A model has been proposed to explain the failure of the original BMS10-39 epoxy paint on upper vertical surfaces in B-52 fuel tanks. The model involves interaction of the paint with DIEGME, a fuel system ice inhibitor (FSII) in jet fuel, that is distilled from the liquid fuel. In this communication, distillation experiments used to support the model are refined to better match the mass transfer of vapor from fuel in a B-52 fuel tank at close to room temperature. The interaction of these lower temperature distillates with the paint affirms the earlier model. On the basis of these experiments it is proposed that paint failure may be controlled or eliminated by reducing the level of DIEGME in the fuel. Proposed changes in military jet fuel composition are detailed.  相似文献

The hygienic working practices of the maintenance personnel as well as the hygiene of the equipment in the food industry were investigated with questionnaires and microbial surveys. The protective clothing, washing of hands and tools as well as avoiding foreign bodies left on the production lines should be targeted when the hygienic working practices are developed for maintenance personnel. Based on the questionnaire to food processors, packaging machines, conveyers, dispensers, slicing and cooling machines were considered the most problematic pieces of equipment hygienically mainly because of poor hygienic design. In order to improve food safety, both the training of maintenance personnel in food hygiene and equipment design should be more emphasised.  相似文献

Preliminary results of an investigation focused on the influence of electrokinetic treatment on the mechanical and hydraulic behaviour of clayey soils are presented. The experimental programme aims at providing a contribution to the sustainability of contaminant extraction or containment via electroosmosis. Changes in the hydraulic and mechanical properties of two illitic clayey soils, subjected to a DC electric field, were investigated. Samples of the two soils were subjected to electrokinetic filtration, for different periods of time, and under different constant loads. Afterwards, they were tested under one-dimensional compression to detect changes in stiffness and hydraulic conductivity due to the electrical treatment. After the application of a DC field for a few hours, a small reversible increment in the average soil stiffness was observed, with respect to the untreated soil, while the hydraulic conductivity was not affected substantially. Dramatic changes of the mechanical and hydraulic soil properties, correlated to changes of the soil pH, were observed following non-conditioned electrokinetic treatment with duration of the order of days.  相似文献

In the present work, the ohmic resistance of an integrated planar-SOFC (IP-SOFC) has been evaluated by developing a model whose equations have been solved numerically through an FEM method. The model allows to estimate the distribution of voltage and current density in the cell. A comparison between simulated and experimental data of area specific resistance is reported, which shows satisfactory agreement. The mathematical model has also been used to carry out some parametric studies for optimisation purposes. Indeed, a reduction in cell pitch length and an increase in electrode thickness are predicted to lead to a reduction in ohmic losses in IP-SOFCs.  相似文献

A combination of dynamic shear rheology, thermomechanical analysis (TMA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Near-Edge X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (NEXAFS), and fracture toughness testing was utilized to characterize the thermal, mechanical, chemical, and fracture properties of alumina (α-Al2O3)-filled epoxy resins as a function of average filler size, size distribution, particle shape, loading, and epoxy crosslink density. In general the cured properties of the filled composites were robust. Small changes in particle size, shape, and size distribution had little impact on the final properties. Resin crosslink density and filler loading were the most critical variables, causing changes in all properties. However, most applications could likely tolerate small changes in these variables also. SEM and NEXAFS characterization of the fracture surfaces revealed that the fracture occurs at the filler interface and the interfacial epoxy composition is similar to the bulk resin, indicating a weak epoxy-alumina interaction. These results are critical for implementation of particulate-filled polymer composites in practical applications because relaxed material specifications and handling procedures can be incorporated in production environments to improve efficiency.  相似文献

Neutron reflectometry (NR) was used to directly measure the interface width between a titanium dioxide and a silicon dioxide film deposited by sol-gel processing. In a bilayer heated to 450°C, NR measurements showed that the interface width is 0.8 nm. This width is the same as the roughness of a sol-gel silicon dioxide surface after the same heat treatment, suggesting no interdiffusion or mixing at the bilayer interface.  相似文献

The thermal conductivity and diffusivity of silicon carbide whisker reinforced mullite was shown to increase with whisker content. This effect was much greater for vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) whiskers than for rice-hull (RH) whiskers. This suggests that the thermal conductivity for the VLS whiskers was significantly higher than for the RH whiskers. Due to preferred orientation of the whiskers, thermal conductivity and diffusivity of the composite samples exhibited significant anisotropy.  相似文献

To develop a synthesis of tritiated cyclopropene fatty acids (CPFA), compounds that should prove useful for affinity labeling of desaturases in insect pheromone biosynthetic studies, a series of novel, selectively deuterated CPFA analogues was prepared and characterized. In methyl [16-2H]12,13-methylene-12-hexadecenoate, the incorporation of deuterium was achieved by treatment of the corresponding ω-chloro derivative with sodium borodeuteride in dimethylsulfoxide at 70°C for 24 h (67% yield) following conventional procedures. Alkylation of the tetrahydropyranyl derivative of 13-tridecynol in the presence of lithium diisopropylamide in tetrahydrofuran at −20°C with 1-chloro-3-iodopropane in hexamethylphosphoramide, followed by Jones oxidation of the crude product, yielded 16-chloro-12-hexadecynoic acid (54%), which was esterified to the corresponding methyl ester by treatment with potassium carbonate and methyl iodide in dimethylformamide. Treatment of this acetylenic ester with ethyldiazoacetate in the presence of activated copper-bronze as catalyst followed by hydrolysis in KOH solution at room temperature yielded 16-chloro-12,13-(carboxymethylene)-12-hexadecenoic acid. This diacid was treated with excess oxalyl chloride to give the corresponding diacyl chloride, which was decarbonylated in a diethyl ether solution with zinc chloride, and the cyclopropenium ions thus formed were added at −40°C to a methanolic sodium hydroxide solution of sodium borohydride to give methyl 16-chloro-12,13-methylene-12-hexadecenoate. Analogous procedures were followed to prepare methyl [17-2H]10,11-methylene-10-hexadecenoate, methyl [17-2H]11,12-methylene-11-hexadecenoate and methyl [17-2H]12,13-methylene-12-hexadecenoate from the corresponding diacids using sodium borodeuteride in the reduction of the cyclopropenium ions. Alternatively, methyl [2,2,3,3-2H4]hexadecynoate, prepared by reaction of methyl 2,11-hexadecadiynoate with magnesium in deuterated methanol at room temperature, was submitted to the above cyclopropenylation and reductive decarbonylation sequence to give methyl [2,2,3,3,17-2H5]-11,12-methylene-11-hexadecenoate. In summary, complementary methods for the selective incorporation of one to five deuterium atoms into cyclopropene fatty acids, at different sites, in moderate to high yields have been developed. The methods should easily be applicable to the preparation of the corresponding tritiated analogues.  相似文献

We investigate the complexity of preorder checking when the specification is a flat finite-state system whereas the implementation is either a non-flat finite-state system or a standard timed automaton. In both cases, we show that simulation checking is Exptime-hard, and for the case of a non-flat implementation, the result holds even if there is no synchronization between the parallel components and their alphabets of actions are pairwise disjoint. Moreover, we show that the considered problems become Pspace-complete when the specification is assumed to be deterministic. Additionally, we establish that comparing a synchronous non-flat system with no hiding and a flat system is Pspace-hard for any relation between trace containment and bisimulation equivalence, even if the flat system is assumed to be fixed.  相似文献
