The properties of catalysts with (i) Brønsted-type acidity (H-mordenite and Al/P mixed oxide), (ii) Lewis-type acidity (Al trifluoride) or (iii) basic characteristics (Mg/Fe mixed oxide) were investigated in the gas-phase methylation of catechol. When methanol was used as the methylating agent, H-mordenite and AlF3 gave high selectivities to guaiacol (the product of O-methylation) under mild reaction conditions, that is at very low catechol conversions. An increase in temperature led to the transformation of guaiacol to phenol and cresols, and to considerable catalyst deactivation. The basic catalyst Mg/Fe/O also favored an extensive degradation of guaiacol to phenol. On the mildly acidic catalyst Al/P mixed oxide a stable catalytic performance and a high selectivity to guaiacol at 40% catechol conversion were obtained. When methylformate, a more reactive methylating agent, was used with AlF3 and Mg/Fe mixed oxide as catalysts, higher catechol conversions and slower deactivation rates could be achieved under mild reaction conditions, with a low extent of guaiacol degradation. However, methylformate rapidly decomposed when temperatures above 350 °C were used. Finally, tests were made by reacting catechol and diethoxymethane with acid catalysts, with the aim of synthesizing methylenedioxybenzene. The latter product was obtained with high selectivity, but with very low yield, due to both catalyst deactivation and decomposition of diethoxymethane.  相似文献

Intermediate products of the metabolism of glucose, fat and amino-acid are important in the evaluation of such metabolic disorders as diabetes mellitus, liver disease and metabolic acidosis. In the present study, methods for the measurement of intermediate metabolites (lactate, pyruvate, alanine, β-hydroxybutyrate and glycerol) have been adapted to a fast centrifugal analyzer: the COBAS FARA. Correlation coeffcients rangedfrom 0.90 to 0.99, compared to established manual spectrophotometric methods. Within-run coeffcients of variation (CVs) ranged between 2.9 and 8.8% at low levels, between 1.5 and 5.7% at medium levels and between 1.2 and 5.6% at high levels. Between-run CVs were between 4.0 and 15.0% at low levels, between 1.7 and 7.0% at medium levels and between 1.3 and 2.7% at high levels. These fluorimetric assays for the determination of intermediate metabolites on COBAS FARA (Roche) have a good sensitivity and precision, are less costly than manual methods and can be used on a routine basis.  相似文献

Measurement uncertainty is traditionally represented in the form of expanded uncertainty as defined through the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement (GUM). The International Organization for Standardization GUM represents uncertainty through confidence intervals based on the variances and means derived from probability density functions. A new approach to the evaluation of measurement uncertainty based on the polynomial chaos theory is presented and compared with the traditional GUM method.  相似文献

A flexible and efficient technique for the analysis of transmission lines is described. The transmission line is considered as the union of « elementary waveguides », where the medium is uniformly stratified. Microwave (MW) radiometry is proposed for passive monitoring of kidney temperature to detect vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) of urine that is externally heated by a MW hyperthermia device and thereafter reflows from the bladder to kidneys during reflux. Here, we characterize in tissue-mimicking phantoms the performance of a 1.375 GHz radiometry system connected to an electromagnetically (EM) shielded microstrip log spiral antenna optimized for VUR detection. Phantom EM properties are characterized using a coaxial dielectric probe and network analyzer (NA). Power reflection and receive patterns of the antenna are measured in layered tissue phantom. Receiver spectral measurements are used to assess EM shielding provided by a metal cup surrounding the antenna. Radiometer and fiberoptic temperature data are recorded for varying volumes (10-30 mL) and temperaturesg (40-46°C) of the urine phantom at 35 mm depth surrounded by 36.5°C muscle phantom. Directional receive pattern with about 5% power spectral density at 35 mm target depth and better than -10 dB return loss from tissue load are measured for the antenna. Antenna measurements demonstrate no deterioration in power reception and effective EM shielding in the presence of the metal cup. Radiometry power measurements are in excellent agreement with the temperature of the kidney phantom. Laboratory testing of the radiometry system in temperature-controlled phantoms supports the feasibility of passive kidney thermometry for VUR detection.  相似文献

Designers of radio-frequency inductively-degenerated CMOS low-noise-amplifiers have usually not followed the guidelines for achieving minimum noise figure. Nonetheless, state-of-the-art implementations display noise figure values very close to the theoretical minimum. In this paper, we point out that this is due to the effect of the parasitic overlap capacitances in the MOS device. In particular, we show that overlap capacitances lead to a significant induced-gate-noise reduction, especially when deep sub-micron CMOS processes are used.Paolo Rossi was born in Milan, Italy, in 1975. He received the Laurea degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy, in 2000, where he is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree. His research interests are in the field of analog integrated circuits for wireless transceivers in CMOS and BiCMOS technology, with particular focus on the analysis and design of LNA and mixer for multi-standard applications.Francesco Svelto received the Laurea and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Pavia, Pavia, Italy, in 1991 and 1995, respectively. From 1996 to 1997, he held a grant from STMicroelectronics to design CMOS RF circuits. Dr. Svelto has been a member of the technical program committee of the IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference since 2000 and the Bipolar/BiCMOS Circuits and Technology Meeting (BCTM) since 2003, and the European Solid State Circuits Conference in 2002. He served as Guest Editor of the March 2003 special issue of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, of which he is currently an Associate Editor.Andrea Mazzanti was born in Modena (Italy) in 1976. He received the Laurea degree (summa cum Laude) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy in 2001. Since 2001 he is pursuing his PhD in Electrical Engineering at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. His major research interest are modelling of microwave semiconductor devices and design of CMOS RF integrated circuits, with particular focus on low noise oscillators and analog frequency dividers. During the summer of 2003 he was with Agere Systems, Allentown, PA as an internship student, working on the design of an highly integrated CMOS FM transmitter.Pietro Andreani received the M.S.E.E. from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1988. He joined the Dept. of Applied Electronics, Lund University, Sweden, in 1990, where he contributed to the development of software tools for digital ASIC design. After working at the Dept. of Applied Electronics, University of Pisa, as a CMOS IC designer during 1994, he rejoined the Dept. of Applied Electronics in Lund as an Associate Professor, where he was responsible for the analog IC course package between 1995 and 2001, and where he received the Ph.D. degree in 1999. He is currently a Professor at the Center for Physical Electronics, ØrstedDTU, Technical University of Denmark, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark, with analog/RF CMOS IC design as main research field.  相似文献

This paper presents a complete thermal analysis of a novel conformal surface thermometer design with directional sensitivity for real-time temperature monitoring during hyperthermia treatments of large superficial cancer. The thermal monitoring sheet (TMS) discussed in this paper consists of a 2-D array of fiberoptic sensors embedded between two layers of flexible, low-loss, and thermally conductive printed circuit board (PCB) film. Heat transfer across all interfaces from the tissue surface through multiple layers of insulating dielectrics surrounding the small buried temperature sensor and into an adjacent temperature-regulated water coupling bolus was studied using 3-D thermal simulation software. Theoretical analyses were carried out to identify the most effective differential TMS probe configuration possible with commercially available flexible PCB materials and to compare their thermal responses with omnidirectional probes commonly used in clinical hyperthermia. A TMS sensor design that employs 0.0508-mm Kapton MTB and 0.2032-mm Kapton HN flexible polyimide films is proposed for tissue surface thermometry with low influence from the adjacent waterbolus. Comparison of the thermal simulations with clinical probes indicates the new differential TMS probe design to outperform in terms of both transient response and steady-state accuracy in selectively reading the tissue surface temperature, while decreasing the overall thermal barrier of the probe between the coupling waterbolus and tissue surface.   相似文献
