Physically based simulation of human hair is a well studied and well known problem. But the “pure” physically based representation of hair (and other animation elements) is not the only concern of the animators, who want to “control” the creation and animation phases of the content. This paper describes a sketch-based tool, with which a user can both create hair models with different styling parameters and produce animations of these created hair models using physically and key frame-based techniques. The model creation and animation production tasks are all performed with direct manipulation techniques in real-time.  相似文献

The job of a manager continues to be one of achieving outcomes through other people. However, in the current work environment, managers are finding that while their scope of responsibility is expanding, the traditional power base used to excourage high performance is shrinking. There are limited rewards a manager can use to gain commitment from their staff. Even if some of those rewards are available, many of the new employees do not see them as motivators. Employees come to the workplace with a different set of expectations. There seems to be a mismatch between the traditional management approach to getting the best from the worker and what the worker wants from their manager. In as much as the workplace and the worker are changing so too must manager's approach to "getting the job done."  相似文献

The aim of this study was to gauge the effect of an artificially established flora, unnatural for mice, on the induction of oral candidosis in mice. Four groups of BALB/c mice were compared; conventional Candida albicans-free mice, "germ-free" mice which had been inoculated with Candida-free human saliva, germ-free mice which had been exposed to a cocktail of Streptococcus mitis, S. sobrinus and S. sanguis, and uncontaminated germ-free mice. After exposure to C. albicans via drinking water, the four groups of mice were killed and their oral cavities examined for candidal growth and oral lesions. Conventional mice yielded significantly less candidal growth and exhibited significantly fewer oral lesions than the other three groups. Candidal lesions in the two groups of contaminated germ-free mice were significantly fewer than in the uncontaminated germ-free mice. The latter exhibited extensive candidal lesions with little inflammatory infiltrate. It is concluded that mice with human oral micro-organisms have some resistance against candidal infection albeit at a reduced level, that mice with natural oral flora are highly resistant, and that germ-free mice are extremely susceptible to C. albicans infection.  相似文献

As the sensitivity of the new in vitro cancer detection techniques increases, a larger number of "false positive" results can be expected from control populations apparently free from malignant disease at the time of the test. An attempt is made to predict the number of unexplained positives, together with the expected age and sex distribution, using published cancer registration statistics. The predicted numbers are compared with the observed numbers of unexplained positives in two clinical trials of the MEM test.  相似文献

Coplanar lines of different orientations rotating in depth and viewed in parallel projection may appear to rotate in different directions and reverse independently of each other, or they may appear coplanar and all reverse together. The frequency of the latter "grouped" appearance for lines with an orientation range of 30 degrees was a function of the number of lines in a given space. Grouping was greater for lines converging to an implicit vanishing point and for lines with collinear edges regardless of their orientations. Line length, and by inference, interline separation also had effect of the nature of the response.  相似文献

In the past decade, remarkable progress has been made in the domain of augmented reality/virtual reality (AR/VR). The need for realistic and immersive augmentation has propelled the development of haptics interfaces-enabled AR/VR. The haptics interfaces facilitate direct interaction and manipulation with both real and virtual objects, thus augmenting the perception and experiences of the users. The level of augmentation can be significantly improved by thermal stimulation or sensing, which facilitates a higher degree of object identification and discrimination. This review discusses the thermal technology-enabled augmented reality and summarizes the recent progress in the development of different thermal technology such as thermal haptics including thermo-resistive heater and Peltier devices, thermal sensors including resistive, pyroelectric, and thermoelectric sensors, which can be utilized to improve the realism of augmentation. The fundamental mechanism, design strategies, and the rational guidelines for the adoption of these technologies in AR/VR is explicitly discussed. The conclusion provides an outlook on the existing challenges and outlines the future roadmap for the realization of next-generation thermo-haptics enabled augmented reality.  相似文献

The laminin peptide fragments GYIGSR-NH2 and CDPGYIGSR-NH2 are known to bind to a 67-kDa laminin receptor. This receptors is understood to be expressed at higher than normal levels in malignant tumor cells, particularly those of breast and colon carcinomas. Peptides DTPA-GYIGSR-NH2 (1), DTPA-(GYIGSR-NH2)2 (2), DTPA-CDPGYIGSR-NH2 (3), DTPA-(CDPGYIGSR-NH2)2 (4), and negative control DTPA-GAGAGA-NH2 (5) were prepared by solid-phase peptide synthesis. All five DTPA-conjugated peptides were subsequently radiolabeled with 111In and their tissue distribution evaluated in mice bearing C3H tumors. 111In-3 and 111In-4 showed the highest specific tumor localization. These preliminary data support further study of radiolabeled petide fragments for the potential detection of malignant tumors of the breast and other organs.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, characterization and optical limiting behavior of a nanohybrid built by grafting C60-fullerenes on carbon nanotubes (CNTs). The nonlinear optical limiting properties of the CNT-C60 complex were investigated at wavelengths where C60 does not absorb. We found that the nanohybrid had superior performances to those of CNTs and fullerenes, either taken individually or as a mixture. This enhanced optical limitation of the nanohybrid suggests not only cooperative but also synergistic effects between the two carbon forms. A mechanism involving higher excitonic states of the CNTs formed by Auger recombination of low energy excitons is proposed.  相似文献

The wide band gap of complex oxides is one of the major obstacles limiting their use in photovoltaic cells. To tune the bandgap of complex oxides, nano-sized bismuth titanate-based powders were synthesized by conventional solid reaction method. X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed that all powders were crystallized in an orthorhombic structure. The photoluminescence signal shows that there was no contribution to the optical bandgap from unwanted oxygen vacancy. The UV-vis absorption spectra of LaCo-BiT powder showed that the optical bandgap drastically decreased from 3.1eV to 2.5eV, while those of of BiT and La-BiT showed change in the optical bandgap. From these observations, we could experimentally confirm that cobalt atoms were responsible for the modification of the electronic structure in BiT-based oxides. This approach to controlling the bandgap could be applied to other complex oxides materials, such as other types of Aurivillius phase materials for use in emerging oxide optoelectronic and energy applications.  相似文献
