Surface effects in atomically flat colloidal CdSe nanoplatelets (NLPs) are significantly and increasingly important with their thickness being reduced to subnanometer level, generating strong surface related deep trap photoluminescence emission alongside the bandedge emission. Herein, colloidal synthesis of highly luminescent two‐monolayer (2ML) CdSe NPLs and a systematic investigation of carrier dynamics in these NPLs exhibiting broad photoluminescence emission covering the visible region with quantum yields reaching 90% in solution and 85% in a polymer matrix is shown. The astonishingly efficient Stokes‐shifted broadband photoluminescence (PL) emission with a lifetime of ≈100 ns and the extremely short PL lifetime of around 0.16 ns at the bandedge signify the participation of radiative midgap surface centers in the recombination process associated with the underpassivated Se sites. Also, a proof‐of‐concept hybrid LED employing 2ML CdSe NPLs is developed as color converters, which exhibits luminous efficacy reaching 300 lm Wopt?1. The intrinsic absorption of the 2ML CdSe NPLs (≈2.15 × 106 cm?1) reported in this study is significantly larger than that of CdSe quantum dots (≈2.8 × 105 cm?1) at their first exciton signifying the presence of giant oscillator strength and hence making them favorable candidates for next‐generation light‐emitting and light‐harvesting applications. 相似文献

In view of its excellent wear and corrosion resistance, AISI 440C steel is the material of choice for the fabrication of ball screws used in actuator systems of satellite launch vehicles. During the routine acceptance test of a ball screw, longitudinal cracks were observed at the shaft location of the ball screw. The optical microstructure of the ball screw material (AISI 440C) revealed the presence of aligned carbides (carbide banding). Fractographic observations revealed the cracking to be along the carbide bands. Based on detailed optical and scanning electron microscopic observations, the cracking of the ball screws was attributed to the carbide bands. 相似文献

Precipitation-hardened stainless steel of 15-5PH grade was used for the fabrication of forward cylinder used in advanced linear
actuator of aircraft. The component had undergone a series of qualification tests. During one of the accelerated fatigue tests,
an external leak was observed after experiencing more than 1,50,000 cycles of fluctuating stress. Subsequent to disassembly,
the leak was found to be because of the hair line cracks in the forward cylinder. The cracked component was subjected to a
detailed metallurgical investigation to understand the cause of failure. The failure analysis revealed that the fracture initiated
at the hard chrome layer and propagated under cyclic loading. This premature failure of the component was attributed to the
surface roughness and the presence of the hard chrome layer at the corner contour of the component. This article brings out

This paper brings a failure case study of high strength 0.35C–3.5Ni–1.5Cr–0.5Mo steel fastener, which failed due to hydrogen-induced intergranular stress corrosion cracking (HI-IGSCC). 0.35C–3.5Ni–1.5Cr–0.5Mo steel in hardened and tempered condition, meeting the specified axial tensile stress rating of 1250 MPa is widely used as fasteners in space programmes.In the course of assembly of the structural parts of a satellite launch vehicle, 10 nos of fasteners developed cracks on tightening using a torque wrench set to 6 N m torque surprisingly.Also some fasteners, which were under assembly load of more than 6 months in the same vehicle assembly, were found to be cracked.The failure was attributed to hydrogen-induced intergranular stress corrosion cracking (HI-IGSCC). The details of the analysis and mechanism involved in the HI-IGSCC are presented in detail.Detailed metallurgical analyses of the cracked fasteners support the successive steps of the corrosion enhanced plasticity model, which is based on a local softening in the SCC crack region. The mechanism of a dislocation pileup ahead of a crack under corrosion and stress due to diffusing hydrogen promotes stress concentration against micro-obstacle and caused failure. 相似文献

For establishing selective laser sintering in manufacturing technology, a wide knowledge about the influence of processing variables on the quality of sintered part is mandatory. In this regard, this article addresses the influence of key process parameters (i.e., bed temperature, laser power, beam speed, hatch distance, hatch length) on the dynamic mechanical properties of laser-sintered glass-filled polyamide specimens to enhance their service life. A face-centered central composite design of response surface methodology was employed to gather data, and mathematical models were developed to investigate the effects and interactions of selected input processing variables on the different performance characteristics. Experiments revealed that dynamic mechanical properties reduced with decrease in bed temperature. This was due to nonuniform fusion of powder particles and increased porosity. Specimens fabricated at high energy density (ED) were strong, solid, and isotropic but become weak, porous, and anisotropic, as the ED decreased. Poor material integrity and weak interparticle bonding were the main reasons of low dynamic mechanical strength. In addition, microstructural analysis was also performed to examine the surface morphology of sintered specimens. Further, optimum working conditions for producing parts with maximum dynamic mechanical response were determined. 相似文献

Structural, dielectric, magnetic and magnetoelectric properties of polycrystalline Sr doped BiFe0.8Ti0.2O3 ceramics [Bi1?xSrx(Fe0.8Ti0.2)O3; x = 0.05, 0.10 and 0.15)] were studied. All the samples were prepared by rapid liquid phase sintering method. Rietveld refinement of X-ray diffraction patterns of all samples confirmed that the samples crystallize in a rhombohedral structure and showed change in Fe–O–Fe bond angle and Fe–O bond length which in turn enhanced magnetization from 0.33 to 0.73 emu/g with the increase in Sr concentration from x = 0.05 to 0.15. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss were observed to increase with the increase in temperature from 30 to 500 °C. An anomalous peak has been observed in dielectric constant versus temperature plot around 300 °C for all the samples, which is close to the magnetic transition temperature of BiFeO3. The composition-dependent magnetic properties with the expected Fe2+/Fe3+ ratio fluctuations were correlated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Magnetic and electric hysteresis loops showed a systematic increase in magnetization and polarization as a result of Sr doping in BiFe0.8Ti0.2O3 ceramics. The value of magnetocapacitance at 10 kHz was observed as 0.95, 1.23 and 1.73 for x = 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 respectively in Bi1?xSrxFe0.80Ti0.20O3 ceramics. 相似文献
