Physalis angulata L (Solanaceae) is a medicinal plant from North of Brazil, whose different extracts and infusions are commonly used in the popular medicine for the treatment of malaria, asthma, hepatitis, dermatitis and rheumatism. However, the genotoxic effects of P. angulata on human cells is not well known. The main purpose of the present study was to evaluate the in vitro genotoxic effects of aqueous extract of P. angulata using the comet assay and the micronucleus assay in human lymphocytes provided from 6 healthy donors. Treatments with P. angulata extracts were performed in vitro in order to access the extent of DNA damage. The comet assay has shown that treatments with P. angulata at 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 6.0 microg/mL in culture medium were genotoxic. Lymphocytes treated with P. angulata at the concentrations of 3.0 and 6.0 microg/mL in culture medium showed a statistically significant increase in the frequency of micronucleus (p<0.05), however, the cytokinesis blocked proliferation index (CBPI) was not decreased after P. angulata treatment. In conclusion, the present work demonstrated the genotoxic effects of P. angulata extract on human lymphocytes in vitro.  相似文献

A fuzzy queue-aware routing approach for wireless mesh networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Recent advances in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) have overcome the drawbacks of traditional wired and ad-hoc networks and now they are seen as a means of allowing last mile communications with quality level assurance in Future Multimedia Systems. However, new routing schemes are needed to provide end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) support for delay/loss/jitter-sensitive multimedia applications. The well-known OLSR (Optimized Link State Routing) protocol with ETX (Expected Transmission Count) metric brings many benefits to the path selection process, but has a drawback with regard to queue availability management, which reduces the system performance. This problem is caused when OLSR-EXT control messages are exchanged and the queues of mesh routers along the end-to-end communication path are overloaded. As a result, multimedia-related packets will suffer from loss/delay/jitter and the overall system performance will decrease. This paper proposes the Optimized Link State Routing-Fuzzy ETX Queue (OLSR-FEQ) protocol to overcome the limitations of OLSR-ETX regarding queue availability, QoS and QoE assurance. OLSR-FEQ optimizes network and user-based parameters by coordinating queue availability, QoS and fuzzy issues in the routing decision process as a way of allocating the best paths for multimedia applications. Performance evaluations were carried out with the Network Simulator (NS-2.34) to show the benefits of the proposed solution when compared with existing routing schemes, namely OLSR-ETX, OLSR-FLC, OLSR-MD and HWMP (IEEE 802.11s standard), regarding QoS (unsuccessful packet delivery and throughput) and QoE (PSNR, SSIM, VQM and MOS) parameters.  相似文献

Today middleware is much more powerful, more reliable and faster than it used to be. Nevertheless, for the application developer, the complexity of using middleware platforms has increased accordingly. The volume and variety of application contexts that current middleware technologies have to support require that developers be able to anticipate the widest possible range of execution environments, desired and undesired effects of different programming strategies, handling procedures for runtime errors, and so on. This paper shows how a generic framework designed to evaluate the usability of notations (the Cognitive Dimensions of Notations Framework, or CDN) has been instantiated and used to analyze the cognitive challenges involved in adapting middleware platforms. This human-centric perspective allowed us to achieve novel results compared to existing middleware evaluation research, typically centered around system performance metrics. The focus of our study is on the process of adapting middleware implementations, rather than in the end product of this activity. Our main contributions are twofold. First, we describe a qualitative CDN-based method to analyze the cognitive effort made by programmers while adapting middleware implementations. And second, we show how two platforms designed for flexibility have been compared, suggesting that certain programming language design features might be particularly helpful for developers.  相似文献

This study investigated the presence of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in raw meat and fish and foods prepared from them for patient consumption in public hospitals in Salvador, Bahia, in northeastern Brazil. A total of 114 samples of raw meat and fish (chicken, n = 30; beef, n = 30; pork, n = 24; and fish, n = 30) and 63 samples of prepared foods (made with chicken, n = 15; beef, n = 15; pork, n = 15; and fish, n = 18) were collected from the kitchens of 10 different hospitals. Of the 114 investigated raw meat and fish samples, 28.1% were positive for MRSA, which comprised 23.3% beef, 23.3% chicken, 37.5% pork, and 30% fish samples. Of the prepared foods, 9.5% were positive for MRSA, which comprised 5.6% chicken products, 6.7% pork products, and 22.2% fish products. MRSA contamination was not detected in prepared beef dishes. A statistical analysis showed no association between the presence of MRSA and the type of raw food (P > 0.05). The high prevalence of MRSA among the raw foods tested and the presence of the microorganism in prepared foods emphasizes the necessity of enforcing hygienic practices within hospital kitchens.  相似文献

The aims of this work were to evaluate the physical and antimicrobial properties of biodegradable films composed of mixtures of κ-carrageenan (κ-car) and locust bean gum (LBG) when organically modified clay Cloisite 30B (C30B) was dispersed in the biopolymer matrix. Film-forming solutions were prepared by adding C30B (ranging from 0 to 16 wt.%) into the κ-car/LBG solution (40/60 wt.%) with 0.3 % (w/v) of glycerol. Barrier properties (water vapour permeability, P vapour; CO2 and O2 permeabilities), mechanical properties (tensile strength, TS, and elongation-at-break, EB) and thermal stability of the resulting films were determined and related with the incorporation of C30B. Also, X-ray diffraction (XRD) was done in order to investigate the effect of C30B in film structure. Antimicrobial effects of these films against Listeria monocytogenes, Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica were also evaluated. The increase of clay concentration causes a decrease of P vapour (from 5.34?×?10?11 to 3.19?×?10?11 g (m s?Pa)?1) and an increase of the CO2 permeability (from 2.26?×?10?14 to 2.91?×?10?14 g (m s?Pa)?1) and did not changed significantly the O2 permeability for films with 0 and 16 wt.% C30B, respectively. Films with 16 wt.% clay exhibited the highest values of TS (33.82 MPa) and EB (29.82 %). XRD patterns of the films indicated that a degree of exfoliation is attained depending on clay concentration. κ-car/LBG–C30B films exhibited an inhibitory effect only against L. monocytogenes. κ-car/LBG–C30B composite films are a promising alternative to synthetic films in order to improve the shelf life and safety of food products.  相似文献

Cellulose, obtained both from sugarcane bagasse and mango seeds, was used for synthesizing cellulose acetate in order to produce asymmetric membranes. These were compared to membranes of commercial cellulose acetate (Rhodia). All produced membranes were asymmetric, characterized by the presence of a dense skin and a porous support. Differences regarding the morphology of the surfaces as well as of the porous support can be noticed. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) showed that the morphology of the superficial layer, responsible for transport, depends on the different lignin content of the starting material and also on the viscosity average molecular weight of the cellulose acetates produced from sugarcane bagasse, mango seed, and Rhodia’s commercial cellulose acetate.  相似文献

Summary Conductive thermoplastic blends of polystyrene and polyaniline doped with dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid, DBSA and polystyrene sulfonic acid were prepared in an internal mixer. We used a block copolymer of styrene and butadiene as compatibilizer. Different formulations were tested according to a statistical response surface method. The electrical conductivity and the microwave radiation absorbing properties of the blends were evaluated. The concentration of the compatibilizer and polyaniline and the blend film thickness affect the attenuation properties of the materials.  相似文献

Biodegradable polymer nanocomposites are an essential alternative to minimize the generation of polymeric solid waste that shows short shelf life and difficult degradation. In this study, nanocomposites based on poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) were prepared by the incorporation of different contents, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00 wt % of graphite nanosheets (GNS), using a solution casting method. The investigation of the PHBV samples biodegradation was made using filamentous fungi (Penicillium funiculosum) in solid medium. Characterization of the material was performed by weight loss, differential scanning calorimetry, carbonyl index determined by Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, roughness, and scanning electron microscopy. Results revealed that PHBV/GNS nanocomposites can be totally degraded in the presence of Penicillium funiculosum; however, it will be necessary high incubation period. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two different carbon/epoxy prepreg materials were characterized and compared using thermal (DSC, TGA, and DMA) and rheological analyses. A prepreg system (carbon fiber preimpregnated with epoxy resin F584) that is currently used in the commercial airplane industry was compared with a prepreg system that is a prospective candidate for the same applications (carbon fiber prepreg/epoxy resin 8552). The differences in the curing kinetics mechanisms of both prepreg systems were identified through the DSC, TGA, DMA, and rheological analyses. Based on these thermal analysis techniques, it was verified that the curing of both epoxy resin systems follow a cure kinetic of n order. Even though their reaction heats were found to be slightly different, the kinetics of these systems were nevertheless very similar. The activation energies for both prepreg systems were determined by DSC analysis, using Arrhenius's method, and were found to be quite similar. DMA measurements of the cured prepregs demonstrated that they exhibited similar degrees of cure and different glass transition temperatures. Furthermore, the use of the rheological analysis revealed small differences in the gel temperatures of the two prepreg systems that were examined.  相似文献

The catalytic properties of 10-MR (membered ring) zeolites (ZSM-5, MCM-22, IM-5, ITQ-2, all with a similar Si/Al ratio of ca. 15) in hybrid Co/SiO2-zeolite catalysts for the direct conversion of syngas to mainly high-octane gasoline-range hydrocarbons has been studied under typical Fischer-Tropsch (FT) conditions: 250 °C, 2.0 MPa, and H2/CO = 2. Special emphasis has been given to the deactivation behavior and the characterization of the amount and nature of the carbonaceous deposits formed by a combination of techniques (elemental analysis, TGA (thermogravimetric analyses), GC–MS, and DR (diffuse reflectance) UV–vis spectroscopy). The presence of the medium-pore zeolite increases the gasoline yield by about 20–50%, depending on the particular zeolite, and enhances the formation of branched products with respect to the base Co/SiO2 catalyst, which is explained by the promotion of isomerization and cracking of long-chain (C13+) n-paraffins formed on the FT component. The initial zeolite activity is mostly determined by the surface acidity rather than by the total amount of Brønsted acid sites, pointing out to the existence of limitations for the diffusion of the long-chain n-paraffins through the 10-MR channels under FT conditions. Thus, ITQ-2 bearing the largest surface area presents the highest initial yield of branched gasoline-range products, followed by ZSM-5, IM-5, and MCM-22. All zeolites experience a loss of activity with TOS, particularly during the initial reaction stages. This deactivation is governed by the morphological and structural properties of the zeolite, which finally determine the amount and location of the coke species, and not by the acidity.  相似文献
