The satellite-based regression model provides the data model that identifies water quality for inland and coastal waters. However, the satellite regression usually depends on the selection of observation, satellite data, and model type. A resampling simulation technique, such as sequential simulation using geographically weighted regression (GWR simulation), can be applied in generating multiple realizations for water quality estimation to reduce the sampling effect and consider spatial heterogeneity. Traditional models often result in considerable underestimation in extreme observations. The GWR simulation provides the best goodness of fit and spatial varying relationship between observed water quality and remote sensing considering parameter outlier and noise removal for parameter stability. This simulation model can increase the sampling diversity from various observations and reduce the neighboring effects of observations using outlier and noise removal. The model that handles spatial uncertainty and heterogeneity is a novel tool for inferring the characteristics of water quality from a series of sample subsets.

The widespread use of the Internet and the convenient mechanism it provides, such as easy access, easy downloads, and easy copy and paste functions have made many types of unethical behaviors easier, particularly those involving students in academic settings. Among the issues in ethics within the academic environment that can be triggered by the Internet are fraudulence, plagiarism, falsification, delinquency, unauthorized help, and facility misuse. Given these issues, the study seeks to investigate the extent to which students at a public university in Malaysia engage in such unethical behavior and their relationship with the big five personality model. This study was conducted using a survey method of 252 students in three different academic faculties. The results of factor analyses confirm and refine the reliability of the scales for both big five personality variables and unethical Internet behaviors as conceptualized through Internet triggered academic dishonesty (ITADS). The findings indicate that personality traits such as (1) agreeableness, (2) conscientiousness and (3) emotional stability are significantly and negatively correlated with unethical Internet behavior in university students. Significant differences in facility misuse are also observed between the three academic faculties investigated. This research should provide significant contributions to educators in designing the computer ethics curriculum and in allowing for educational institutions as well as other organizations in developing relevant policies and guidelines on matters pertaining to academic conduct, utilization of computers and Internet, and recruitment exercises.  相似文献

This paper proposes an alternating bending technique for evaluating fatigue life in the low‐to‐high cycle fatigue regime. A method was developed for estimating the stress, elastic strain, and plastic strain ranges of a plastically deformed specimen subjected to alternating bending with consideration of stress and strain distributions. To evaluate its effectiveness, fatigue testing was conducted using a specimen made of a steel used for pressure vessels. The stress, elastic strain, and plastic strain ranges could be obtained during cyclic bending. The elastic strain amplitude life and plastic strain amplitude life curves were linear in a log–log plot in the low‐to‐high cycle fatigue regime. Hence, the fatigue life under alternating bending could be evaluated using the proposed strain‐based approach. However, these curves could not be predicted using equations with parameters obtained from tensile testing, such as the universal slope method, due to the strain gradient in the specimen.  相似文献

A composition of starch and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) was prepared as the binder and a mixture of this binder with 316L stainless steel powder was used to achieve a feedstock with 57% vol. powder loading. Rheological specifications of the binder and the feedstock were observed by means of capillary rheometery. Pseudo-plastic behavior of the binder and feedstock was investigated as a necessity in metal injection molding (MIM) process by proper flow characterization tests and their viscosity as the most significant flow characteristic was obtained in acceptable ranges. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was carried out on feedstock in order to understand decomposition behavior of the binder components. In the next step, injection molding of the components was successfully conducted. Mechanical properties of compacts were then investigated through the triple point flexure test and the results showed that mechanical strength of specimens are very close to established ranges. The density of green parts was measured to assess the compaction of feedstock and it was achieved within the expected range for ferrous-based feedstocks. Debinding process was accomplished on compacted articles at three different temperature ranges including 70, 80 and 90 °C. Sintering process also was successfully accomplished on samples. For observing microstructures, the surface and cross section of specimens were compared before and after debinding as well as after sintering using scanning electron macrograph (SEM). Generally, this newly developed binder demonstrated a good potential for being utilized in MIM process.  相似文献

Xanthine oxidase (XO) plays an important role in the regulation of uric acid and prevents it from being overproduced as in hyperuricemia disease. The combined effects of antioxidant and xanthine oxidase inhibitor would become a promising approach for hyperuricemia treatment. In this research, the antioxidant and xanthine oxidase inhibitory activities of Pandanus amaryllifolius leaf were evaluated. The leaf water extract (PA‐W) showed highest total phenols, and petroleum ether extract (PA‐PE) showed highest total flavonoids contents. The antioxidant activity of DPPH, metal chelating and hydrogen peroxide was highest in PA‐W extract. The treatment of PA‐W extract at 1000 mg kg?1 body weight in potassium oxonate‐induced hyperuricemic rats showed significant (< 0.001) decrease in serum uric acid level by 85% and XO activity by 64%, respectively, as compared to the hyperuricemic rats. In conclusion, the P. amaryllifolius possess the dual effect of antioxidant and XO inhibition as potential therapeutic agents in the hyperuricemia treatment.  相似文献

In the quest on improving composite formulations for environmental sustainability, maleic acid (MA) cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)-α-chitin composites reinforced by oil palm empty fruit bunch fibers (OPEFB)-derived nanocellulose crystals (NCC) had been successfully prepared. Based on the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopic analysis, it was proven that molecular interactions of the cross-linker to the polymeric networks was through conjugated ester linkage. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that the influence of MA was minimal toward crystallization in the PVA/chitin/NCC composite. Maximum tensile strength, elongation at break and Young's modulus of the respective PVA/chitin/NCC composites were achieved at different content of MA, dependent on the PVA/chitin mass ratio. Among all compositions, a maximum Young's modulus was achieved at 30 wt% MA loading in PVA/chitin-30/NCC, amounting to 2,413.81 ± 167.36 MPa. Moreover, the mechanical properties and selected physicochemical properties (swelling, gel content, and contact angle) of the PVA/chitin/NCC composites could be tailored by varying the chitin content (10–30 wt%) and MA content (10–50 wt% based on total mass of composite). In brief, this chemically cross-linked PVA-based biocomposites formulated with sustainable resources exhibited tunable physicochemical and mechanical properties.  相似文献

The structure and thermal properties of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3−δ-SDC carbonate (LSCF-SDC carbonate) composite cathodes were investigated with respect to the calcination temperatures and the weight content of the samarium-doped ceria (SDC) carbonate electrolyte. The composite cathode powder has been prepared from La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3−δ and SDC carbonate powders using the high-energy ball milling technique in air at room temperature. Different powder mixtures at 30 wt%, 40 wt% and 50 wt% of SDC carbonate were calcined at 750-900 °C. The findings indicated that the structure and thermal properties of the composite cathodes were responsive to the calcination temperature and the content of SDC carbonate. The absence of any new phases as confirmed via XRD analysis demonstrated the excellent compatibility between the cathode and electrolyte materials. The particle size of the composite cathode powder was ∼0.3-0.9 μm having a surface area of 4-15 m2 g−1. SEM investigation revealed the presence of large particles in the resultant powders resulting from the increased calcination temperature. The composite cathode containing 50 wt% SDC carbonate was found to exhibit the best thermal expansion compatibility with the electrolyte.  相似文献

The influence of molecularly imprinted polymer‐methacrylic acid functionalized β‐cyclodextrin (MIP(MAA‐β‐CD)) morphology on the adsorption behavior studies towards benzylparaben (BzP) was explored. The effects of time, concentration, and temperature towards BzP uptake were extensively evaluated. The adsorption performance of MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) was compared with that on the molecularly imprinted polymer‐methacrylic acid (MIP(MAA)) synthesized without β‐CD. The MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) was synthesized to obtain a spherical and spongy‐porous texture with a broad pore size distribution. The MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) showed fast kinetic and the intra‐particle diffusion model demonstrated a three step (surface and pore) adsorption process. The Koble‐Corrigan isotherm was the most suitable model for data fitting, which indicated that MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) had homogeneous and heterogeneous surfaces. This finding clearly demonstrated that the large uptake and strong affinity of MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) did not only probably result from the monomer‐template interactions, but also due to the morphological MIP(MAA‐β‐CD) structure. In contrary to MIP(MAA‐β‐CD), MIP(MAA) synthesized with uniform morphology and narrow pore size distribution had lower adsorption capacities and its kinetic data fitted the pseudo‐second order diffusion model, indicating a two‐step (surface only) adsorption process. The MIP(MAA) adsorption process followed the Langmuir isotherm model referred to solely homogeneous uptake. The calculated thermodynamic parameters showed that the BzP uptake was exothermic, spontaneous, and physisorption process onto MIPs, which supported the results of kinetics and isotherm adsorption data. This study clearly revealed that the presence of β‐CD improved the morphology of synthesized MIP, and automatically enhanced the adsorption behavior of MIP. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. The effect of the frying temperature, frying duration and the addition of NaCl on the formation of 3‐monochloropropane‐1,2‐diol (3‐MCPD) esters and glycidyl esters (GE) in palm olein after deep frying was examined in this study. The eight frying systems were deep‐fat frying (at 160 and 180 °C) of chicken breast meat (CBM) (with 0, 1, 3 and 5% sodium chloride, NaCl) for 100 min/day for five consecutive days. All oil samples collected after each day were analyzed for 3‐MCPD ester, GE, and free fatty acid (FFA) contents, specific extinctions at 232 and 268 nm (K232 and K268), p‐anisidine value (pA), and fatty acid composition. There was a significant (p < 0.05) decrease in the 3‐MCPD esters and a significant (p < 0.05) decrease in the GE with the increasing of the frying duration. There were significant (p < 0.05) increases in the 3‐MCPD esters formed when the concentration of NaCl increased from 0 to 5%. The addition of NaCl to the CBM during deep frying had no significant effect on the GE generation. The FFA contents, K232 and K268 and pA showed that all the frying oils were within the safety limit.  相似文献
