In this work, multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was successfully modified using aqueous solution of Oxone as a new oxidant. The effect of oxidation temperature on various characteristics of the treated MWCNTs was also investigated. FTIR and titration analysis proved the formation of carboxyl, carbonyl and epoxide groups at the surface of MWCNTs. The concentration of the functional groups increased as the modification temperature increased. The presence of such oxygen containing groups at the surface of MWCNTs justified the long time stability of the treated MWCNTs suspensions in water and methanol. The modified MWCNTs showed higher entanglement compared to row MWCNT due to the cross-links adjacent effect of pendant functional groups. Finally, it was concluded that Oxone oxidation process destroys the structure of the MWCNTs, but not severe enough to unzip the MWCNTs.  相似文献

In this paper, electroencephalogram (EEG) signals of 13 schizophrenic patients and 18 age-matched control participants are analyzed with the objective of classifying the two groups. For each case, multi-channels (22 electrodes) scalp EEG is recorded. Several features including autoregressive (AR) model parameters, band power and fractal dimension are extracted from the recorded signals. Leave-one (participant)-out cross validation is used to have an accurate estimation for the separability of the two groups. Boosted version of Direct Linear Discriminant Analysis (BDLDA) is selected as an efficient classifier which applied on the extracted features. To have comparison, classifiers such as standard LDA, Adaboost, support vector machine (SVM), and fuzzy SVM (FSVM) are applied on the features. Results show that the BDLDA is more discriminative than others such that their classification rates are reported 87.51%, 85.36% and 85.41% for the BDLDA, LDA, Adaboost, respectively. Results of SVM and FSVM classifiers were lower than 50% accuracy because they are more sensitive to outlier instances. In order to determine robustness of the suggested classifier, noises with different amplitudes are added to the test feature vectors and robustness of the BDLDA was higher than the other compared classifiers.  相似文献

Recent improvements in the performance of photocatalysts made it possible to tackle pollution through environment friendly methods. This study investigates the modification of the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 by employing WO3 and conductive polymers, namely, polyaniline (Pani) and polypyrrole (Ppy). Basing on our previous improvement of TiO2 using a conductive polymer and activated carbon (AC), this study determines the activated carbon forms of TiO2. The prepared composites are characterized using X-ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared, thermogravimetric analysis, Brunauer–Emmet–Teller, and UV–Vis spectroscopy. The specific surface area of the mesoporous composites is as follows: WO3/TiO2·AC (Pani) > WO3/TiO2·AC (Ppy) > WO3/TiO2·Pani > WO3/TiO2·Ppy (127 > 98 > 68 > 44 m2 g?1), which exhibited a similar trend to the photocatalytic performances (100 > 95 > 91 > 72 % conversion rate). This result could be attributed to higher porosity, surge of charge separation, and photo-responding range extension induced by the synergistic effect of WO3, conducting polymers, and TiO2 in the samples.  相似文献

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of small nodes that are capable of sensing, computing, and communication. One of the greatest challenges in WSNs is the limitation of energy resources in nodes. This limitation applies to all of the protocols and algorithms that are used in these networks. Routing protocols in these networks should be designed considering this limitation. Many papers have been published examining low energy consumption networks. One of the techniques that has been used in this context is cross-layering. In this technique, to reduce the energy consumption, layers are not independent but they are related to each other and exchange information with each other. In this paper, a cross-layer design is presented to reduce the energy consumption in WSNs. In this design, the communication between the network layer and medium access layer has been established to help the control of efforts to access the line to reduce the number of failed attempts. In order to evaluate our proposed design, we used the NS2 software for simulation. Then, we compared our method with a cross-layer design based on an Ad-hoc On-demand Distance Vector routing algorithm. Simulation results show that our proposed idea reduces energy consumption and it also improves the packet delivery ratio and decreases the end-to-end delay in WSNs.  相似文献

Bipolar Mood Disorder (BMD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) patients mostly share clinical signs and symptoms in children; therefore, accurate distinction of these two mental disorders is a challenging issue among the psychiatric society. In this study, 43 subjects are participated including 21 patients with ADHD and 22 subjects with BMD. Their electroencephalogram (EEG) signals are recorded by 22 electrodes in two eyes-open and eyes-closed resting conditions. After a preprocessing step, several features such as band power, fractal dimension, AR model coefficients and wavelet coefficients are extracted from recorded signals. This paper is aimed to achieve a high classification rate between ADHD and BMD patients using a suitable classifier to their EEG features. In this way, we consider a piece wise linear classifier which is designed based on XCSF. Experimental results of XCSF-LDA showed a significant improvement (86.44% accuracy) compare to that of standard XCSF (78.55%). To have a fair comparison, the other state-of-art classifiers such as LDA, Direct LDA, boosted JD-LDA (BJDLDA), and XCSF are assessed with the same feature set that finally the proposed method provided a better results in comparison with the other rival classifiers. To show the robustness of our method, additive white noise with different amplitude is added to the raw signals but the results achieved by the proposed classifier empirically confirmed a higher robustness against noise compare to the other classifiers. Consequently, the proposed classifier can be considered as an effective method to classify EEG features of BMD and ADHD patients.  相似文献

The aerial parts of Satureja hortensis, cultivated in Iran (Research Station of Alborz, Karaj), were collected at the full-flowering stage and dried by three different drying methods (sun-drying, shade-drying and oven-drying at 45 °C). The essential oils of every treatment were obtained by hydro-distillation of the aerial parts. In addition, the essential oil of shade-dried sample was obtained by two other distillation methods (water- and steam-distillation and direct steam-distillation). The oils were analyzed by capillary GC and GC–MS. Statistical analysis showed no significant difference between oil yield (w/w) of the oven-dried sample (1.06%) compared to shade-dried (0.94%) and sun-dried (0.87%). The oil content of the shade-dried sample, obtained by hydro-distillation, was higher (0.94%) than that of the steam-distilled (0.27%). Twenty-three components were identified in the oil of S. hortensis in the different drying methods, including carvacrol (46.0–48.1%) and γ-terpinene (37.7–39.4%) as main components. Seventeen compounds were characterized in the oils of different distillation methods, including carvacrol (12.3–46%) and γ-terpinene (37.7–70.4%). Although the drying methods had no significant effect on oil composition of S. hortensis, the distillation changed the percentage of main components sharply (significant at 1%). The steam-distillation method produced the lowest amount of carvacrol and highest amount of γ-terpinene. The results showed that extraction by hydro-distillation gave the best results for S. hortensis, based on oil yield and carvacrol percentage.  相似文献

In this study, we demonstrated a facile approach for the synthesis of nanocontainers using the encapsulation of a 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) inhibitor; these nanocontainers were capable of responsively releasing a corrosion inhibitor and of self-healing performances. The anticorrosive performance of the CeO2 nanocontainers was investigated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement in a saline electrolyte via the incorporation of different weight percentages (0.5, 1, and 2 wt %) of synthesized nanocontainer in epoxy (EP) resin. The EIS results show that the loading of 1 wt % CeO2 nanocontainer containing MBT inhibitor in the epoxy (EP) coating [EP/NC MBT–CeO2 (1%)] provided the highest Rcoat, the lowest constant phase element of coating, and the optimum release of MBT at different operating pHs. The highest coating resistance Rcoat values of this coating (7.81 × 107 Ω cm2) were about 12 and 8573 times greater than those considered for EP–CeO2 and EP coatings, respectively. Different releases of the MBT inhibitor were detected at various pHs. We found that the coating operating in acidic media exhibited a better self-healing performance. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This study examines the oxygen adsorption and desorption characteristics of La0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (LSCF5582) membranes prepared at sintering temperatures of 1200–1300 °C, with the aim of gaining an insight into their performance in the surface reaction limited regime for oxygen separation applications. The findings of this work are then compared with our experimental data on Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3?δ (BSCF5582) membranes. It is demonstrated that the adsorption rate constants of both membranes are two orders of magnitude greater than their respective oxygen desorption rate constants as the oxygen adsorption occurs in less than 24 s whilst the oxygen desorption takes approximately one hour to reach equilibrium. The activation energy for oxygen adsorption of LSCF5582 reduced to a quarter of its value with increasing the sintering temperature from 1200 °C to 1300 °C. This is attributed to the oxygen exchange occurring more rapidly along the grain boundaries resulting in a lower activation energy. The LSCF5582 grain sintered at 1200 °C is the optimum selection for oxygen separation applications at an operating temperature of 850 °C and oxygen partial pressure of 0.21 bar.  相似文献
