Rheological behaviour of 48 Swiss-type cheese samples in lubricated uniaxial compression was evaluated at three initial strain rates ranging from 4·76 × 10−3 to 7·62 × 10−2 s−1. Modulus, apparent fracture stress and apparent fracture strain increased significantly with increasing strain rate, which is attributed to the viscoelastic nature of cheese. The influence of strain rate on apparent fracture strain strongly depended on the shape of the stress-strain curves. The relationship between the rheological parameters evaluated at different strain rates proved to be significant. The strain rate dependency of the apparent fracture strain is further explained by the contribution of elastic and viscous components, which was evaluated in relaxation experiments in the linear viscoelastic region. 相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new application of the sevenpinhole (7P) collimator: tomographic imaging of the thyroid. The collimator design has been reoptimized for this particular application by diminishing the distance from the collimator plate to the crystal and by choosing a smaller pinhole diameter. To reconstruct thyroid images from the two-dimensional projection data we use a method which we developed for 7P tomographic imaging of the heart [1]. Phantom experiments and patient studies demonstrate that this new device is capable of producing tomographic images of good quality and high resolution. The rheological behaviour of cementitious pastes where cement has increasingly been replaced by densified silica fume (SF), untreated SF or limestone has been studied. The effect of SF on the flow resistance, taken as the area under the flow curve, was found to depend on the dispersing ability of the plasticizer as illustrated by pastes with naphtalene sulphonate-formaldehyde condensate (SNF) and polyether grafted polyacrylate (PA).The gel strengths increased with increasing SF replacement of cement independently of plasticizer type. The cementitious gel strength was, however, depending on the type of SF since pastes with densified SF developed lower gel strengths than pastes with untreated SF. This phenomenon was attributed to agglomerates in the densified SF which remained unbroken by the mixing and measurement sequence.Both flow resistance and gel strength decreased with increasing limestone replacement. Thus, silica fume may have an advantage over limestone filler as stabilizing agent for self-compacting concrete preventing segregation upon standing and reduced form pressure due to a more rapid gel formation. 相似文献

In this paper we discuss the potentialities of a time-coded single photon emissive imaging system for thyroid tomography. We have performed three-dimensional simulation studies in order to answer two questions: 1) does this coded aperture device produce good quality reconstructions, and 2) can the reconstruction be carried out sufficiently fast on a microcomputer. Our study leads to the conclusion that both questions can be answered affirmatively. Hence, time-coded emission tomography is a potentially useful imaging technique for diagnostic clinical practice. 相似文献

This paper investigates the influence of anisotropy and destructuration on the behavior of a test embankment on soft clay. The test embankment at Murro, Finland, was commissioned in 1993 by the Finnish Road Administration and has been monitored for over 10?years. The construction and consolidation of Murro test embankment is analyzed with finite element method using three different constitutive models to represent the soft soil. The results are compared with field observations. The constitutive models used include two recently proposed constitutive models, namely S-CLAY1 that accounts for initial and plastic strain induced anisotropy and its extension, called S-CLAY1S. The S-CLAY1S model accounts, additionally, for interparticle bonding and degradation of bonds. For comparison, the test embankment is also analyzed using the isotropic Modified Cam Clay model. The simulations demonstrate that for this type of problem, it is important to account for the anisotropy, whereas destructuration appears to have less influence on predicted deformations. However, only a model incorporating destructuration can explain the decrease in undrained shear strength during consolidation that was measured in field. 相似文献

We present a new solver for coupled nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs). The solver is based on pseudo-spectral collocation with domain decomposition and can handle one- to three-dimensional problems. It has three distinct features. First, the combined problem of solving the PDE, satisfying the boundary conditions, and matching between different subdomains is cast into one set of equations readily accessible to standard linear and nonlinear solvers. Second, touching as well as overlapping subdomains are supported; both rectangular blocks with Chebyshev basis functions as well as spherical shells with an expansion in spherical harmonics are implemented. Third, the code is very flexible: The domain decomposition as well as the distribution of collocation points in each domain can be chosen at run time, and the solver is easily adaptable to new PDEs. The code has been used to solve the equations of the initial value problem of general relativity and should be useful in many other problems. We compare the new method to finite difference codes and find it superior in both runtime and accuracy, at least for the smooth problems considered here. 相似文献
