Steel–steel ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate adhesive bonds have been thermally aged and the polymeric material isolated from the glue line. Molecular weight measurement by gel permeation chromatography suggest that a significant degree of post-curing occurs followed by a slight decrease in molecular weight. This decrease in molar mass is not considered large enough to explain the observed decrease in bond strength. It is postulated that poly(ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate) undergoes thermal degradation in a manner similar to that reported for poly(methyl methacrylate). The loss in bond strength is thought to be due to the disruption of the polymer–metal interface by monomer molecules produced during the thermal depolymerization. 相似文献

Several factors affecting the amylose content of sorghum, as determined by an automated iodine-blue complex method, were evaluated. Isolation of starch reduced the optimum solubilization time of the endosperm starch by 36 h. Amylose as % of isolated starch was significantly greater than amylose as % in the endosperm. However, amylose as % of starch in endosperm (“apparent” amylose content) was highly significantly correlated (r = 0.79) with amylose as % of isolated starch (“true” amylose content) that it could be used for screening sorghum in a breeding program. Pericarp and testa colors significantly affected the measurable amylose of unpearled sorghum flour. This paper presents a study of the optimization of the gold plating thickness for the use of both wire bonding and soldered interconnects on a flexible printed circuit board sample module. Wire bondability is typically better, when the gold plating thickness is greater than 30 μin.; however, the risk of problems with solder joint embrittlement becomes a concern with thick gold plating. In order to better understand the effect of the gold plating thickness on wire bondability and solder joint embrittlement, an evaluation was performed on samples with three ranges of gold plating thicknesses (10–20 μin., 20–30 μin., and 30–45 μin.), on flexible printed circuit board (PCB), substrates. Mechanical shear testing and metallurgical analyses were conducted on chip component solder joints in this three thickness gold study. Thermal shock and drop testing were conducted to evaluate the reliability of the sample modules. Drop testing is especially critical for determining the reliability of the sample modules, which are used in portable consumer electronics products. Reliability testing and metallurgical analyses have been performed to characterize the effect of gold embrittlement on the mechanical integrity of the solder joints with a gold content ranging from 1 to 4 wt.%. 相似文献

The Craig-Scott double upright knee ankle orthosis was subjected to a biomechanical evaluation which included analysis of the force interaction with the supported limb and a functional evaluation. The results were compared with data previously determined from biomechanical evaluations of other common orthoses. In the Craig-Scott design, the single application of the knee stabilizing force below the knee concentrates this force in a relatively small bony area, sometimes exceeding tolerance. This might be avoided by using a tibial closure with patellar tendon bearing features. The design was found to produce relatively low anatomic knee shear. In functional aspects such as donning, doffing, transfers and ambulation, the orthosis is essentially equivalent to other double upright designs. The rigidity of the orthosis with only a tibial band closure and a bail connecting the uprights was determined to be adequate. The limited number of bands and closures provides some advantages in reduced donning and doffing time; however, in the absence of posterior closures below the knee, the orthosis had a tendency to slide forward off the leg when transferring. This disadvantage was eliminated by adding a soft posterior closure below the knee, which produced a minimal increase in donning and doffing times. 相似文献
