Chlorination of a low molecular weight polystyrene in the α position was studied by following changes in the infrared spectrum, glass transition temperature, and molecular weights of the polymer. The logarithm of the absorbance ratio at 2920 and 1500 cm?1 as a function of mole per cent chlorination was linear. The glass transition temperatures, determined by use of a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), were found to obey an equation developed by Dyvik for copolymers. The molecular weight of the chlorinated polystyrene decreased as a function of chlorination. 相似文献

The goal of this research was to operationalize the information technology infrastructure (ITI) concept by identifying its underlying dimensions and establishing a valid and reliable measure for the construct. In order to accomplish this task with the highest degree of certainty, two approaches were sequentially applied: exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. In evaluating the confirmatory factor model, a step-by-step process was employed, assessing unidimensionality, reliability, discriminant validity, and nomological validity. The dimensions of ITI were determined to be: Chief Information Officer, IT Planning, IT Security, Technology Integration, Advisory Committee, Enterprise Model, and Data Administration. Researchers may now make use of this validated ITI measure to conduct investigations of ITI and other organizational measures. Implications of the ITI measure with other organizational initiatives such as electronic commerce and knowledge management are explored. 相似文献

The performance analysis of packet switched networks usually does not account for the loss of transmission bandwidth caused by the switch processing time. In wide area networks, where transmission channels are of the order of 64 kbps or less, this is a valid approach since switch processing time is negligible compared to average transmission times for packets. However, in Local Area Networks (LANs), the transmission channels are usually of the order of 1 mbps or greater and thus when evaluating the performance of a LAN that is based on a packet switch, it is necessary to consider the effect of the switch processing time which is now comparable to that of the average packet's transmission time. This paper investigates the effect of this processing time on network performance, and an exhaustive cyclic queueing algorithm to minimise this effect on overall network performance is discussed. An approximate analytical technique for evaluating the performance of such a LAN is derived. This technique makes it possible to do interactive calculations which can be used in the provisioning and configuring of such networks. 相似文献

We present a global optimization strategy that incorporates predicted restraints in both a local optimization context and as directives for global optimization approaches, to predict protein tertiary structure for alpha-helical proteins. Specifically, neural networks are used to predict the secondary structure of a protein, restraints are defined as manifestations of the network with a predicted secondary structure and the secondary structure is formed using local minimizations on a protein energy surface, in the presence of the restraints. Those residues predicted to be coil, by the network, define a conformational sub-space that is subject to optimization using a global approach known as stochastic perturbation that has been found to be effective for Lennard-Jones clusters and homo-polypeptides. Our energy surface is an all-atom 'gas phase' molecular mechanics force field, that is combined with a new solvation energy function that penalizes hydrophobic group exposure. This energy function gives the crystal structure of four different alpha-helical proteins as the lowest energy structure relative to other conformations, with correct secondary structure but incorrect tertiary structure. We demonstrate this global optimization strategy by determining the tertiary structure of the A-chain of the alpha-helical protein, uteroglobin and of a four-helix bundle, DNA binding protein. 相似文献

The 2015 to 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) recognize the role of 100% fruit juice in health and in helping people meet daily fruit recommendations and state that 100% fruit juice is a nutrient‐dense beverage that should be a primary choice, along with water and low‐fat/fat‐free milk. The DGAs note that children are consuming 100% fruit juice within recommendations (that is, 120 to 180 mL/d for children aged 1 to 6 y and 236 to 355 mL/d for children aged 7 to 18 y). Evidence shows that compared to nonconsumers, those who consume 100% fruit juice come closer to meeting daily fruit needs and have better diet quality. In children, 100% fruit juice is associated with increased intakes of nutrients such as vitamin C, folate, and potassium. When consumed within the DGA recommendations, 100% fruit juice is not associated with overweight/obesity or childhood dental caries and does not compromise fiber intake. Preliminary data suggest that polyphenols in some 100% fruit juices may inhibit absorption of naturally occurring sugars. Given its role in promoting health and in helping people meet fruit needs, experts participating in a roundtable discussion agreed that there is no science‐based reason to restrict access to 100% fruit juice in public health nutrition policy and programs such as the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). A series of 42 multiply substituted 4'-(9-acridinylamino)methanesulfonanilides has been prepared and evaluated in the L1210 system. In addition to biologic activity changes resulting from altered agent lipophilic-hydrophilic balance variants containing both acridine 4-CH3 and 3-NH2, NHCOCH3 or NO2 substituents have reduced activity. Variants 3,6-disubstituted, using functions of differing electronic character, have depressed activity, suggesting that there is limited site bulk tolerance. Asymmetric 3,5-disubstitution should then be the preferred pattern; the 3-ND-5CH-3'-OCH variant is the most dose potent (optimum dose qd 1-5, 1.25 mg/kg/day) of the high activity agents of this series so far prepared. 相似文献

The effect of relative humidity (RH) from ≪1% to 90% on the photodegradation and quantum efficiency for a partially-methylated
melamine acrylic coating exposed to UV/50°C condition has been investigated. The UV source is supplied by two 1000 W Xenon
arc solar simulators and the relative humidities are provided by specially designed humidity generators, which control relative
humidity in the 0 to 90% range to within <3% of the measured values. Radiation absorbed in the coating and degradation of
the films are measured by UV-visible and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies, respectively. The degradation at a particular
RH/UV condition consists of four different modes: reactions taken place during post curing, hydrolysis due to water in the
film at a particular RH, photodegradation, and moisture-enhanced photodegradation. Total degradation, hydrolysis, and moisture-enhanced
photodegradation increase with increasing RH. At low relative humidities, photodegradation is an important degradation mode
but hydrolysis dominates the degradation at high RH levels. Moisture in the film is found to increase the quantum efficiency
of acrylic melamine coating photodegradation.
