R-curves of energy dissipative materials Part 2: Experimental evaluation of J-R curves A hypothesis regarding the conversion of mechanical into thermal energies within the nonlocal damage region is formulated to model the fracture behaviour of energy dissipative materials with rising crack resistance characteristics. The material's capacity to develop nonlocal damage beyond blunting is assumed to decrease with the actual damage level. This decrease relates linearly with the remaining resources of the material in dissipating energy. generation has been a key factor in allowing these methods to translate. For both surface-based liquid-in-gas generation and
lab-on-a-chip-based liquid-in-liquid generation, the ability to create small monodisperse liquid droplets is critically important
in constructing reliable and practical devices. This article reviews liquid microdroplet generation in gaseous and liquid
environments, covering the general characteristics of generators and the specific methods and technologies used for generation.
Furthermore, this study compiles the issues encountered when operating generators, and the measurements and instrumentation
used to characterize generated droplets. Applications of droplet generation in printing, analysis, synthesis and manufacturing

The new composite material Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) is a promising development which may open up entirely new fields for the application of the construction material concrete. Megakaryocytes release submicron size microparticles (MkMPs) in circulation. We have shown that MkMPs target CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs) to induce megakaryocytic differentiation, and that small RNAs in MkMPs play an important role in the development of this phenotype. Here, using single-molecule real-time (SMRT) RNA sequencing (RNAseq), we identify the synergetic effect of two microRNAs (miRs), miR-486-5p and miR-22-3p (highly enriched in MkMPs), in driving the Mk differentiation of HSPCs in the absence of thrombopoietin (TPO). Separately, our data suggest that the MkMP-induced Mk differentiation of HSPCs is enabled through JNK and PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling. The interaction between the two signaling pathways is likely mediated by a direct target of miR-486-5p and a negative regulator of PI3K/Akt signaling, the phosphatase and tensin homologue (PTEN) protein. Our data provide a possible mechanistic explanation of the biological effect of MkMPs in inducing megakaryocytic differentiation of HSPCs, a phenotype of potential physiological significance in stress megakaryopoiesis. 相似文献

Due to rapid change of fiber orientation, it is difficult to measure myocardial impedivity separately in a longitudinal or transverse fiber direction without mutual influence in the two directions. Previously published values of the longitudinal and the transverse myocardial impedivity were derived indirectly from measurements that mixed the impedivity in all directions. Those values are questionable because the derivations were based on a simplified uniform myocardial fiber model. In this paper, a miniature rectangular tube was devised to facilitate direct measurement of myocardial impedivity in a uniform fiber direction. The average transverse-to-longitudinal ratio of the measured in vitro swine myocardial impedivity was about 1.66 from 1 Hz to 1 kHz and dropped to 1.25 at 1 MHz. The result is important for accurate modeling of the electrical property of myocardium in biomedical research of radio-frequency cardiac catheter ablation. 相似文献
