The IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) as a new core network domain. IMS provides a service control platform that allows creation of new multimedia and multi-session applications utilizing wireless and wireline transport capabilities. In this paper we will cover the concepts and standards defining IMS and review the network architecture from a mobile perspective. We will see how IMS interacts with the Packet Switched Domain (e.g. Wireless LAN, GPRS, and UMTS networks), the Internet, and application services. Then we will examine the key IMS capabilities and show how they can be combined to create new mobile IP services. Finally, we present a software architecture, which is enabled by IMS and allows development of unique applications (with multimedia/multi-session functionality, single/multi-user, service to user). LMDS/LMCS is a broadband wireless local loop, millimeter‐wave alternative to emerging integrated multiservice access networks. Significantly large amounts of bandwidth – in the order of one GHz of spectrum – are made available to residential subscribers or supported business users respectively that employ highly directional antennas and signal polarization to establish communication with a central hub. Besides the requirement for dynamic bandwidth allocation capabilities, these networks should be able to guarantee negotiated quality of service (QoS) levels to a number of constant‐length (ATM) – and possibly variable length (TCP/IP) – packet streams. In this context, we analyze the performance of contention, polling/probing and piggybacking mechanisms that will be used by the LMDS MAC protocol for the dynamic support of both real‐time and non‐real‐time traffic streams. More specifically, we focus on the end‐to‐end performance of a real‐time variable bit rate connection for which the LMDS link is only the access component of a multi‐link path through an ATM network. Results are presented on maximum end‐to‐end cell delays under a Weighted Round Robin service discipline and buffer requirements are calculated for no‐loss conditions. In parallel, we also consider the case in which variable length IP packet traffic is supported as such by the same wireless access network. Backbone interconnection alternatives of LMDS hubs, multiple access proposals and scheduling algorithms are addressed in this framework. A full-term, small-for-gestational-age, neonate was born 4 days after rupture of the membranes. On the 5th day of life, she developed sepsis due to Klebsiella pneumoniae. On the 18th day of life, the right hip was noted swollen with limited range of motion, but it was painless on passive movements. Ultrasonography revealed abscess of the right ilio-psoas muscle with normal appearance of the right hip joint. Surgical incision and drainage and antibiotic administration resulted in a gradual full recovery. Ultrasonography can confirm the diagnosis of this exceptional clinical entity in neonates, which is difficult to differentiate from septic arthritis of the hip.  相似文献

Reservation-based bandwidth allocation in a radio ATM network   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The comparative performance of a number of reservation-based bandwidth sharing policies that could be used to maximize the link utilization and/or offer equally fair or preferential treatment to a class of supported users, is examined in the context of a radio asynchronous transfer mode local-area network (ATM LAN). Our analytical results, based an a recursion for the link occupancy distribution originally suggested by Kaufman (1981) and Roberts (1981) independently and subsequently extended to include finite source population models, are further extended in the cases of equal sharing of the resources with retries, and a dynamic sharing mechanism in which, when the available capacity is exceeded, weighted reductions for the active users' rates and queueing are employed. Next, examining the application of the above sharing schemes in an indoor radio environment, we apply switched diversity and a Reed-Solomon-based forward error correction (FEC) scheme to recover radio-related (Rayleigh fading) packet losses. The performance and the effects of the fading-mitigating switched-antenna-diversity mechanism and the required on a packet-basis coding protection are taken into account in order to establish the actual radio link throughput under the above conditions  相似文献
