A new method of predicting neck formation in sheets under non-proportional loading is proposed, based on the concept of “cumulative forming severity”. This concept is borrowed from a macroscopic model of ductile fracture where the crack initiation is governed by the accumulated equivalent plastic strain modified by the stress triaxiality and the Lode angle parameter. Such an approach necessitates a representation of the forming limit diagram (FLD) in the space of the equivalent strain to neck and the Lode angle parameter.Another new factor is the assumption of the non-linear accumulation of forming severity for non-proportional and complex loading histories. A class of non-linear weighting function is proposed with only one free parameter. A starting point in the derivation is the known FLD corresponding to proportional loading. This can be determined from Hill's and Stören and Rice analytical solutions, from numerical simulation, or else taken directly from experiments. In the case of proportional loading, necking depends on the final state of stress or strain, so it does not matter if necking severity index is accumulated in a linear or non-linear way. For non-proportional loading, the unknown free parameter of the non-linear accumulation rule must be determined from a test.Experimental data on FLDs under complex strain paths for two types of material, aluminum alloy 6111-T4 [Graf A, Hosford W. The present paper investigates the mechanics of the crushing of sandwich profiles through component testing and theoretical analysis. Experiments were run showing that the underlying folding mechanism of sandwich profiles is very different from that of solid-section thin-walled structures. In particular, the shear behavior of the core material was found to strongly influence the mechanics of energy absorption. The analysis focuses on the crushing behavior of double-cell profiles that are made of soft-core hybrid stainless steel assembly (HSSA) sheets. Both material and structural tests were performed. It is demonstrated that the shear strength of the HSSA fiber core is small as compared to the face sheet properties. When subjected to bending, the core deformed in the shear mode, whereas the facings bent independently. Based on this mechanism, a new shear-folding model for sandwich profiles is derived, incorporating the “shear crushing” of the sandwich core material. A nationwide susceptibility surveillance study of beta-hemolytic streptococcal isolates from pharyngeal swabs obtained in 11 Spanish hospitals between May 1996 and April 1997 against 12 antibiotics was carried out. Of the isolates 86% (786 of 914 isolates) were group A and 8.4% (77 of 914 isolates) were group C. No resistance was found to beta-lactam antibiotics, but significant differences (P < 0.001) with respect to lack of susceptibility to macrolides were found between groups (27% for group A and 12% for group C) and between seasons (13.2% in summer and 31.7% in winter). In vivo passage of a poorly replicating, nonpathogenic simian-human immunodeficiency virus (SHIV-HXBc2) generated an efficiently replicating virus, KU-1, that caused rapid CD4(+) T-lymphocyte depletion and AIDS-like illness in monkeys (S. V. Joag, Z. Li, L. Foresman, E. B. Stephens, L.-J. Zhao, I. Adany, D. M. Pinson, H. M. McClure, and O. Narayan, J. Virol. 70:3189-3197, 1996). The env gene of the KU-1 virus was used to create a molecularly cloned virus, SHIV-HXBc2P 3.2, that differed from a nonpathogenic SHIV-HXBc2 virus in only 12 envelope glycoprotein residues. SHIV-HXBc2P 3.2 replicated efficiently and caused rapid and persistent CD4(+) T-lymphocyte depletion in inoculated rhesus macaques. Compared with the envelope glycoproteins of the parental SHIV-HXBc2, the SHIV-HXBc2P 3.2 envelope glycoproteins supported more efficient infection of rhesus monkey peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Both the parental SHIV-HXBc2 and the pathogenic SHIV-HXBc2P 3.2 used CXCR4 but none of the other seven transmembrane segment receptors tested as a second receptor. Compared with the parental virus, viruses with the SHIV-HXBc2P 3.2 envelope glycoproteins were more resistant to neutralization by soluble CD4 and antibodies. Thus, changes in the envelope glycoproteins account for the ability of the passaged virus to deplete CD4(+) T lymphocytes rapidly and specify increased replicative capacity and resistance to neutralization. 相似文献

Current methods used clinically to assess myocardial perfusion are invasive and expensive. As the technology of ultrasound imaging improves, CE may provide a relatively inexpensive, noninvasive means of quantitating myocardial perfusion. Issues regarding stability of microbubble contrast agents must be studied more closely under physiologic conditions. As such, encapsulated microbubbles may provide more stability under physiologic pressures than free gas microbubbles. Introducing high concentrations of contrast, either by hyperconcentrating the contrast agent or by increasing the injection rate, may provide greater stability under physiologic conditions. Further, before quantitative statement of tissue perfusion can be made, the relationship between tracer concentration and system response must be established. Further, a "linear" postprocessing ultrasound setting does not eliminate this requirement as data must still undergo nonlinear transformation during log compression and time-gain compensation. Additionally, issues regarding "electronic thresholding" must be explored more extensively in vivo. Commercial ultrasound scanners, in their present form, may not offer adequate sensitivity for absolute quantitative studies. Further development of modified ultrasound systems may provide sufficient sensitivity for quantitative perfusion imaging. CE offers a potentially powerful tool in the clinical management of patients with ischemic heart disease. Conventional coronary angiography provides information on the size of a lesion, but accompanying tissue perfusion distal to the lesion cannot be determined. Doppler ultrasonography determines velocity of blood flow in large vessels but does not offer the potential to quantitate tissue perfusion. Clearly, CE has a place in the future of diagnostic imaging. The recent work of Ito et al. demonstrated the qualitative potential of CE in the identification of "areas at risk" in patients who had undergone thrombolysis or percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty after an acute myocardial infarction. With further improvement in the ultrasound imaging techniques and microbubble stability, CE may offer an inexpensive, noninvasive means of assessing myocardial perfusion. 相似文献

The objective of this paper is to theoretically predict the plastic resistance and the plastic work in blanking and tearing of ductile metal plates. It is found that shear resistance in blanking of metal plates is attributed to two factors. First, there are large rotations of material elements in the shear zone. These rotations give rise to large tensile deformation in a direction oblique to the shear surface. The Tension Model is developed to determine the role of this factor in blanking tests and the shear load instability is revealed. The other factor is due to the reduction of shear area caused by the crack propagation through the thickness. With the Tension Model as a representative element, the Blanking Model with a moving fracture front is proposed to predict the shear force, the plastic work, and the shape and size of the plastic shear zone. Good agreement is found with the published experimental results for a variety of materials by other investigators. Finally, the three-dimensional tearing process is modeled as a two-dimensional blanking problem.
