemolysis and again after complete recovery localized the abnormality to tryptic peptide beta Tp-5, and automated sequencing of I 125-labeled beta chains indicated a replacement of phenylalanine (C7) beta 41 by tyrosine. Substitution of the next residue, phenylalanine (CD1) beta 42 by serine (Hb Hammersmith), has resulted in chronic severe Heinz body hemolytic anemia. The lack of chronic anemia in the present disorder may reflect the different relationships of beta41 and beta 42 and/or the similarities in volume and hydrophobicity of tyrosine and phenylalanine. It is suggested that substitution of tyrosine for phenylalanine in Hb Mequon may disturb the critical environment around the heme group and render it susceptible to oxidative denaturation in the presence of infections and/or drugs.  相似文献

Results of studies have suggested that endotoxin and lowered coronary arterial perfusion pressures are detrimental to cardiac performance and lead to failure. Prevention of cardiac failure in the isolated canine heart preparation confronted with endotoxin and decreased coronary perfusion pressure was possible by perfusing these hearts with sodium nitroprusside. Prevention of failure was manifested by a lowered left ventricular endiastolic pressure and was associated with increased coronary flow and decreased coronary resistance with increased oxygen delivery and decreased oxygen extraction. Possible explanations for improved performance by dilator perfusion include increased delivery of oxygen and nutrients to myocardial tissue as well as a reduction of ventricular wall tension by dilating the coronary vascular skeleton. Prevention of extravasation of interstitial fluid into myocardial tissue by reducing overperfusion of potentially damaged coronary vessels could serve to maintain myocardial integrity and ventricular compliance. The potential use of such therapy warrants further study, with emphasis on evaluating the hemodynamics of the intact animal.  相似文献

This study was designed to determine what effect physical training has on heart rate and stroke volume responses to exercise stress and to determine if exercise altered the distribution of uterine blood flow. Measurements were made in ten pregnant ewes at rest and immediately following exercise on a treadmill. Five ewes underwent physical training for 3 wk prior to measurement. An increase in heart rate with no change in stroke volume was observed following exercise in both trained and untrained ewes. Total uterine blood flow was not changed following exercise, but distribution was altered in favor of the placenta. Blood flow was evenly distributed within the placenta before and after exercise. The redistribution of flow to the placenta that occurs after exercise. tphe redistribution of flow to the placenta that occurs after exercise might represent a compensatory mechanism for the fetus.  相似文献

To describe the thermodynamic behavior of binary and larger polymer blends, the Hoch-Arpshofen model is used to describe highly asymmetric phase diagrams, and asymmetric enthalpies of mixing, where the miscibility gap and the extremum of the enthalpy of mixing leans toward one of the components. The Gibbs energy of mixing of polymer blends is described as where z can be mole fraction, volume fraction, or weight fraction. The Hoch-Arpshofen model contains an interaction parameter W = A + B*T independent of composition and an integer number n (2, 3, 4, …), which defines the asymmetricity of the binary phase diagram and of the Gibbs energy of mixing curve. In a binary system n defines the composition where the Gibbs energy of mixing is maximum or minimum or the composition is where the temperature of a miscibility gap is maximum or minimum. In a binary system A-B the maximum effect occurs at An–1B. The disorder reaction in polymers is treated as a transformation temperature, and defines T0, the temperature where the ordered and disordered material is equal.  相似文献

AIM: To develop an acute tolerant model in describing relationship between diltiazem (Dil) concentrations in plasma and PR intervals on ECG in men. METHOD: Both plasma concentrations of Dil and changes of ECG were simultaneously determined after po Dil 90 mg in 8 men. RESULTS: A two-compartmental pharmacokinetic model with first-order input gave a good fitting for the plasma concentration of Dil. Corresponding pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated: t1/2 beta, 5.9 +/- 1.0 h; MRT, 15.9 +/- 1.0 h; t0, 0.38 +/- 0.07 h; tmax, 2.7 +/- 0.4 h, and Cmax, 161 +/- 60 micrograms.L-1. The good fittings for plasma concentration-effect data were obtained with tolerant model E = S x C/(1 + T/T50). The pharmacodynamic parameters were given as follows: S, 829 +/- 293 s.g-1.L; Kt0, 0.037 +/- 0.024 h-1 and T50, 10 +/- 4 micrograms.L-1. CONCLUSION: Relationship between Dil concentrations in plasma and PR interval changes in men after po 90 mg was described using an acute tolerant model.  相似文献
